Chapter: 40
The next morning I wake up for school and I put on some baggy overalls and a with a yellow cropped shirt. I put my hair into a pony tail before I slip on my clogs. I grab my stuff and walk into the kitchen. I grab an orange and a cup of coffee and then Jen joins me a little while later. She's wearing some floral printed jeans a light pink tee with some light blue trim and a flower on it, and she has some white wooden sandals on.
We drive to school and park in the lot, then we walk to our lockers. I put my bag in and grab some of my books. Patrick comes in and gives me a quick kiss before opening his lockers and putting his stuff in and then grabbing some stuff.
'Where'e Dave?' I ask him.
'He left a note saying he had to be at school early so I guess he got a ride or something' he tells me before lacing out fingers together and walking with Jen to homeroom.
Normally I would see Molly sitting by Jimmy but she wasn't here today.
'Hey, have you seen Molly?' I ask Jimmy.
'No but we fizzled out a little after new years, so I have seen her around, like in class but we haven't really hung out' he tells me and I was shocked.
'Oh, okay that's cool, thanks' I say.
Why would she lie to me about wanting to spend time with Jimmy?
Our homeroom teacher tells us that there will be an assembly and that we are to going to the gym and it with our homeroom class and to make sure to take everything with us. Jen, Patrick and Anthony and I look at each with a confused look on our faces and grab our stuff and walk out of the room. I notice Katie, Mary and Darcy not in homeroom and it's making me wonder what's going on.
We walk to the gym and in the middle of the basketball court there is several people sitting in folding chairs. I see Katie, Mary, Darcy, Dave, Bobby and Kevin all sitting with other students from different grades. Then, I notice Molly sitting there and she see's me and looks away.
We sit on the bleachers and I lean over to Jen and Patrick 'Why is Molly sitting with them?' I ask them and they look as confused as I am.
'Attention, attention, please be quiet!' Mr. Banks, Mary's father and our principle says into the microphone.
'Thank you, today I am here to talk about something that might be hard to deal with but I believe in facing problems head on. As you might know, our school despite being a public school, has always had a close relationship with The Church of God parish and last night an another member of our community was killed. He was a wonderful person and a close and personal friend of mine. I want you all to know what we will not tolerate hate in this school or condone counter-culture behavior. As of Saturday, we are now The Church of God High School and I expect everyone to be an active member of this school. I will now turn it over to your new vice principal, Rev. Howard.'
Holy shit, are you kidding me right now. I look at Jen and Patrick and they look just as shocked as me.
'Hello students, I am Rev. Howard and Katie Howards father. I would just like to say what a honor it is to be helping make this school a better and safer place in god's name. I want this to be a place, where people are heathy and happy and I have some great ideas on how to make it that place. It will start with a change of scenery, starting tomorrow all students will be required to wear uniforms because the way some of you dress is just not helping with temptation. Also we will be replacing homeroom with a religion class.' He says.
There was a loud groan, from a good amount of the students.
'Quiet please, I know these changes are a lot but I think in the long run it will make you all better people. Your old homeroom teachers will be giving out rulebooks when we are done here and you must get your uniforms from the store and the requirements will be in the handbook. I suggest you take everything that isn't your school work out of locker, because you will not be allowed to have pictures or personal things hanging up and random searches will be done. Today, you will be sent home after this so you can prepare of these changes and get your uniforms. If your parents have any questions they may contact me or the school board.
