I loved my job and was really good at what I did. Other people would say it was just a boring office job, but I found my passion in it. Like every morning I sat down at my desk with a cup of coffee, turning on my computer which took forever to start. But since I was good at my job I had the time to wait for the computer to start. Other people at the office needed to be there earlier to start their shift because the computers were so slow. I sipped at my cup, hearing my colleague Marc sigh frustrated.

"What's wrong Marc?", I asked, looking over at him. He looked at me annoyed like always when I asked if I could help. "Like you care 'worker of the month', 'Ms. top of the office'!", he snapped and I sighed, standing up and walking over to his desk. "You know, I do. But I told you a lot of times already. So show me what you're struggling with and I can help you.", I answered and he groaned, reluctantly showing me his problem. After a few minutes of me explaining he understood what he did wrong and seemed atleast a little grateful.

I sat back down at my own desk after helping him, getting started with my own work. In the late afternoon I was done with my work and could go home before everyone else. Most hated me for that but it was earned through hard work.

The next day was the same, except for Marc suddenly standing at my desk. "Can I help you?", I asked friendly and he really managed a smile. "Well, I kind of wanted to apologize for snapping at you yesterday. I appreciate your help.", he answered, surprising me. "Oh, no worries. I'm glad I could help.", I said, smiling at him. "I actually got something for you. I collect crystals and found this talisman in a shop a few weeks back. I hope it gives you good luck.", he said, placing a clear crystal on my desk that shone in different colours when hit by light.

"Thank you, you shouldn't have.", I said, taking the crystal and examining it. "No, I was an ass and I want to make it up to you. Well, I better get back to work.", he answered, walking back to his desk. I looked at the crystal for a while, wondering if it was maybe poisonous or something. But I decided to think Marc just got nice. After work I went home again, waiting at the bus stop. The ground was still wet and there were puddles from when it rained earlier but I just stepped around them. Then I finally saw the bus coming, it was unusually late today.

To my surprise though, the driver didn't stop and splashed me with the water of a big puddle as well. I called after him but he didn't seem to notice me, like I was invisible. After walking home drenched that day my luck turned even more bad. Somehow someone stole money from my bank account, I overslept multiple times and was late for work, because of the stolen money I couldn't pay my electrical bill and my computer at work didn't want to start, resulting in me getting scolded by my boss.

I was completely exhausted after a week full of bad luck, slumping in my deskchair slightly. When I sighed, Marc stopped tapping on his keyboard and looked over at me. "Everything alright?", he asked and I shook my head no. "Had a really ruff week. All this things happened, I lost money, couldn't pay my bills and now my computer doesn't want to work.", I answered frustrated and there was a look of guilt on his face. "Oh no, maybe it's the crystal I gave you! Normally it just strengthens the luck, good or bad, that someone is experiencing. But I thought you're having good luck only. I'm sorry.", he said and I smiled slightly.

"I normally have good luck only. I don't know, maybe I just have a bad week.", I answered but he shook his head no. "I think it's the crystal. Better throw it out and to make sure, I'll give you a good luck spell. Then everything should be back to normal!", he said, rummaging through his work bag. "Oh no, you don't need to! Where do you even get all of this?", I asked and he smiled. "I'm a little into that stuff, it just fascinates me. Here, take this and follow the instructions. Then your luck should be back to normal!", he said, holding a rolled up piece of paper out to me. It looked kind of old and felt rough when I took it from him.
