Trinity's POV
Since our little "date" on Valentine's Day, Adnan's tried to call me a few times. Obviously, I ignored his attempts to catch my attention. I've thought a lot about this situation and came to the conclusion that he's only faking this thing. It'll be like every other football player, athlete, celebrity. They don't really care about you, they only say that. What an idiot that guy was. Thinking I would just fall for his tricks so easily. Yeah, well he better dream on because the only times where he'd be able to successfully get me would be in his dreams.
It's been a long time since the two of us made contact, but really, who cares. I can't believe my sister adores that guy so much. All she does is talk about him. It gets super annoying after a while because I can literally predict every word that will leave her mouth.
"Trinity!" My sister bellowed from downstairs.
"What is your deal?!"
"Mom says you have to come shopping with me!"
"Mom!" I screamed.I stomped my feet loudly down the staircase. I saw my mom so peacefully reading in her chair, as if nothing was wrong.
"You know I don't like going with Savannah everywhere!"
"Please, just this once," she didn't look up from her book.
"I can't believe you! Ugh, where's dad?!"Angrily, I pushed Savannah out of the way, causing her to hit the wall.
"Weak..." I muttered.
My dad saw me approaching, "Hey, Trinity!"
"Dad, did you know about this?!"
"Know-"
"Don't you pretend not to, you must have heard me yelling!"
"Calm down, just go with your sister."
I shook my head and placed my hands on my hips, "Unbelievable."My sister skipped down the driveway and hopped into the car. I sighed and got in too, knowing if I didn't Id be forced to. Man, I could not believe this whole situation. Surely Savannah could have gone out herself without having me come alone. Also, I bet she didn't even want my company.
The two of us arrived at the Trafford centre. She drove around, chewing her gum, blasting the stereo, while trying to find a parking spot. When she found one, she stepped out of the car and walked ahead of me at a brisk pace. I trailed behind and was caught off guard when she chucked the car keys at me. I fumbled around with them in my hands before I lost my grip on them. I made an annoyed face at her and bent down to pick up the keys. She motioned for me to keep up with her.
She slinked past the many bodies and was about to enter a store when I pulled her by the arm.
"Savannah, why're you going into Selfridges?"
"Um, I want a dress from there... Duh."
"You can't afford that."
She gave me one of her looks, "Don't even worry about it, I've got it covered."
She shooed me away, but I caught up to her again, "Who's paying for-"
"Ah! I said leave it to me, go look around or whatever."She brushed off my hand from her shoulder and went to go look through the racks. Ugh... I awkwardly looked around. I kind of felt like I didn't fit in. There was no way I could but anything here with my part time job at a bookstore... A certain jacket caught my eye. I was interested in it until I looked at the price tag. £239.00! Never mind, then.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. At first, I assumed it might be my sister, but she wanted me to stay out of her way, so why would she come to me? I froze. The hand on my shoulder was also much bigger than hers. Hesitantly, I turned around.
I was greeted with open arms, "Trinity!"
"Adnan? You scared me, what the hell are you doing here?!" My heart was racing, I thought some random man was behind me.
"Seeing you!"
"How did you know I'd be here?" I questioned.
"Uh- um... You know I just... Figured, you know..."He was stuttering an awful lot which made me wonder... Stalker. Most girls would've been pleased with Adnan Januzaj following around, but not me. This was actually kind of creepy. Although, my sister would have probably loved it.
"What do you say we ditch this place and go out somewhere?"
"Go where exactly?" I wasn't too sure where this was going and I didn't like the sounds of it...
"I don't know, movies?"
"I guess, but I can't just disappear..."
"I don't think your sister will even notice you were gone. From the looks of it, she could be here for hours."He pointed to my sister who stood quite far away from us. She had two dresses in hand and was looking at a third one. Savannah was lost in thought. Hmm... Maybe Adnan was right. She wouldn't notice, yeah?
"You know what? Sure, let's go for it," all I knew was that going to a movie was way better than standing around here waiting on my sister.
"Great, come on!"Adnan grabbed me by the hand and pulled me out of the store. I spun around and tried to keep up with his. He pushed his hat down further and put his hood on. We raced past people. Ok, I have to admit, it wasn't that bad having his presence around. We were screaming and laughing and causing a commotion. People probably looked at us like two reckless teenagers, which we practically were.
I found myself being dragged into Odeon Cinemas. He bought two tickets to go watch "Insurgent" after I lost the battle to who was going to pay. Instead, I bought the snacks which didn't make him too happy because he wanted to pay. We found two seats near the end of the row and isolated ourselves from most people.
During the movie, we munched on popcorn and I occasionally threw some at him. It was fun- Wait, no. How come whenever he's here he can just change my feelings for him?! I needed to get him out of my head, I just... Can't feel this way. Why is all this happening to me in particular?
The movie was still playing and I was starting to feel sick to my stomach. Being so close to him. Oh, crap. Adnan moved his hand out to where mine was laid on the armrest. I flinched and pulled my hand away before standing up and hurrying down the steps. I sprinted out of the theatre and headed straight into the washroom. I locked the stall door.
"Trinity!"
"What?!"
"Where'd you go? Can we just finish the movie? Are you alright?"
"Can you just take me home..." My voice echoed in the washroom.
"Sure," he muttered.I walked out and saw him standing outside. I kept walking past and didn't make eye contact with him. I eventually slowed down my pace to let him lead the way to his car. I got in on the left with him on the right. It was silent for the most part until he had to break the silence.
"What happened to you?"
"None of your business."
"I just hope you're ok," he was trying so sound like he cared... What a joke.Adnan's POV
I don't understand why her mood changed so suddenly. Was it because I tried to hold her hand? Wow, why did I have to be so stupid?! It seemed like every time I tried to make an effort, she'd shut me down. Maybe she just really doesn't like me, like she said from the start. But, I thought that Valentines Day dinner might turn things around. Guess not.
"I'm perfectly fine. Turn here, please."
"I know."
"You're such a creep."
"Is that supposed to be a joke?" I honestly didn't know where she was coming from.
"No, I meant it. You follow me home and randomly appear at my house."
"I wanted to make sure-"
"I was safe, yeah, yeah. Whatever, don't care."She had cut me off and started to get this attitude. Where was that coming from?
"Oh plus," she added, "you just find me out shopping. Shouldn't you be playing with your national team?"
"How do you know that I should be?"
"Uh..." She stuttered. Maybe she did have an interest in me, "my sister was blabbing about all that stuff."
"To answer your question, no I'm not playing with them. I didn't get selected to play..."She went silent as I rolled into the driveway of her house.
"Bye."
"See you..."What just happened?
