Seol has been having a hard time ever since she entered puberty.

For some reason her hormones were more unstable than those of the majority of the other girls. She would have stronger symptoms due to that, making the menstrual cycle a literal bloody hell.

Her family doctor assumed that they would probably be connected to her soulmate, and that after bonding, the hormonal balance in her body would be restored. But she was only twelve at the time, and had to skip school for a few days every month, since she was bed ridden from the pain and sometimes too weak to stand on her own.

Just like humans, hybrids also had hormonal pills or commonly birth control pills. These were usually prescribed for only bonded females, as just bonded hybrids could become pregnant. The other reason was their main side effect, which was repressing the bonding capacity.

This would mean that those who took the pill would be unable to bond with their soulmates while the hormones are under suppression. Although this was the main side effect, only doctors were allowed to know about it, as it was considered to be unnatural to suppress one's mate bond.

Seol had only guy friends, so she was not familiar with how her 'growing up' had to look like. At first she thought it was normal, and every girl went through the same. Her mother and Renjun's sister told her that it would be harder in the beginning until she gets used to it, but with time it only got worse.

Seol lost her appetite and weight from the immense pain that tormented her every three weeks. She would feel dizzy and nauseous out of the blue, get heat rushes and shivers in the middle of the day without any reason, and have countless sleepless nights due to insomnia or her headaches.

The worst part of it all was, that no medicine was able to help her lessen those symptoms. Her mother and the doctor got worried, and decided that it would be best to try putting her under the hormonal control.

It was a hard decision, and hard to get used to taking medicine every day, but it worked wonders. With the therapy, Seol was finally able to function properly, and keep her health under control.

Having an older sister, Renjun knew somewhat more about the hardships of the opposite sex than Donghyuck. He felt bad whenever he saw the girl suffer, and often saw how his own sister would help the her out. He learned about the heating pads, cravings and the importance of black clothes trough the hard way.

Being Seol's next door neighbor and best friend sometimes required him to lend a helping hand too. He used to spend the afternoons with her when she was younger, as his mother often offered to help out during her 'weak' days.

He and his sister would keep Seol company after school, help her catch up with the lesson and assist when needed. Seol took that very badly, especially when Renjun was alone with her and she was in a bad state.

She liked having him there, cuddling and watching videos all afternoon, but not him seeing her faint or throw up her last meal. Those feelings of helplessness did damage her self esteem and confidence, to the point where she believed that, the rest of her life would be like that too.

She pleaded Renjun to keep it a secret from Donghyuck, even if the two boys didn't have any among eachother. She was too embarrassed of herself and didn't want to burden any more people.

When she finally got the new therapy, it was nothing special to the eye of any outsider. For humans using hormonal control pills for period regulation or even acne treatment was nothing unusual, so Seol just went with that excuse. Nobody suspected something to be wrong with that, and in Renjun's mind he got the confirmation that she is a human.

She continued to take the pill even after her nineteenth birthday, as her studies required her to be alert and focused seven days a week. With the permission of her doctor Seol was allowed to continue the usual therapy until she graduates, and then they would figure something out.

But who knew that it would be exactly that little pink pill that would cause so much pain, and one day put her friendship with the boys on the line...
