Chapter: 71
The weeks go on and we are getting the baby's room done quickly. We put up white wall paper with small flowers on the walls and Patrick put together all the furniture while I watched and ate ice cream.
I am about 28 weeks now and I feel huge. I don't even try to weigh myself because I just get anxious but I have a check up today. Patrick is at work but Jen is coming with me. She and Anthony got engaged and I am so happy for them. The ring is a gorgeous green color and it fits her personality perfectly. She has been a huge help just working at the office. I go in a couple days a week but it's getting harder and harder these days even to move around. Since I was pretty small when I got pregnant the weight gain and size growth has been a tough adjustment for me.
Today, I am getting ready for my appointment with is no ultra sound just a check up. I put on some white underwear, a floral print skirt and a white tank top. It's getting to the point, where my bottoms have to sit under my belly so I just leave the shirt out. I put my hair up and Jen is waiting for me. She's wearing some white shorts, a Beatles tee shirt and some clogs 'Hey, you look nice' she says giving me a hug.
'Thanks, nothing really fits anymore' I laugh.
'Well you look amazing' she says.
We leave and we take her car to the doctors. We check in and I we sit down.
'Jo O'Neill' the nurse calls us back 'Hi, this is my friend Jen' I say 'Nice to meet you, step on the scale please' she says. I step on the scale and then I get off
'155, right on the money' she says and I'm surprised.
We sit in the exam room.
'I have never been this big in my life' I say.
Jen giggles 'But you're pregnant and young so you will be thin again in no time' she says.
I shrug and nod.
'Hi Jo, here for a check up I see' Dr. Green says.
'Hi, this is my friend Jen' I say.
'Nice to meet you. Go ahead and sit on the table and we can do an exam and I will feel around' he says and I nod. I give Jen my purse and I sit on the table.
He does the exam and I lay down. I lift up my shirt and I feel a little self conscious because Jen as never seen my belly out like this before. He feels around and moves my belly around.
'It looks like you're doing good. You are looking healthy and your weight is great. Any questions or concerns?' He asks me. 'No, it's just been a hard change getting use to my size' I say sitting up.
'I hear that all the time from first time mothers. I know it's a big change but in your case you just need to not think about that and just keep eating. I know weight has been an issue for you and just judging my your belly and weight you have been doing a good job. Your son will be healthier in the long run and the birth will be less complicated. I want to start seeing you every other week starting around the 30 week mark, which is in about 2 weeks. Normal policy, but just to keep an eye on you before the birth' he says and I nod.
'Thank you' I say.
We say good bye and I make an appointments, for a few weeks from now and then every two weeks until my due date which is in early July. We leave the doctors office and we go shopping and have lunch. She drops me off at home and let Jack outside. I fill his bowls and I grab some leftover meat loaf to of the fridge and a some chocolate ice cream.
Patrick gets home and brought home a pizza.
'Hey, how was the doctors?' He asks me giving me a kiss. I try to get up but can't.
