Evangeline's POV
Thirty minutes before we want to meet with Rowena, Eileen comes over. She suggested getting ready together.
Dean chuckles, seeing how excited I'm. I guess I hide the fear inside pretty well. I'm torn between the excitement of experiencing something new and maybe even fun and the anxiety of knowing we could get into a deadly fight with a whole bunch of demons.
Dean showed me once more how to use the phone he gave me. He demanded to stay in contact with messages now and then. He and Sam will wait in the car a few blocks away. In case of emergency, they would be there quickly. But I will try my best not to let this happen because I know how dangerous it would be if they needed to come inside the club.
Eileen shoves me into the bathroom, placing a bag on the sink.
"What's all that?" I ask her.
"Makeup."
"All of it?" I say while roaming through, "what is this all for?"
Eileen gives me a quick tour, but I'm still confused.
"Wait, so women put all of this on her face to look better? But, aren't they beautiful anyway?"
Eileen laughs: "They maybe are, but some of them just can't get enough. You know what, I will put something on you and maybe you will see. Sit down."
She places me on the toilet and starts to put these powders on brushes and grease them on my face. She even draws on my eyes with a black pencil and then she uses something on my lashes. Ten minutes later, she is done.
"Have a look."
I get up and look in the mirror. I slightly touch my skin and under my fingertips, I feel the powdery texture. I see my eyes look different. That is something I like, the blue of my pupil is more to see.
"I will do that too. You can go and change."
I get out of the bathroom. Sam and Dean are sitting on the beds.
Dean gets up, eyeing me, without saying a word.
"It's too much, right?" I ask.
"No, no, it's just different. You look pretty." he hands me the clothes and whispers in my ear: "But I prefer you without."
I smile at him, taking the shirt out of his hand. In the corner of my eye, I see Sam watching us, and as much as I would like to kiss Dean for his answer, I gulp it down and head back to the bathroom.
Eileen is already done and also dressed.
When she leaves the room, I change and have a last look in the mirror. The top is much more tightly than my other shirts and the cleavage sits deeper. The pants are right as hell, I have no idea how I can move in them not speak about the shoes. They look pretty, but they are so high.
I stumble outside the bath, saying: "I have no idea how to walk in this."
Dean grabs my hand, steady me, and he makes me walk up and down the room.
"See, it gets better every second," Sam says, watching me trying to walk normally.
I train a few more minutes before Rowena appears again.
She looks at Eileen and me and sighs:" Really? From all I gave you, you both chose this? No. A big no." and she snaps her fingers. In the next second, I notice my clothes change and I wear the dress Dean and I saw first. The one without any fabric at the back. The dress ends not far under my butt, and my legs are bare. Only the shoes are still the same.
I take a look at Eileen and she is now dressed in a short skirt and an off-shoulder top.
Sam and Dean stare at us with wide-open eyes.
"That's way better." Rowena claps her hands one time, "now it's my turn." Her clothes change and she wears a red dress, and her cleavage goes down till her belly button. I see Sam and Dean eyeing the ceiling, clearly uncomfortable.
"Oh, Boys, don't be shy." she laughs.
But Dean just shakes his head aggressively.
"Whatever," she sighs and takes out a tiny bottle, "Evangeline, now." and she shakes the bottle.
"Oh, ok, right." I stalk to my bag and get my bottle.
"You have your safe word?" Dean asks.
"Oh no, I forgot. I need something I won't say out loud in a normal conversation, right?"
"Would be better." Rowena answers.
I need to think for a second and I decide to go with: "Watermelon." I say out loud.
Everyone looks at me confused, only Dean laughs out loud.
"Why Watermelon and why is it funny?" Sam asks.
"Because Dirty Dancing was the first movie she watched and Baby carried a watermelon," Dean explains.
"Whatever," Rowena interrupts," now drink."
I open the bottle and gulp the fluid down, thinking the word three times.
When the fluid hits my stomach, I can feel something scorching in the middle of my body. From there, it extends to the other parts. The bottle glides out of my fingers and crashes to the floor. I gasp loudly, but before Dean or Sam could reach me, the feeling vanished.
"It's ok," I breathe out," it's ok."
"Perfect, then let's go." and Rowena leaves the motel room. Sam and Eileen follow her. Dean stops me for a second, putting a bracelet around my wrist.
I look at him questioningly.
"There is a small blade hidden, but no one will see it."
And he clicks at the side of the silver and the small blade jumps out. With the tip of his finger, he pushes it back again. "Just in case." And he pulls me into him for a kiss.
