Your POV

I smiled and nodded, "Okay, let's go together."

We were about to head out when I felt a tug on my shirt, I turned and saw Nezuko, she wanted to follow too.

"Y/n, I'll go first, you follow behind me, I think I may have an idea on where they are." Takashi said to me.

I shrugged, "Sure, anything."

Takashi's POV

I felt something bad was going to happen so I decided to go first, just in case.

I walked over to the back yard and saw Tanjiro crouching next to Kanao infront of a bed of flowers.

I grunted when I saw him smile and tuck a flower behind Kanao's ear, they were very close.(no, my reader, they are NOT going to kiss✋😭 Kanao and Tanjiro met like 2 to 3 days ago- what do you guys expect?)

'Y/n's not going to like this at all...' I thought, 'in fact I feel like she's going to murder someone.'

I turned to see her beside me instead of behind and my sweat dropped. 'Shoot. Too late, she knows.'

Your POV

I saw everything, from Tanjiro laughing and Kanao looking down shyly, Tanjiro tucking a flower behind Kanao's ear gently, and what hurt the most is that I saw him playing with her hair gently between his fingers like when us when we were at the Wisteria house...

Was I just in the background? So those small actions mean nothing? And here I thought I had a chance.

I clenched my fists and felt someone hold on to it, I turned and saw Nezuko looking back at me apologetically. My eyes softened as I looked down.

"Hey, I'll go talk to Kanao about your feelings towards him okay? I'm sure Kanao isn't the type of person who would interfere in any kind of relationships, she just didn't know you like him. You go have a talk with Tanjiro. I'll buy you some time." Takashi said with a gentle smile.

I nodded and he ruffled my hair gently and walked to towards the two.

I turned to Nezuko, "Nezuko, you stay here okay?" I told her softly.

She nodded and gave me a reassuring hug as a form of comfort, reassurance and courage.

When I see Kanao standing up and leaving with Takashi, I knew it was my turn. I took a deep breath and walked towards Tanjiro.

"Hey Tanji..." I greeted.

"Oh hey, what did you want to talk about?" Tanjiro asked.

"Well, I've realised that we've been distant and you've been hanging out with Kanao more often than me, I've been your friend for more than 2 years and I feel like we've been drifting apart..." I tried to explain.

"You know Kanao is an important part of my training, she knows a lot of tricks and she's fast, agile and..." Tanjiro went on and on about her.

I was starting to lose my patience, I clenched my fists as I closed my eyes and furrowed my brows in annoyance.

"Will you honestly SHUT UP about Kanao? It's always about 'Oh IS KanaO HeRe?' Or 'SoRrY I HavE TrAininG WitH KanaO.' And 'I'm HaNginG OuT With KanAo I Can't TodDay SoRrY' " I said as my voice started to get louder from every word, "And she's ALWAYS FIVE F*CKING FEET AWAY FROM YOU! It's pathetic!" I snapped.

Tanjiro just stood there in disbelief, "Seriously? I can't even hand out with my friends? Why are you being so controlling?!" He shot back.

I scoffed, "Oh? ME? Kanao is the ONLY friend you hang out with! I can't even TALK or SEE you anymore! It's like your avoiding me just to hang out with her! I just feel like your ruining our friendship!" I explained.

"No! I just need help for my training! I mean- she's a lot more powerful than I am, and plus you have your other friends! Why can't you just leave me alone?! I can't always be there!" He practically yelled but still trying to contain his anger.

"Do you even REALISE when we last spoken I'm just trying to fix our friendship!" I said.

"You have Zenitsu, Takashi, Inosuke and Nezuko for kami's sake! I let you hand out with them and I can't even hang out with Kanao?! God could you be more self involved!" He yelled.

"AT LEAST IM THE ONE WHO DOESNT IGNORE AND AVOID MY FRIENDS!" I replied angrily.

"THEN MAYBE I WOULD'VE BEEN BETTER OFF WITHOUT FRIENDS LIKE YOU!" He yelled without thinking, then his eyes widened, realising what he had just said.

My eyes widened as I felt a huge pang in my heart. Is that how he really feels?

"Ouch..." I muttered under my breath with my voice cracking.

He took a step towards me, "WAIT! NO! I didn't mean that! I-"

"Save it." I interupted him while looking down, I didn't cry, I was just shocked, I didn't know how to react.

I turned and wanted to walk away, but then I stopped, "Do you remember what today is?" I asked him without looking back, hoping he would remember my birthday.

"What? N-no... what are you talking about?" He asked.

I scoffed as a small painful smile plastered on my face, "So you really think that way about me?... I see how it is, you really hate me that much huh?... Okay, I'll leave you alone. You've proved your point, I was just being to controlling." I said as I walked off.

Tanjiro was about to chase after me but he didn't, that's when I knew Nezuko was stopping him from chasing after me.
