Evangeline's POV

Later the next morning, we start driving the last few hours.
This time I'm sitting in the front, and Sam sits next to Eileen to translate everything in sign language.
Dean doesn't want me to explain while having breakfast at the diner, he was scared we could have been watched and heard.
"So, now tell us where you headed last night." Sam starts.
"Ok," I turn a little in my seat, so I can also see Sam and Eileen a bit," so, again, the Vikings landed on this continent way before Columbus, right? And I read a bit about it. There was a myth that a Christian missionary was on one of the ships. Also, the tale is told, he traveled with a giant wooden box. Not just huge, but massive, especially for that time without vehicles. I mean, he maybe had a horse buggy, but yeah....
So, I searched for the ark on this internet and found a few sources where the ark might be. I searched all of them, Ethiopia, Jerusalem, even the Nebo in the East Jordan, but I found nothing. Well, not exactly nothing...."
"What do you mean?" Dean asks.
"Well, the ark isn't there obviously, but she was."
"Was? So the ark is real? Like real real?" Dean says, and he is clearly surprised.
"Of course," I reply.
"I have no idea why I'm surprised. We saw so much stuff out of the Bible."
I nod and Sam asks:" What did you find?"
"Traces. One story told the ark was burned down in Jerusalem. I could feel the ark was there, but it didn't burn completely. Someone seems to have saved it. Maybe the ark was slightly broken, but not enough not to be saved."
"And you think it was this missionary?"
"I'm just assuming. He lived during that time in that area, or maybe he was just traveling, but don't you all think it's suspicious that he was there when everything burned down and years later he went overseas with the Vikings?"
The three remain silent, thinking about what they just heard.
"When we get back to the bunker, we will have to search in the library." Sam states.
"I feared you would say that." Dean answers, chuckling.
"I'm excited. I love to read all this stuff."
Dean side-eyes me but doesn't say anything.
Eileen and Sam start to do some research already on their phones and I enjoy the view. The landscape changes now and then, but everyone is lovely.
Occasionally, I feel Dean's palm on my leg. I don't know why, but this makes my stomach tingle. It's such an easy move, with a profound impact.

Hours later, Dean finally turns the car into a short driveway. Almost immediately, a woman steps out of the front door. Her face lights up, seeing Sam and Dean getting out of the car. I guess this is Jody. They hug each other. A feeling occurs to me like she could be their mother.
Eileen now steps out, too and I follow her lead. We both stay near the car, not wanting to interrupt, but Jody already spotted us.
"And who are these ladies?" she asks, looking at us.
"Oh," Sam steps back, approaching us, just to lead us to Dean and Jody.
"This is Eileen." he introduces and Eileen shakes hands with her.
"Nice to meet you," Jody says and signs the words with her hands.
I'm still a bit behind, but Dean grabs my hand, pulling me nearer.
"Jody, that's Evangeline," he says.
Jody grabs my palm and Dean goes on: "She is an angel." and I can see Jody's face falling.
"What? But how?" she asks and for a second, I'm afraid she is scared. But instead, she starts smiling again and offers me her hand as well. I let go of Dean and I can see her eyes landing on our before intertwined hands.
"I'm Jody," she says, shaking my hand firmly.
"I'm Eve, nice to meet you, Jody."
She nods and then invites us all inside: "Come one, I bet you are hungry."
"That you can count on," Dean says grinning, "Jody is the best cook." he states to me," you will love it."
I just smile as an answer and follow into the house.
"The girls will be here in a few minutes," Jody says, leading us to the dining area.
"How are they?" Sam asks.
"Pretty good. Alex is still working at the hospital, is with her boyfriend, she seems pretty happy. Claire is still hunting, but she has her home base here and I'm glad about that."
Sam and Dean nod and Jody goes on: "Well, grab your seat, I hope you all like chicken wings."
"Shame on everyone who doesn't," Dean says and claps his hands once before he sits down.
I keep standing for a second, then I choose to follow Jody to the kitchen.
"Can I help?" I ask.
Jody scoops around: "Oh," she answers surprised," yes, I would like a little help."
And she hands me plates and silverware.
"Do you..." she hesitates but then asks," do you know what to do with that?"
I look back at her, confused.
"I'm sorry, that was..." she wants to take it back, but I say:" No, it's ok. Yeah, I know."
"I'm sorry, I'm not used to having help and even less from an angel."
I smile at her: "I will bring these over."
Back at the table, I place the plates in front of Dean, and he starts spreading them.
I help Jody bring the food to the table. Everything smells delicious.
Right before Dean starts to load up his plate, the door swings open and two girls are stepping in.
"Hey, see who we have here." Jody addresses them.
"Yeah, we saw the car, hey Dean, hey Sam." the dark-haired one says, stepping in the room but stops, spotting Eileen and me.
We both just wave awkwardly.
"Claire, Alex..." Jody stands up and motions to the girls first, then over to us," that is Eileen and Eve."
We greet and Sam and Dean hug the girls.
"Ok, now, can we eat?" and Dean finally loads up his plate and starts shoving food in his mouth. He grunts with his mouth full:" Jody, that's awesome."
She smiles and one after the other, we fill our plates too and start to eat.
Jody eyes me for a second before she asks:" Wait, angels need to eat?"
"Only her.", Dean answers for me and chuckles, "she even sleeps."
