Chapter: 28
The next morning I get up and I get dresses in some red bell bottom pants, a black tank top, a brown suede vest and my wooden wedges. I braid my hair into a loose braid and I put on the earrings Patrick got me for homecoming. I grab my stuff and head downstairs. I grab an apple on my way out cause I'm running later and I drive to school. I wait outside my car and light a cigarette. I wait for about ten minutes and I see Patrick's car pull in the lot. I exhale one more time, before grabbing my stuff and walking over to him. I can see he's wearing some jeans and a rolling stones tee shirt and Dave is wearing jeans and a white polo. I finally catch up with him.
'Hey baby, you remember my brother Dave?' Patrick says taking my hand and I nod.
'Hi it's nice to see you again, Joan right? You're Patrick's friend.' He say with a smile.
'Girlfriend, and yeah it's Jo, actually.' I smile correcting him
'Got it. I'll see you later I have to go to the office and get my schedule' he says before running off.
'Sorry, I don't get why he's so weird' Patrick says.
'It's fine. I have dealt with worse' I smile at him.
We get to our lockers and put our stuff in. I grab my books for my second class after homeroom. Molly comes in and says hi and then grabs her stuff. She's wearing white shorts, pink tee shirt and some white wooden sandals. She has been super distant recently and quiet which isn't like her. I ask her what's wrong but she says she doesn't want to talk about it. I don't want to push her so I drop it for now. We still have a little bit of time before home room. So we stand by the lockers. Molly goes to the bathroom and says she'll meet us in class. Patrick and I talk for a while and we see Dave come into the building and walks to the locker in the other side of Patrick and opens it.
'Guess we're locker buddies' Dave says to him. Patrick just smiles and grabs his books. Dave looks over and looks at the photos in his locker. He lingers on the one of us kissing in Molly's back yard from the end summer camp out.
'When we're these taken?' Dave asks Patrick.
'Right before school started, at a party we went to at our friend Molly's house. I'm sure you'll meet her soon' Patrick says.
'A party?' He asks, surprised a little.
Patrick looks confused and so does the rest of us pretending not to listen.
'Yeah man a party, it was a pretty fun night. We had a campout.' Patrick tells him.
'Does dad know about your friend?' Dave asks him.
'My girlfriend? Yeah he's met Jo a ton of times he's even friends with her parents. They go to dinner all the time.' He tells him 'Why?' He asks his brother.
'Just wondering, I should go to homeroom' he says before leaving.
Patrick turns to us 'That was weird right? Like why does he keep calling you my friend?' He asks us.
I shrug 'I don't know but I agree it's weird for sure' I take his hand we walk with Jen and Anthony to homeroom.
Dave is sitting in the lefthand corner when we walk in and take out seats. The whole time I look out of the corner of my eye and I see him glaring at me. What's his deal I think to myself. The first half of the day goes by without any issue. Patrick and I grab our lunches from out lockers before sitting down with Jen.
'Hey, have you seen Molly?' She asks me.
I shake my head 'No not since homeroom. I know something is wrong but she won't talk about it has she said anything to you?' I ask Jen.
