"For you to get the gold and my daughters hand in marriage, you need to bring her back here safely.", the King said, a knight in shining silver armor bowing in front of him. "I won't disappoint you my King!", the knight answered, standing up and beginning his journey.

Y/N P.O.V

I just walked into the forest to find something to eat, when I heard fighting. "Not again!", I groaned quietly, making my way back. Walking out of the forest I saw a knight, trying to kill Rivrem with his sword. I hurried towards them but then the knight slashed at Rivrem claw, hurting him. "Stop! What do you think you're doing!?", I shouted, making the knight turn around confused, while I hurried to Rivrem.

"Everythings going to be alright, I'll take care of him.", I soothed Rivrem, inspecting the gash on his claw shortly. "What in gods name are you doing!? Get away from the dragon before it hurts you!!", the knight shouted, making me even angrier. I turned around and crossed my arms in front of my chest. "I would appreciate it if you left Rivrem alone and made your way back to the village.", I told him sternly, watching his face contort from confusion to anger.

"Listen up princess, I was send here by the king to slay the dragon and take you back to the castle and I won't let you stop me.", he answered, gripping his sword tightly. "When are they gonna learn it?", I asked annoyed, looking at Rivrem. He gave a little growl as to say he doesn't know. "Learn what?", the knight asked as I advanced towards him. "You said the King send you?", I asked and he nodded, watching me still walking closer to him.

"Alright. The King, my father, knows exactly where I am, that I'm not in danger and that I want to stay here out of my free will. So I don't need a knight in shining armor like you to save me!", I said, poking the chestpiece of his armor, making him back away from me. I only stopped when he stepped into one of my selfmade traps, his foot getting caught in the rope. Before he could notice the trap, he was already hanging from a tree upside down, loosing his sword in the process.

"Woah, hey!", he shouted, making me laugh, while I picked his sword up from the ground. "See, I don't need to be saved and I sure as hell won't come back to the castle. If you make it out of there, maybe you could tell the King that I'm dead. Then he would stop bothering me.", I said, smiling at him one last time, before turning and walking away with his sword. "Hey, you can't leave me here like that!", he shouted and I heard Rivrem growl.

When I turned back to him, I saw Rivrem growling at him. "Rivrem, that's enough! Come on, I'll take care of your injury!", I called and he huffed, making the knight swing back and forth slightly, before hurrying towards me. I laughed at the giant dragon and he send me a sour look, while we walked towards the cabin we called our home.

Arriving there, Rivrem layed down in front of it, curling up into a ball. "I'll be right back with food and medicine for your injury, alright?", I said and he huffed slightly. I smiled, patting his head, before walking inside. I got something to wrap his claw with and a rabbit I catched in the forest yesterday. Back outside I layed the rabbit down in front of him and took his claw into my hands, inspecting the gash again. While he ate quietly, I wrapped his injury carefully.

I sighed and leaned against him, making him look at me confused. "Do you think we'll ever live in peace?", I asked and he growled a little, nuzzling my head with his snoot. "You're right, we're just gonna make our own peace. Maybe one day we'll fly away to another place where no one will find us.", I said, petting his neck lightly. At some point I must've fallen asleep since I was woken by Rivrem growling deeply, while wrapping his wing around me tightly.

"What is it?", I asked him quietly, trying to see what he was seeing. Following his line of sight I saw the knight from earlier, walking up the hill and towards the cabin. "Him again.", I grumbled, pushing Rivrems wing away from me to go and grab the sword from inside the cabin. I stood a good feet in front of the cabin, holding the sword out in front of me. "Stop right where you are!", I said and the knight laughed. "Put the sword away princess, before you hurt yourself.", he said, coming as close as he could.
