I woke up suddenly and groaned in pain as I moved my right leg. It felt heavy and weird, like something's wrong. I sat up slowly, not recognizing the room I was in. Then I looked down on my leg, seeing it wrapped in a cast. I blinked a few times not believing my eyes, but the picture in front of me remained the same. Then the door opened suddenly and a man with brown, shoulderlength hair and brown eyes walked in, wearing a white coat over green hospital clothes.

He stopped at the end of my bed and smiled at me friendly. "Glad you're awake Ms. L/N. How are you feeling?", he asked and I looked at him confused. "I'm a little tired and my leg hurts. But I'm confused, where am I and what happened?", I asked back. He smiled again, grabbing the clipboard from the foot of the bed. "You're in the hospital. You were involved in a car crash two days ago. We watched you for those two days and your vital signs are alright. You had luck on your side, all that happened was your leg getting hurt and a few rips are bruised.", he said, still looking at the clipboard.

"A car crash? I can't remember being in an accident!", I said panicked and he smiled at me. "Don't worry, the memories should come back in a few days. The bad news are, we need to operate your leg, the fracture is misplaced.", he said, showing me the x-ray in his hand. It looked really bad for me and I nodded slowly. "When is it sheduled?", I asked and he looked at the clipboard again. "In two days. But since Dr. Torres called in sick for the week, I'm going to be your surgeon.", he explained.

"Alright, thank you Dr.........", I said, looking at him questioningly. "Kulick, I'm Dr. Kulick. And you're welcome Ms. L/N. Now that you're awake I'll tell a nurse to bring you crutches and check the cast. But don't put weight onto your broken leg yet! Or else the fracture ends could drift apart even more and complicate the osteosynthesis.", he said and I nodded.

"Good I'll check on you again tomorrow.", he said and exited the room. For the rest of the day I tried wrapping my head around everything that happened and stop my rushing thoughts. I also tried walking with my crutches like the nurse showed me to, but it was more complicated than it looked.

The next day I decided to walk down the hallway a bit, since I didn't really have anything else to do. Walking worked a lot better than yesterday even though it still was exhausting. After my ten minute walk I made my way back to my room. I was surprised when I found Dr. Kulick waiting for me, looking at the clipboard again.

When I entered the room he looked up and smiled at me. "There you are. I see you got used to the crutches pretty quick.", he said and I smiled back as I sat down on my bed again. "Yes, I did. But it is still really exhausting. The surgery is tomorrow?", I asked, taking the cast in my hands and lifted it onto the bed. "Yes it is. I actually wanted to talk to you about it.", he said, placing the clipboard back on the bed after writing something down on it.

"Alright, I'm listening.", I said. "So the surgery is sheduled for tomorrow morning. That means no breakfast and dinner at 6pm. After that no eating allowed alright?", he asked and I nodded. "Tomorrow morning a nurse will prepare you for surgery and will bring you to the operating room. I will see you there. Do you have any questions?", he asked, smiling at me.

"How long will it take?", I asked. "Well since its a little complicated I guess an hour maybe longer if there are complications. But don't worry, you're in good hands.", he said and I smiled. "Before I go, I would like to check your cast again. Any problems, does anything hurt or feel squished?", he asked.

"No, everything feels fine, except for the pain sometimes.", I answered. "Thats normal for a broken leg. Tomorrow we'll take it off anyways but after the surgery you'll get a new one for a few weeks until the fracture is more stable.", he said. He inspected the cast and brushed over my toes. "Do you feel that?", he asked and I nodded. "Alright then I'll see you tomorrow in the operating room.", he said with a smile.
