"What?! Are you just gonna believe what he said?" Jean furrowed his brows. I shrugged and watched my son ate his cereal while watching a television.

"What am I supposed to do? He looks like he was about to cry." I said. He sighed and massaged his head.

"Remember when you told me that it all started when he cried infront of you? After you told him to forget about what happened between you and him?"

"But that was in the past.." I said and groaned as I rumbled my hair. I felt all the stress comming again. I don't know if I should believe him or not.

What does he mean when he said that he doesn't mean to hurt me?

He explained his side but I still can't understand.

"Anyway, I'm out later. I have to buy groceries tomorrow." Jean said and glanced at his wrist watch.

"I'll do the grocery instead. We're gonna stay here for a month. I don't think I'm that shameless to let you feed us." I said as he agreed. I looked at Cane and called him.

"Cane, do you want to go to the mall? I'll buy anything you want."

"Okay. I'll go to the bookstore."

As expected..

Jean left for work as I prepared Cane and myself to the grocery. I thought maybe I should give Cane a proper tour in the city tomorrow.

There's not much a scenery but there are some fine views where tourists usually go. I'm pretty sure.

"Cane, this is too much." I grimaced and stared at the twelve books in the cart. I looked at him while his head tilted.

"I'm sorry. This is all the same book as Uncle Levi's so I thought I should buy it. But it's okay if we can't afford it--"

"No!" I said and placed more book on the cart. "I can afford this. I can even buy the whole mall for you."

"Can you?"

"Not really." I chuckled awkwardly and pointed at the shelves. "Just get whatever you want." I said as he nodded. I sighed and watched him go to the other side of the shelf.

I have nothing to buy here anyways. I don't understand Cane so much. His obsession towards book is undefined. I was never obsessed in book when I was a kid.

"Y/N?"

My head turned when a familiar voice called out my name. My eyes widened when I saw Eren.

"Eren!"

"I knew it. I thought you looked familiar so I approached here." He chuckled and scratched his head. "I'm not used in your new style."

I laughed and shook my head. "Yeah? I thought I'd changed a few with my styles. I don't want to look like boring."

He smiled and nodded as his eyes went on the cart. "I never knew you were into books."

"Oh, this?" I showed the cart. "It's not mine. You know I've never read educational books." I laughed.

"Then, who's--"

"Mama." Cane called behind me. He was holding three more books and placed it on the cart.

"Is that all?" I said and counted the books. "You know you can't buy any of these when we get home. Did you got all you want?"

"Yeah, that's all. I can just borrow more to Uncle Levi."

"I see." I smiled and looked infront of me. I saw Eren with his wide eyes as he stared at Cane. He looks stunned watching the kid as Cane ignored him.

"Oh.." I muttered and chuckled. "This is Arcane." I said and gently pulled Cane beside me.

"He.." Eren talked and glanced at me. "He looks exactly like--"

"I know.." I said and laughed awkwardly. "I know." I whispered. Cane stared at him and bowed with manners.

"It's nice to know you." Cane greeted.

"Mhm." Eren still looks stunned but he managed to nod. He looked at me and glanced at Cane. "I never knew you had a.. kid."

"I never told anyone." I said and smiled while caressing Cane's shoulder.

"I see." He nodded and chuckled. "Does 'he' know?" He asked referring to Armin. My smile fell and shook my head.

"I intend to raise him alone." I said and looked at Cane who's eyes are on the shelves.

"Oh well.. In that case, I should mind my business." He said and smiled. He scratched his head again while averting his gaze. "I was.. I wanted to ask you out again but it seems like I can't."

I chuckled and nodded. "You absolutely can't." I said and tapped his shoulders. "Well, a dinner would do. Let see.." I tapped my chin and thought of my free schedule. "Just call whenever you're free." I said and waved.

He nodded and bid goodbye as I paid for the books and decided to go to the grocery store with Cane. We ate lunch on a restaurant since I was craving for a soup.

It was three in the afternoon when we decided to go home. My phone was dead so I didn't know if Jean was home.

I would've asked him to help with the groceries since Cane fell asleep when we were in the taxi while heading back home.

I caressed Cane's hair on my shoulders when I saw we were nearing the condominium building.

"Cane, wake up." I whispered gently and tapped his arms. He groaned and opened his eyes slightly as he scratched his eyes.

"Are we home now?"

"Mhm." I nodded as the taxi stopped on the building. Cane was forcing himself awake as we walked out the taxi.

We rode an elevator while Cane's head was dropping. I chuckled when he grabbed my hands and used it as a support while we walked to the condo.

I squinted my eyes when I saw Jean outside, panicking while arguing with someone.

"..--can't let you in. She's not here--"

"Jean. I know she's here. Just please, let me talk to her."

I froze on my spot and stopped walking when the familiar voice echoed around the hallway. Cane looked up to me confusingly as my heart started to pound hard.

Jean's eyes widened when his eyes darted to me. He shook his head and panicked as if he was signalling me to leave.

But it was too late when Armin turned around and saw me. He slowly walked to me but then he stopped as he saw the kid beside me.
