Like always before starting my shift as a guard at Cedar Hill I walked to his grave. The grave of Eric Carr. I never met him when he was alive, but he inspired me in so many ways and I just wanted to thank him in a way. Today was the 30 year anniversary of his death, so I layed down a single rose in front of the stone with his name on it.

"I hope you're alright, whereever you are now. Thank you for inspiring me, day after day.", I said with a smile, before walking to the front gate to take over from my colleague. I had the nightshift tonight and prepared the whole mausoleum for the night, after the last visitor left. I dimmed the lights and closed every window, as well as the front gate.

Even though noone would be able to get in, I needed to stay the whole night in case someone did get in. There were a few objects displayed of the famous people layed to rest here, meaning it was worth stealing them. After closing everything off, I made my first round. Everything was fine and the rest of the night went by really quick. Then, half an hour before my shift ended, on my last round I heard a noise from one of the showcases.

I made my way there, hand on my taser and grabbed my flashlight. As I rounded the corner, I saw someone trying to pry open a showcase. I grabbed my taser and turned on the flashlight, pointing it in his direction. "Hands up and step away from the showcase!", I said. He dropped his crowbar to the floor and held his hands up. "Turn around slowly and get on your knees.", I said, walking towards him carefully.

He turned around slowly, looking at me slightly pissed. I couldn't really tell, cause he wore a mask and I could only see his eyes. "Get on your knees!", I demanded, pointing the taser at him. He got down on his knees and I walked past him, not looking away from him until I was behind him. I looked at the showcase, only seeing a few scratches and felt relief wash over me.

I turned around to him, to try and get ahold of him until the police would arrive, but he stood to his full height again, headbutting me and making me fall against the showcase, losing my taser. "You're bad security, never look away from a burglar.", he said, grabbing his crowbar and lifting it in the air, ready to strike.

He tried hitting me with it, but I could dodge it. He hit the wall next to me, creating a little hole in it. He grumbled a little and tried again, hitting my head slightly, making me see stars. I also thought I saw a light behind him, but it was probably due to the hit. He lifted his hand for the final strike, but someone held onto his crowbar from behind.

Confused he turned around, receiving a punch in the face that made him stumble a little and drop his crowbar, before he tried to hit the person in anger. "I would stop if I were you, the cops are already on their way. They should arrive any minute now!", the man said and the burglar ran away frightened, forgetting his crowbar on the floor. I breathed in deeply, thankful for this mans help, even though I didn't know where he even came from.

"Thank you for your help Sir, but where did you come from? I closed all the entrances before my shift and I don't think you broke in like that thief.", I asked as I looked at him, not able to see his face in the darkness. "No problem and I don't really know myself how I came here but I'm glad I did at the right time.", he answered, stepping into the dim light that came from the showcases and stretched his hand out to me.

I felt my breath hitch as I looked at his face and felt all the blood leave my own, making me look pale like a ghost. He looked at me concerned and tilted his head to the side. "Is something wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost!", he asked and I wanted to laugh at the irony but was still too shocked. "That's not possible, you're dead....", I mumbled, not able to look away from him.

He furrowed his brows at me and looked concerned. "I'm sure that I'm still pretty much alive. Did you hit your head a little too hard?", he asked and I slowly shook my head no. I stood up with wobbly legs and stretched my hand out towards him, poking my finger into his chest. I half expected it to go through him like if he was a ghost but to my surprise he flinched at my touch.
