Evangeline's POV
We have a fifteen-hour drive ahead of us. Enough time to come up with a plan. After a few hours of driving and chatting randomly, Sam starts talking about the mission ahead of us.
"Ok, I want you all to know the names of Jesse's birth mom and adoptive mom. It's either Julia Wright or Camille Turner. So, if the night hound is going to attack, just shout out these names." He explains, making sure Eileen sees his hands and lips.
"And when it comes to Jesse himself, all we can do at first is try to hurt him. I'm not sure if we can get that near to using the demon blade. Even so, we still don't know if the blade will kill him."
"I bet he already has something planned out," I reply and see Dean's eyes in the mirror.
"What do you mean?" he asks.
"I'm just saying, we should be careful with every move and step we make. I haven't seen him clearly in my visions, but I would swear he is there."
Dean nods:" I think so too. That's why I got us all bulletproof vests."
"You did?" Sam asks.
"Yes, I know we never used them before, but I had the urge to protect us better this time. At least we won't be easy victims. The vests will hinder knives as well."
We all nod in unison, knowing Dean is right. We can't take any risk and I will do anything possible to protect the people I love. SoI ask them:" Would you all give me a promise?"
"Depends on the promise," Dean answers sternly.
I smile weakly, knowing he won't agree:" Please, if I tell you to run or to hide, just do it."
"No," Dean replies and I see he grips the wheel tight," that's out of question. I will not leave your side."
"Dean! In the worst-case scenario, you have to. If the ark is there and Jesse opens it, I'm quite sure it will kill all of you. I can't risk that."
"And I can't risk that either," Dean shouts out," Eve, we are not discussing that...."
"Yes, Dean, we do exactly that," I interrupt him and loudly go on," I swear I will beam you back to the bunker and will head down there alone. I'm not joking."
The car is silent after my words and Dean hits the brakes, jumping out of the vehicle. I get out too and request Sam and Eileen to stay inside.
Dean paces back and forth, his hands are clenched to fists. He looks at me, not stopping his movements.
"That is not funny, Eve. You really think I would let you ever do something alone again?" he frantically shakes his head and when he finally stops walking around and I get a better look at him. My whole inside feels like falling out of my body. Tears are floating in his eyes.
"Dean." I whiff out his name and rush towards him, cupping his face. I brush over his skin with my thumbs:" I know you are afraid and I love you for caring, but this will not be something you can do. That is not your fight. It's mine. I have known about it for a while now."
"What are you talking about?" he asks and his voice is raspy.
I shake my head:" I can't... I..." I stop speaking and I see the anger in Dean's face.
"Eve, what are you hiding?" he grabs my shoulders and shoves me away from him a little. Now my eyes are filled with tears. I wipe them away and whisper:" It doesn't matter at the moment. Just let us get through with it."
And I turn away, wanting to go back to the car.
"No!" Dean yells behind me," not before you tell me what you are up to!"
I face him once more:" No, and now let's keep moving. We can't waste more time."
I leave him standing there and get in the backseat again. Sam and Eileen eye me, but I just shake my head. Eileen pulls me in a hug and the tears are now floating down my face. When Dean enters the car again, I wipe my face and pull away gently from Eileen, giving her a weak smile. Dean starts driving again and I avoid locking my eyes with him through the mirror.
Sam waits a while before he asks:" So, is there anything we should know?"
"Ask Eve, it seems like she has a plan we all don't know about," Dean answers through gritted teeth and Sam turns around, looking at me with arched eyebrows.
"Eve?" I hear the worry in his voice, but again, I just shake my head. "No, no, no, Eve, you need to share what you know. Please. We are worried."
"I know Sam, I'm worried too. That's why I can't tell."
I feel a hand on my shoulder, it's Eileen and she says:" It doesn't matter, we will be by your side. No matter what happens."
"Thank you," I reply and make the motion with my hand.
Sam now has a similar look on his face as Dean, but less angry, more anxious.
We all are silent, and everyone is hanging on their thoughts. I'm mostly aware of what will happen, but if I'm going to tell, Dean will make sure to get me as far away as possible. He would even handcuff me, to be clear.
When the sun starts to set, we arrive at the canyon area. We staff ourselves with weapons, knives, lights and Dean demands us to wear the vests.
"Don't forget the googles, I think you will need them." I remind the others.
"What about you?" Eileen asks, shoving a Google above her head, so it's hanging around her neck, like a necklace.
"I will not need them." I just answer.
"Where do we start?" Sam asks, looking around.
I look around, too, until I look in a direction and my senses get on a high alert.
"Jesse is here, I can feel him," I pointed in a specific direction," this way."
I start walking, the rest follows me. Directly I enter a path leading down into the canyon. The entrance leads into total darkness, and Dean stops me before I can get into it.
"Let me go first." his palm is placed on my shoulder, he looks down at me sternly.
