Chapter: 56
We wake up the next morning and we take a shower. We get dressed in our uniforms and we gather our school stuff before walking downstairs. Robert and Julia are at work already so I make eggs and toast before we head off to school. We walk in and we put our stuff in our lockers. I grab my stuff for my next class and we head off for the day. The day goes by fairly smoothly. I keep a constant eye out of anything weird and I am aways listening. We put our books away and we head to the chapel.
'You ready for this?' Patrick asks me and I roll my eyes.
'No, not really' I say and he smiles.
His finger brush mine quickly and I get goosebumps. We find our seats next to Anthony in back and we say hi to each other.
The service starts and it's fine and traditional. In the middle Rev. Howard stands up to the podium.
'Thank you all for being here today. I would like to say a little something to all of you. As I look into the crowd, I see many impressionable minds and I hope that the words you have herd here today will make a lasting impression. These children here, sitting in the front are role models who accepted God into their hearts, I ask all of you to be more like these wonderful children sitting here. I invite them up first to take Communion and then when you are baptized in Gods name you too can take part in this gift' he says.
'Role models my ass' Patrick whispers to me and I try not to giggle.
I watch as the tattle-tail squad gets up and lines up. I see Molly standing behind with Darcy, Mary and Katie. She has her hand over her small baby bump, that is visible through her white polo. He gives them a wafer and blesses each one of them. They walk off into a side room as soon as they eat the wafer. Why would they just leave like that? They sing one more song and we are ushered out of the church. We walk back to our lockers and we grab our homework before walking to Patrick's car. We say goodbye to Anthony and we get into his car.
We drive away and I ask him 'Do you think it was weird that they just left after communion?'
Patrick nods 'Kinda, I remember Dave saying that they had bible studies after' he says and I think for a minute.
'At least spring break is right around the corner and we can relax, at least a little bit.' Patrick says putting his hand on my leg 'Yeah, I really can't wait' I tell him smiling.
'Is there anything special you want to do?' He asks me and I shake my head no
'Just spend time with you' I say smiling.
'Sounds good to me, baby' he says.
We pull into his drive way and we grab a coke before going upstairs to his room and doing our homework. We have dinner with his family and then we all sit around watching tv.
'We interrupt this program to bring you a special news bulletin. A local couple was found stabbed to death in their Glendale home early this morning. Police arrived on the scene after their dog was barking in the yard. A over month ago, we reported on a murder of a women in here home and we think these crimes are connected. The victims, who's identities hasn't been released yet were found stabbed multiple time. There was counter-culture slag written in the walls in their own blood. We have reason to believe that the cases dating back to late December are all connected. If you have any information please call our hotline.' The reporter says.
'It happened again' I whisper to Patrick and he holds my hand and squeezes them gently.
We go upstairs and he closes the door.
'This isn't good, I knew this would happen again' I say and he pulls me into a hug
'There was no way of stopping this from happening' he says and I nod.
