After spending a week with their grandparents, Seol and her cousin returned to her place that was empty since her parents left for their vacation.

Seol's cousin Jaehyun is a doctor, working at a private hospital in the states, having a lot of experience with hybrid bonds. After the two had finally got some privacy, she decided to tell him about the most recent changes in her life.

She had updated him about most things during the past week he has been in Seoul, but this specific topic was a bit more sensitive to her.

"You have bonded? That's amazing! Why didn't you tell everyone?" Jaehyun gave her his signature bright smile, making his dimples appear.

His excitement was short lived though, as he saw the girl he considered as his little sister look so dejected. "What's wrong?" His tone was gentle as he was afraid she would break down any moment, judging by her shaking hands and head hanging low.

"Jae, I've messed it up...I-I don't even k-know what happened..." her voice broke as she remembered the look on Donghyuck's face that day. Her cousin pulled her closer to him, wrapping his arms around her shoulders and letting her relax a bit.

"I don't know what happened, but I'm sure whatever happened will solve itself with time." He kept stroking her hair, making the girl suppress a sob that threatened to escape her lips but failing miserably.

Having someone to listen to her and comfort her made her break down, letting out all those tears she hid for years. The two sat in each other's embrace like that until Seol finally had calmed down, opening up and telling her cousin everything that happened that day.

"I-I ran out of pills a few days before graduation, but was too busy to visit the hospital so I just skipped a f-few days. Everything was okay, until a-after the presentation...

Mom and dad went to pick you up while Hyuck, Jjunie and I-I went to grab some food and wanted to go to Han river. I know t-that Hyuck wanted us to hurry so we catch the bus, but when he pulled on our hands he froze in shock..."

Seol took a shaky breath as she remembered the day, before continuing her story.

"He suddenly muttered something looking at us in disbelief before Renjun, who apparently heard what he said s-spoke up. Hyuck must have said something about the bond, since after that both boys turned to me in surprise, and Jjunie asked me something..."

~flashback~

"Seol?..You?.. But how?" the look on his face was a mixture of surprise and confusion as he started thinking about all those years they knew each other.

"Seol?...You're a hybrid too?" Donghyuck's quiet, almost whispering voice asked the girl, who now looked even more confused than before.

"Don't tell me..." she was still trying to process the information, not even registering the words leaving her lips. Her mind was shutting down, after all the possible scenarios she had imagined before about her bonding suddenly started playing in her head.

A scoff was heard from behind Renjun, who turned his body entirely towards the girl, trying to read her expression and figure out what she was thinking.

"So it was you? It was YOU all along? But how? And why now?" Donghyuck's voice got louder with each sentence, as anger started building up in him. It was them all along? But why didn't they bond earlier?

He guessed it had something to do with the girl, and without knowing why, his blood started to boil. Renjun was now entirely hiding her smaller frame from his sight, trying to bring the girl back to her senses by shaking her by her shoulders.
