The room was silent, no one had a response to the mature woman's words— they sent a chill over Odette's body. She couldn't take her eyes off the pristinely dressed woman, why had she come?

Eventually, she moved her eyes back to Malfoy, his eyes never left who Odette knew to be his mother. She couldn't read how he felt about her presence, angry? happy? relieved?

"Malfoy?" Odette's voice was weak, it shook as she spoke, making her cringe.

"What are you doing here?" He spoke, not to Odette, but to his mother.

Narcissa Malfoy laughed, her laugh cold and brittle. "What am I doing here?" she questioned in a mocking tone. "I'm here to stop you from making a mistake."

"Why? Why do you care?" Malfoy's voice was passionless, like he was talking to a stranger and not his mother. "After a lifetime spent if you showing no care about anything in my life, now you choose to care?"

"I have always cared!" Narcissa argued, approaching her son. "You have no obligation to say such horrid things!"

"I have no obligation?" Malfoy questioned. "How about I have been missing for the last month and not once have you attempted to make contact, how about my school was attacked— again!— and you didn't even try to reach me afterwards."

His hand was still in Odette's, squeezing it tighter and tighter as he grew more exasperated. Odette assumed he thought by taking it out on her hand he wouldn't snap at his mother.

"I had no idea where you were, Draco!" Narcissa hissed. "Don't you dare claim I do not care for you, I have always. And that is why I am here right now."

"How did you know where we would be?" He asked.

"Mr Aegro behind you is a dear old friend of your fathers," she pointed to the Scottish wizard behind the Slytherin pair.