"Be careful and use the phone as I showed you."
"Promised," I answer and then we hear our names from outside.
We make a short drive to a street right around the corner of the club. The three women of us get out of the car and Rowena leads us the way.
Before we vanish around a corner, I look back. Even in the almost dark street, I see Dean's face frowning.Getting nearer to the club, I can hear the music blasting loud already. A few people stand outside of the street.
"Don't worry. Everything is going to be okay." Eileen says when she clings her arm with mine.
At the entrance, two ridiculous tall and broad guys guard the door. In front of us, I can see how they refuse to let a group of men in. I hope they will let us in.
But the guards only look us up and down once, then one of them nods and the other opens the door.
Heat, smoke and thunderous music strike against us, but Rowena just march in. People stare at her because of her gracious behavior.
We follow her to the bar, where she sits down and immediately turns to the barkeeper. I can't hear what she says, but Eileen says right into my ear, so I can hear her: "She ordered something to drink."
Eileen and I take a seat beside Rowena and I start to look around.
The place is so crowded you can't see the other end of the room. People stand everywhere, laughing and drinking. In the middle of the room, people dance. This looks like a fun place, not just for us at this moment. I would love to revisit a site like this without any demons in our necks.
I feel a nudge on my arm and Rowena hands me a glass. I taste it and it's delicious.
"But, don't drink fast; we need your brain sober." Rowena slurs into my ear.
She also looks around.
"Do you know what he looks like?" I ask her.
"Yes, and I found him already." her eyes move to a corner. There are couches and small tables. A group of men is sitting there, now and then a girl tries to get their attention but without success.
Then I feel my bag buzzing. I take out the phone and see a message from Dean.
"Are you in? Is he there? Stay safe."
And I type back: "Yes, we are in, and yes, he is here. We need to figure out how to get closer."
I wait for an answer and it doesn't take Dean long: "Don't do something stupid."
I want to light up his mood, so I write back: "Do I look like I would do something stupid?"
And in not even a second, the answer is: "Yes."
I chuckle and put the phone back.
"Ok, we need to get closer. I recommend we dance and see if we can get his attention."
"Rowena, that wasn't the plan. We just wanted to spy, not talk to him. It's too dangerous." Eileen wants to stop her, but she already pulls me with her.
We enter the dancefloor and start to move immediately to the music, so no one gets suspicious.
My back is turned to the area Jesse is sitting with his demons and Rowena peeks over my shoulder. Eileen stayed at the side of the dancefloor, watching us. From time to time, she also peeks over to Jesse. I guess she tries to read their lips. But at least she is doing what we discussed earlier.
As time goes by, Rowena and I are still dancing, I can feel a tap on my shoulder. Surprised, I turn around and see a good looking guy. He is talking, but I can't hear him, so I point to my ear and shake my finger. He leans down and now I can listen to him saying: "Do you want to dance?"
I look at him weirdly:" I'm already dancing."
He chuckles and speaks again: "No, with me."
I smile but shake my head: "No, thank you." and I want to turn back to Rowena, but the guy stops me, grabbing my wrist:" I don't take a no for an answer." he spits out through his gritted teeth.
"Let go of me." and I try to shake his hand away, but it's a tight grip.
Rowena now slides between us and she says something to him that makes him leave my arm. The look on his face is furious, but he slowly backs away.
I look at Rowena: "Is it always like that?"
"Yes, that's why we as women need to be able to defend ourselves. Never forget that."
I nod and we leave the dancefloor and get back to where Eileen is.
We search for a place to sit, and Eileen tells us what she could read on the lips of our target.
"I'm not really sure if I get everything right, but God helps us if I'm right."
"What is it?" Rowena asks.
"I think they were talking about finding the Ark of Covenant."
Rowena and I are baffled, we need a second to understand what Eileen said.
"Wait, the one with God's commandments?"
Eileen nods.
"But, it vanished. Not even the Angels know where it is."
"That's what I thought too, but it seems like he wants the Ark because the stories tell about the power she is holding."
"Believe me, when she is still existing, you have no idea what we will have to cope with."
Rowena remains silent and we now look at her.
"Rowena?" I address her.
But she only points past us. We follow her finger and see the man named Jesse standing right in front of us.
He has a grin on his face, and it would look almost friendly when his eyes would smile too.
The four other men around him crossed their arms on their chests.
Jesse sits beside me, which makes me extremely uncomfortable and I try to glide away, but he is faster. He holds me on my upper arm and he whispers so that only I can hear him: "Do you really thought, you could hide who you are?"