"Ok. Be careful."
He nods and pecks my lips before he goes ahead. He switches the light in his hand on, and so do we. Slowly we follow the path. Now and then, we can see the night sky through the holes in the canyon roof. If this isn't going to be a suicide mission, I would enjoy the view.
After passing a massive amount of the canyon with all his caves, Dean stops walking. He turns and says:" Dead end."
I pass him, laying a palm against the stone. My fingertips slowly scrap the dust until I find an indentation.
"What is that?" Dean asks behind me.
"An Angel's door. The inscription is Enochian. Only angels can open the door by reading it out loud."
"And Jesse," Dean adds.
"Yeah, a creature like him wasn't even imaginable when these doors were built," I answer," can you help to lay it open?"
Nodding, they all help wipe away the dust from the last centuries. One letter after the other appears. I glide over them with my fingertips.
"What does it say?" Dean asks.
"It's Enochian. I wonder who sealed this. But it says: Here it lies hidden in the lap of the earth. Only the worthy will appreciate its splendor. Speak and enter."
"Sounds like the Gates of Moria." Dean replies, but I just look at him:" What's Moria?"
"Doesn't matter, so what do you need to say so that one opens. Abracadabra?"
I snort:" No, mostly it's much easier." I place my palms on the letters and say:" Aperi te."
I hold my breath, waiting for something to happen.
"Ok," Dean says immediately," let's tear that apart." and he starts searching for something in his duffel bag.
"No, look." I touch his shoulder and when he looks up, the door slowly swings open.
The air smells musty and every inch of my body doesn't want to enter this hole.
"He is there," I whisper," he is waiting for us."
"What?" Dean shouts out.
"I can feel him. How did he do that?"
"That doesn't matter now, we need to keep going," Sam says from behind and I know he is right. I nod and look over to Dean. He is already standing in the entrance, his flashlight is lighting into the dark.
We all take a last deep breath and pass the door frame. After we take a few steps into the dark, the door closes itself again. Sam jumps back, trying to hold the door open, but he has no chance.
"Leave it," Dean says," I guess we won't make it out alive anyway."
"Always so positive," Sam replies and lightens his lamp too.
One after the other, we march further. Minutes later, our flashes start to flutter and all four shut off simultaneously. Dean lights on a lighter and searches for a torch. It's exactly like in my vision. I grab Dean's arm and he looks at me.
"What? Is everything alright?"
I nod, saying:" Yes, but it's exactly like in my vision. Everything gets clearer now."
"Even more?"
"Yes, first I just had this feeling about how it's going to be, now I'm sure." My heart is pounding so fast and Dean's facial expressions just make it worse.
"Don't look at me like that, please."
"I can't help it, I'm worried."
"I know." I give him a quick kiss," let's go."
I shove him further and we keep on walking. While walking, I can feel the walls beside me and all of a sudden, it feels like the walls fade away. In the light of the fire, we can recognize a massive hall.
Dean looks around and says:" Swear, this is like in the Indiana Jones movies." and even now, he chuckles. Sam passes us, lighting up other torches on the wall. Now we can see better, we see a massive cave. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Why are there no demons?" Eileen asks, looking around.
"He doesn't need them. He is powerful enough." I answer and step down the old and worn-out stairs in front of us.
Hidden in the shadows, I see an altar when we continue stepping down. I stop the others with a motion of my arm.
"Give me your torch, Dean." I wiggle my fingers.
"No, not going to happen."
I shake my head, but Sam already hands me over his.
"Thank you." and go on walking, now in front of Dean.
"Eve, let me..." he claims, but I just don't answer him. There is no point to discuss. So we just approach the altar and when I see what is on top, I almost feel like collapsing. I dig my nails in Dean's forearm.
"Ouch," he hisses, but I say:" Look, we found it."
"Wait, that's it? That's the ark?" he nears with the torch. In the light, we can recognize the shape of it, even the two Isis birds are to see.
"Yes," I whisper and my fingertips touch the surface carefully. In the corner of my eye, I see Dean turning around, glancing through the darkness.
"Where the heck is he?" he asks, and his words echo through the cave.
"I am here," Jesse's voice suddenly rings in our ears. We startle, even though I knew he would be here. I had a slight hope we would somehow manage to be faster.
Jesse comes forth from behind a large stone he had hidden. On his face is plastered an evil grin and he says:" I'm so glad you all made it. I always wanted you all to see me, getting a power beyond your imagination. I mean, I would have preferred to rip you apart at first, but this will be even better." he approaches us and I see Sam, Eileen and Dean pulling out their guns.
"Not one more step," Dean says through gritted teeth. His facial muscles work hard while he holds up his gun against Jesse.
"Oh please, Dean, you should know better by now." and with one motion of his hand, all the guns are flying to the other side of the cage.
