"Stop the thief!!", the merchant I just stole an apple from shouted after me. I ran as fast as I could, dodging people left and right and jumped over every obstacle in my way. When I finally made it out of the crowd I bit into the apple, holding onto it with my teeth and ran into an alley. I immedeatly began climbing up the wall of one of the buildings, hiding on the roof.

I peeked over the ledge cautiously, seeing the men that ran after me run past the building and vanish in the crowd. I smiled to myself, happily eating my apple. I lived like this since I was seven years old, when my mother died of pneumonia. I never knew my dad so I ended on the streets, stealing food to survive.

I thought I got pretty good at stealing, getting really athletic as a side effect. After finishing the apple, I tossed the rest of it behind me, down to the ground and began walking over the roof towards the next. That continued until I found a roof I could get off of. With my feet back on the ground I cautiously looked out of the alleyway I stood in, to see if the coast was clear.

When I couldn't spot anyone that could be dangerous for me I casually walked out onto the street. I walked on the edge of the street, following the walls of the buildings, when a poster on one of them caught my eye. I stopped in front of it, beginning to read. Visit the circus and experience the magic it read in bolt letters. Then my gaze fell onto the date of the circus coming to town on the bottom of the flyer.

It was coming to town exactly today. I decided to go to the open field in front of the town, where they probably were putting up their camp. A few minutes later I looked at many different people running around and getting all kinds of boxes and containers to some place, while others set the tent up behind them. I decided to walk through the people hurrying from one place to the other. Who knows maybe there is something worth stealing here. Noone payed me any attention so I was able to get to a group of smaller tents, probably from the artists of the circus.

A partially big tent caught my eye and I looked around making sure noone saw me, before slipping inside. Luckily there was noone inside, so I began looking through the stuff there. It was mostly clothes and make up until I found a box of jewelry. I smiled as I looked at all the shining pieces, until it was pulled out of my hands and someone grabbed my arm. "What are you doing here little thief!?", a woman with a snake patterned dress asked harshly, as she put the box back where I found it.

"Let go of me!", I answered angrily, trying to get out of her grip. "Stop it, we're going to the director! Let's see what he has to say to you.", she spat at me and dragged me out of the tent. She dragged me across the field of tents, going for the biggest right in the center. Dragging me inside I saw two men that seemed to talk about something important until we disturbed them."Camilla what is it?", the one with the combed back black hair and moustache asked. "I found this little thief trying to steal my jewellry!", she answered, pulling on my wrist hard enough to make me fall to my knees in front of her. "Well, don't you know what happens to thiefs that try to steal from the circus?", the man asked, looking down on me sternly, while the other one just watched.

"I don't care enough to know.", I answered coldly, earning a slap to the back of my head from Camilla. I send her a sour look, hearing the man chuckle. "You're stubborn. Well, thiefs that get caught stealing from the circus are never seen again. Might be because of our animals, you know, the lions and tigers.", he said, making my eyes go wide as he grabbed my arm, starting to pull me with him. "Wait Herman!", the other man that talked to Herman before we entered chimed in. He had shoulder long, brown curls and soft brown eyes that looked at me worried. Herman stopped and turned around, looking at the other man sceptical. "No one noticed her walking around here and slipping in the tent, right? And she looks really athletic to me.", he said, making both Herman and Camilla look at him confused.
