I was just mixing some herbs and fluids to create a paste for one of the villagers, when my front door swung open and two knights stormed in. "Y/N L/N you're acused of witchcraft and therefore will be taken into a cell at the castle until your trial!", one of them said, while the other grabbed me, wrapping my hands into ironchains.

"Who told you that?!", I asked angry, as the knight pushed me out of my cottage. "Doesn't matter witch. Now shut up you filthy woman.", he growled. They brought me to the castle and pushed me into a cell, leaving me there. I silently cursed the one betraying me and telling the knights about me.

I was at the cell for four days now, as suddenly a knight opened the door. I thought I would get my trial now, so his words surprised me. "The king demands your presence.", he sneared at me, wrapping chains around my hands again and leading me out of the cell. "What does the mighty king want from me!?", I asked annoyed, but the knight didn't answer.

A moment later I was shoved through a big double door and stood in front of the king, sitting on his throne. "Why am I here?", I asked annoyed, looking up at the king. "Don't be rude witch, your life is in my hand.", he warned and I sighed. "My son, the prince is really sick.", he continued, after staring me down for a moment.

"And what has that to do with me?", I asked, getting another warning look from him. "No doctor was able to help him and since I already lost my wife, he is all I got left.", he explained, looking at me. I motioned for him to go on. "I am willing to make a deal. You cure my son and I will set you free.", he said, making me perk up.

"Well I could try but I can't guarantee that I'll succeed.", I said. "You need to. Do you accept?", he asked. "Alright. Where is he?", I asked. "First you'll go and wash yourself. You won't speak a word to him and a knight will always be present at the same time as you so you don't get funny ideas. Tell the knight what you need and it will be brought to you.", he said, a knight coming to my side, guiding me out of the room again.

After washing up and getting clean clothes I was escorted to the princes chambers. "Remember, not a word to the prince.", the knight warned. I just nodded and he knocked at the door before opening it. I walked in first, looking at the prince, resting in his bed. His shoulder length, brown hair was splayed out around him on the pillow, his eyes were closed.

It seems that he was sweating a lot, indicating a fever. "Go to work witch!", the knight demanded and I walked towards the bed slowly. He was breathing quiet heavy and as I layed my hand onto his forehead I felt him burning up. "He has a high fever. I need a bowl of cool water with a washcloth and some herbs. Can you read?", I asked the knight, without looking away from the prince, who seemed to sleep or be unconscious. "Yes, why?", he asked back.

"I need a piece of paper and a writing feather. Then I'll write down all the herbs I need. And I need them quick.", I said and he mumbled something incoherent, before walking to the door to get a piece of paper and a writing feather. All the time the knight was gone I looked at the prince. He seemed to be in pain and that somehow made me feel sorry for him.

That is until I remembered that he some day will become king and hunt people like me as well. The door opening pulled me out of my trance and I looked at the knight walking in. He put a bowl of water with a washcloth in it and paper and a writing feather on the table, turning to me. "Alright, get to work witch.", he snarled and I walked over, picking up the feather. I wrote down every herb I needed and gave the paper to the knight without another word. I pulled the washcloth out of the water, wrung it out a little and walked back over to the princes bed.

I layed the cloth onto his forehead, making him jump slightly. He seemed to breath more even which seemed like a good sign to me. I patiently waited for the knight to come back and as soon as he did I got to work. I mixed herbs with a bit from the water, creating something like a cold tea. I walked over to the bed with the bowl and set it to the princes lips, making him drink it slowly.
