Chapter: 39

The next morning ay get up around 7:30 and I get ready for the beach. I put on my orange bikini and some jean shorts, that I stitched cute little things, like flowers, a red heart, a white peace sign and a yellow sun, all over and my see through lace tank top to put over my bikini. I grab my brown buffalo sandals and put them in my Gucci duffle along with my beach towel, surf wax, sunscreen and pair of underwear and a white tank top, just in case, and my small makeup bag. I change out my purse into my normal bucket bag and I put my ring in the wallet cause I don't want to lose it. I braid my hair into a side braid and I grab my stuff and walk downstairs.

Jen is already sitting there eating some eggs and I sit down next to her. She has a maroon colored one piece on, with a tropical shirt over it and some jean shorts that are cuffed at the bottom.

'I am so excited to get back out there' she says, excited.

I nod and I grab an orange and start to peel it 'I know it's been such a long time.' I tell her as I get up and get a cup of coffee.

We wait for about a half hour and we grab our stuff and head out the side door. The Rogan's backyard isn't huge but it has small table on some paved concrete with some tall hedges with a small sidewalk leading to the garage. We grab our boards and head out into the drive way.

Patrick honks as he pulls up and we wave. We put our boards in the trunk and I get in the front seat and Jen in the backseat. He gives me a quick peck before heading out. He tells me Anthony will meet us there.

We pull into Hermosa Beach parking lot and we get out. We grab our boards and bags. We see Anthony leaning against his car, wearing some white trunks a blue tee shirt and his white bucket hat. We say hi and he grabs a large cooler and beach umbrella from his car and we find a spot on the beach. We set up and spread out our towels and Anthony pops up his umbrella. I stick my board in the sand I peel off my lace shirt and I can feel Patrick staring at me. He's looking real good in some navy trunks, a Yes band tee with his floppy hair blowing in the breeze. I grab my sunscreen and I ask him to help me with it. He puts it on my back and shoulders and I rub it into my chest and neck. I thank him with a peck on the cheek and I wax my board. After I take off my shorts and I grab my board and I head into the water.

I sit on my board just taking it all in cause it's been so long. I think about everything that has changed and I have to push those thoughts away cause I'm getting emotional. I see Jen paddle close to me and then Patrick comes on the other side of me. We all catch a bunch of waves until I decide to paddle in. I run over to your spot and I stick my board in the sand

'Good waves?' Anthony asks looking up from his book.

'Yeah they were, how's the book?' I ask him lighting up a cigarette.

He shrugs 'It's okay, I brought a bunch of beers and my mom made lunch for everyone' he says with a smile.

'Wow, that so nice of you guys. How is she doing she must be getting close to her due date right?' I ask as he hands me a beer and I munch on some carrots from the cooler.

Anthony nods 'Yeah, about a 2 months to go, she's doing good. She's been complaining that its hard for her garden cause she has gotten so big' he says taking out a coke from a smaller cooler

'I bet, at least she's almost done' I tell him with a smile 'I couldn't imagine how hard it would be to do anything with a big belly like that?' I say and he laughs.

Jen and Patrick come back to the towels, before drying off and sitting down. Patrick steals a drag of my cigarette before kissing me softly.

'Love you' Patrick says wrapping his arms around my waist.

I smile. 'Love you, too' I say, cuddling into his chest and smiling.

We hang out, have the delicious lunch Willow made for us, drink some beers and just enjoy being outside. Patrick brought a joint and we all take turns taking drags.

'Have you seen Molly recently?' Patrick asks me 'Jimmy hasn't been around much, either' he adds.

I shake my head 'No, she said she wanted to spend time with jimmy focusing on their relationship and that was right after the new years. It's weird not having her around but I feel like I have become closer with you Jen' I say smiling at her.

'I was just going to say that especially since you have become a Rogan' she laughs.

'How long will you be staying there Jo? I mean with more murders happening I don't blame you. Didn't your dad go back to the LAPD? Anthony asks.

I nod 'Yeah, they asked him to come back after the third murder and he and Willy, his partner said yes cause they wanted to help' I say 'I think things are going to get worse before they get better'

'Yeah, I do too, I have get feelings sometimes and so does my mother' Jen tells up 'It's like jewish intuition' and we all laugh.

We all hang out until the sun is setting, we watch the sunset together and it feels nice to just sit here in Patrick's arms not worrying about anything.

We pack up our stuff and we load up the cars and we say goodbye to Anthony. Patrick drops us off at Jen's house and I give him a quick kiss goodbye.

We put our boards in the garage and head into the house. Sara is making dinner and we say quick hello and we go upstairs. I take off my clothes and I jump in the shower. I wash my hair and then I get out and change into some gym shorts and Patrick's black tee shirt from the first time I slept over, I have worn it so often that it doesn't smell like him anymore but it's still my favorite thing to wear. I braid my hair and I walk downstairs.

'Dinner is almost ready, its lasagna night.' Sara says and I grab the plates and silver ware to set the table.

After I set the table, I help her chop veggies for the salad and I put it all in a large bowl. I set it on the table and she takes some garlic bread out of the oven.

'God, all your cooking smells delicious' I tell her leaning on the counter.

'Aww, your sweet, I learned everything from my mother, she was great cook' she says taking the lasagna out of the oven. God it looks so good with all the cheese bubbling up and is slimly brown around the edges.

'Dinners ready' she yells and Howard comes out of his office and sits down.

'Looks wonderful, honey. I'm starving' he says helping him self to a slice of the lasagna, and puts some salad on the plate.

'Thanks, dear I had help from Jo' Sara says taking a piece for herself.

'I chopped, it was nothing, it would not taste this good if I actually helped' I joke and the laugh.

'Sorry, I was showering and changing' Jen says taking a seat and helping herself to some food..

'How was surfing? Did you hang ten?' Howard asks us in-between bites.

We giggle 'Yeah it was good, the waves were great. Jen's getting pretty good honestly' I say with a smile.

'Well I have a good teacher' she says to me.

We talk all though dinner and Jen and I do the dishes and Sara puts them away. We sit down in the living room and watch the news. There was another murder in downtown LA that was similar to the others. I hope my dad is doing okay. I talked to my mom a dew days ago and she has been working a lot. She is going to New York for a couple of weeks and will miss Robert and Julia's wedding which is next weekend' Jen and I go upstairs after the news and we both do some homework and then we head to bed.
