2021 July 22nd

Renjun was laying on his bed, thinking about what Mrs Min had told him a few minutes ago. His family just got back from their visit to China this afternoon, and after eating a late lunch he decided to talk to Seol first.

It seemed, like the only way getting through to his stubborn tan best friend was to know everything possible about the situation, and he needed Seol for that.

After knocking on the door at the house beside his, he was met with his smiling neighbor. "Oh, Seol isn't back yet."

"Is she still at her grandparents' house?"

"Oh dear, didn't you know? Seolie went to New York with her cousin, since you two boys left as well."

Renjun was a bit surprised hearing this, but since he knew her cousin came to visit, it was not impossible for her to get away from everything a bit. "Oh, right. I totally forgot about her cousin visiting."
He played it off, not to worry Mrs Min and said goodbye before going back home.

He doesn't know when she would come back home, but he can't just wait till then. For these past two weeks none of them had talked or even texted eachother. It was the first time since they became friends that they entirely lost touch with each other.

For all he knew, one of his best friends might be in hospital because of an accident, or had moved away to a different country, without anyone knowing.

Laying on his bed his eyes were focused on the phone in his hands, looking at the contact picture of his sunshine. Should he call him or write a text? What if he is not back from Jeju yet? Or worse, what if he gets ignored?

While he was lost in thoughts his finger accidentally touched the phone icon and dialed the number.

Renjun was not expecting Hyuck to pick up the phone after the second ringing, but the slight shuffling sounds on the other side of the line made him smile a bit. "Hello? Hyuck?"

"Hmm?"

"Hey...umm...are you back home yet?"

"Mhmm."

"Great!...ugh...can we meet up?" Renjun was unsure about how his friend would react, especially after what had happened a few weeks ago.

The line got quiet for a while, and he started losing hope, but then Hyuck finally spoke up. "You can come over..."

"Sure, I'll be over in 30." He hung up with a smile on his face and went to change into different clothes before grabbing his phone, wallet and keys, ready to leave.

Donghyuck arrived the previous night, and during his stay with his family and cousins he had a lot of time to think. He has always been quite dramatic, so it was no surprise that his reaction to something so big would be extra.

It's true that he was angry, but more than that, he felt betrayed and hurt. And that by the people who he thought were his best friends. His emotions got the best of him that day and he did regret not listening to what Seol wanted to say to him.

He missed their silly chatting every day, and would look at his phone hoping that a notification would appear. If it wasn't for his stupid pride, he would have already called them and apologized, even though he had all rights to act the way he did.

When he saw Renjun's picture pop up on his screen, he literally threw his body across the room to get the call, almost falling off of his bed. He was happy that he could finally hear his best friend's voice again, but the hesitation in it made him also shy.

It was not until he heard his mother greet him at the door, and a quiet knock on his bedroom door. He has been trying to calm the nervousness by playing games, but when he saw Renjun's silver hair peek trough the open door and the shorter boy enter, he could hold it back anymore.

Renjun turned his back towards his best friend to close the room door when a weight from behind almost had him loose his balance, and arms wrapped around his body. Feeling the curly hair ticke his neck and the familiar scent made him smile brightly, before turning around and hugging the big teddy bear.

There was no need for words to be spoken between the two, as they could perfectly convey their feelings just trough the hug.

"Renjun-ah~ I missed you so much~" the whining of the younger made his friend hit him lightly, but the smile was still glued on their faces. "Have you... talked to her?" Renjun just shook his head before sitting down on the bed and sighing.

"I wanted to speak with her as soon as I got back to Seoul today, but it turns out that she's not home. Her mother told me that she went to the states with her cousin, and she doesn't know when exactly Seol would be back."

"And...did you call her?" Hyuck was visibly nervous, afraid that his friend would decide to stay with her cousin for good. He still remembers the look on her face after he yelled at her, the red eyes and tears threatening to fall onto her pale cheeks.

"I wanted to talk to her face to face, to find out just what had happened, and why. I thought that you would still be salty and that I should find out some background information before facing you and your sassy ass. But it turns out that I was wrong."

He shrugged his shoulders before leaning back on the bed, staring at the glow in the dark stars that they glued above Hyuck's bed when they were kids.

"I can't believe you thought of me being like that!" Donghyuck dramatically threw his hands in the air, ready to complain, but a look from the Chinese made him shut up.

Giving up he layed down beside his friend pouting, looking at his wrists before a question that has been bugging him fora while slipped out of his mouth.

"How is this possible? I mean, why now? And...this all...just...is it true?"

Renjun was also thinking about these things, and in his mind something told him that they would get all answers from Seol once she returned. "I don't know either, but I have a feeling that she might know some things."

His hand brushed against Hyuck's on the bed, making a warm feeling spread around his wrist and a light glow shine through his skin...
