The plane journey was fast, I only slept for ten minutes because I was too excited to finally see my family after such a long time.

After, what felt like, an extremely long flight of laughter and talk, we finally landed and started getting off of the plane.

"The almost Portofino air is just different." I said as we stepped out of the airport, ready to meet my brother who was going to wait on the road outside of the airport since the airport was full and super busy. At this time of year, many people were arriving at the airport, which was the nearest to Portofino for holiday.

"It smells fresher than the city air." said Damiano.

"You just read my mind, Damiano David." I said as he winked at me.

"Because I just know you so well, Lennie Agosti." he said and I laughed.

"No one knows me better than Mr. David himself." I said and he nodded energetically.

"Exactly." he said as we left the airport and entered the main road.

I smiled widely when I saw my brother leaning on his car a little way away as he smoked his usual cigarette, not facing us but facing the road ahead.

"I want to scare him." I said to Damiano quietly and he smirked, nodding.

We slowly walked up to his car and I walked behind him. I put my hands on his shoulders and whispered a hello in his ear. He jumped and turned quickly to face me and Damiano who stood on the walkway, smiling.

"Lennie!" he hugged me amd I hugged him back. "God, it's so good to see you. And you Damiano!"

He went and quickly hugged Damiano too.

"Dannie just loves me." Damiano joked and we laughed as we sat in the car after putting our suitcase in the back of my brother's car. We only brought one shared suitcase because we were only staying the weekend.

"I sure do. Lennie really made a great choice of boyfriend." he said and then turned to me. I sat in the passanger seat next to him. Damiano persuaded me to sit next to my brother because I haven't seen him in so long and that he'd be fine by himself. "You look tired," he started the car as I leaned back inti the seat. "is something wrong?"

"No, university exams are just stressing me out lately. Lots of revision, Damiano bought us ticket for me to relax before my exams." I smiled at Damiano.

"I wish I had a boyfriend like Damiano." Dannie pretended to wipe fake tears.

"We can share him." I said, waving my hand at him and we all burst into laughter. "Sharing is caring."

"Technically, I'm cheating on both of you." Damiano said and we all laughed again.

The drive home wasn't long since the city that we landed in wasn't too far from Portofino but also because I had so much catching up with my brother.

We got out of the car that was parked in front if my childhood and family home. We walked into the kitchen where my grandmother was making pie.

"Dannie, who have you bo - " my grandmother turned around but stopped when she saw me. "Lennie, my dear granddaughter!"

She walked up quickly to me and hugged me.

"Nonna!" I exclaimed, hugging her back. "It's good to see you healthy."

"And you brought Damiano?" she excitedly hugged the man who stood next to me. "Oh, your parents will just be delighted. Giana! Stefano! Get in here!"

We heard the wooden stairs creek as someone walked in and then someone walked in through the open door to the large back garden.

My mother gasped when she saw me and my father screamed jokingly and we all laughed.

"It's Lennie!" he exclaimed, waving his hands in the air. He always joked, I loved him for that I also got that from him. I couldn't go an hour without joking.

"Oh, my daughter!" my mother wrapped me in her arms. "I missed you so much!"

"Finally I have someone to help me with the flowers in the garden so that I don't have to do it all by myself." my father winked at me as he walked up to me and hugged me. My mother moved to hug Damiano and greet him. She simply adored Damiano, so did my father.

"If I help you with your flowers then you're helping me study." I said.

"No, no." said Damiano. "I bought these tickets for you to relax and finally see your family, you are not studying. No way, not under my control."

"You bought the tickets?" exclaimed my mother. "Oh! Thank you!"

"No problem." he smiled charmingly at my mother. "She wasn't resting from her studying and I knew she hadn't seen you guys in almost two years so I decided, since I have these couple days off, I could buy these tickets."

We talked for some while and Mixi, the dog I have had since I was fifteen, ran in and started licking me and then she moved to Damiano too. My grandfather also came back from meeting his friends later and he was very surprised. We had showered a little while after we arrived and changed into something a little more comfortable but not suitable for sleeping.

Soon, after sitting at the bonfire for a couple hours, it was time for us to go to bed because it was getting late and I was tired after not sleeping much for many days.

When we reached my childhood room I jumped on the bed and just lay there. I heard the suitcase zip and opened one eye.

"Just leave it." I said softly since I was tired. "We'll unpack tomorrow."

"I can do it now and you can sleep if you want." he said and I smiled, sitting up.

"It's alright." I smiled. "We'll both do it together tomorrow. For now, just come here."

He stood up and came to lay down next to me. I hugged him to me and lay my head on his chest. I heard the familiar beat of his heart and smiled as I closes my eyes. His warm hands started playing with my hair.

"Thank you for bringing me here. I love you." I whispered.

"I love you too, darling." he said and I smiled even wider. "I'll get some pyjamas for us because I don't think what you're in now is very comfortable to sleep in."

He got up and took out a pair of boxers for him and a shirt for me. I loved sleeping in one of his shirts, it was my love language. Weird but true.

We both changed and got under the covers of the bed. He put his hands around my waist and pulled me towards him. His body was so warm, I always loved going to sleep with him next to me.

"Goodnight, love." he whispered after turning the light off.

"Goodnight." I smiled and, soon, I fell asleep.