"Is that unusual?" Alex asks.
"Yes, it is. I don't know why Jack made me that way." I answer her.
We go on talking, and Alex and Jody do have a few questions. Only Claire remains silent until Dean asks her: "Claire, what's wrong? You usually have something to say on every topic."
She glares at him, then at me before she says through gritted teeth: "Which poor soul have you possessed?"
I look at her, baffled. Everyone is silent, just Jody wants to stop her: "Claire."
"No, it's ok. Claire..." I interrupt Jody.
But Claire throws her fork on the table and crosses her arms over her chest:" Well, you angel freaks can only walk on earth, possessing a human. Right?"
I slightly shake my head:" I do not possess anyone...."
"Oh, I wouldn't say that...." Dean interrupts me and I guess he wants to be funny, but we all just shoot him a glance. I go on speaking to Claire:" I know what happened, but angels don't need to possess anyone now. Jack changed that, I guarantee you that. This, what you see, is who I am and what I really look like."
But she doesn't seem to be satisfied and with force, she stands up and leaves the room.
"Don't worry, she will calm down again," Jody says.
I just nod and feel Dean's hand on my leg:" It's Claire, she is...."
"Not always easy." Jody finishes Dean's sentence, "but you know what? I have some pie and I think we should get it now."
"Yeah, pie," Dean yells out.
Alex and Jody start to clean the table. Eileen and I want to help, but Jody stops us.
So we just sit and wait for them to come back.
Dean leans over to me, kissing my cheek. I glance over to Sam and Eileen, they are talking to each other.
I turn my face to see Dean's just a fraction of an inch away. We glance at each other, but before we can kiss, Jody comes back again.
Dean clears his throat and Jody looks at us, curious, but starts giving everyone a plate with pie.
Before I start eating, I glance at Dean. He isn't eating, he is stuffing his mouth till the pie peeks out.
He then recognizes me watching him and he tries to mumble:" Sorry." and he gulps down," this is just too good."
Smiling, I shake my head and eat a piece of my pie.
"Is there ever a chance you will not stuff yourself with pie?" Sam asks.
"No, never." and another fork with pie lands in Dean's mouth.
"Jody, the pie is delicious. Thank you." I say to Jody.
"I'm glad you like it. I'm not sure if it's always that easy to satisfy an angel," she says, smiling.
"She is just like Dean." Sam says," give her pie and bacon and she is fine."
Jody looks at me and I reply:" That's true, I guess. In heaven, I wasn't eating and I have no idea how I survived without it. It's all so tasty."
After we finished the pie, Dean takes a plate with a piece and says: "I will go and bring Claire some."
Jody stops Dean shortly, grabbing his arm:" Thank you." and Dean gets upstairs.
The rest of us clean the table and get comfortable in the Living Room.
"Jody," Sam starts," are the dead bodies still available?"
"Yeah, I made sure of that. Tomorrow we can go and have a look. But I swear, there is nothing to see."
"I believe you, but three pairs of eyes may see more." Sam answers and Eileen taps on his shoulder.
"I will come too. My hearing isn't working, but I smell better," she says and forms her words with her fingers.
"That's a good idea." Jody replies and Sam nods in agreement.
"Should I attend too?" I ask, but before Sam answers, he looks back at the stairs.
"What was that?"
He sighs:" I just know Dean and I can imagine he doesn't want you to come with us."
"What, why?" I shout out," I'm here to help, and I maybe can recognize stuff you, as humans, can't."
"Yeah, maybe," Dean's voice appears and I see him standing in the door frame," but if this is any kind of trap, I'm not ok with it."
I'm so astonished over his answer, I can't say a word right now. Sam instead says: "But, Dean, she is right. Jack let her stay...."
"Can we talk about that tomorrow?" Dean interrupts Sam," We still need to drive to the motel."
Jody was quiet until now: "I made the guest rooms ready. You stay here."
"Jody, we don't want to make any trouble," Sam states to her.
"You are not and you stay, no back talk. Understand?"
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Yes, Ma'am."
Sam and Dean say at once and Jody's face beams up.
"Well, someone wants a drink?"
Everyone nods and Jody brings out some beer.
"So, Eve, let me hear your story. I thought the angels weren't on earth anymore."
Shortly Dean and I tell Jody what happened. Her eyes widen now and then during the tell, but she just listens.
While I talk, I shoot to the edge of the couch, so I can look at Jody when I speak. Now and then, I feel Dean's fingertips caressing my back. And I can see Jody seeing it and a slight twinkle crosses her lips.
When we finish, Jody seems to be amazed by everything she heard in the last minutes.
"Sam," she says," why haven't you called after what happened to Dean?"
"I wanted to, but Rowena was already waiting in the bunker. Then everything happened very fast," he answers.
"Well, it's a bit to take in," and Jody empties her bottle, just to grab another one, "I'm just relieved you are back and healthy. And happy, as far as I can say." and her gaze shifts between Dean and me. "Same goes out to you," and now she looks at Sam and Eileen, "just do me a favor."
"Sure." Dean answers.
"Don't be too loud, there are still teenagers living here."
"Jody," Dean shouts out, but Jody has a massive grin on her face.
"Make yourself a home," she says, standing up," I need some sleep, you do remember we go to the Coroner tomorrow morning."
We all nod and Jody leaves us:" Good night, you all."
