Dean's POV
I drive down the road as fast as I can. My hands grip the wheel tight, so tight, my knuckles turn white. The ten-minute drive feels like an eternity and the car drifts around the corner, arriving at the church. With screeching brakes, I stop the car right in front of the church. The lights are turned on and Sam and I jump out of the vehicle, arming ourselves with every weapon we have in store for demons.
There is no need to be quiet, when they have Eve, Jody and Claire, they already know we are coming.
"What when Jesse is here?" Sam asks," you know we can't kill him."
"I don't care, I will fight him with everything I have." and unlock my gun.
"I guessed that."
We march to the main entry and thrust the door open. Directly behind are two demons, but they aren't fast enough, so we stab them before they can even turn around. At the end of the hall, I can see Jody and Claire tied up in chairs. My eyes search through the space and see Jesse standing behind the altar. Right in front of him is Eve lying on it, handcuffed and she seems unconscious. At least she doesn't move, other than Jody and Claire. They start to move when they spot us, but without success. We start walking again and in the corner of my eye, I see more demons approaching us. We fight our way through the room, punching and stabbing the demons. That's way too easy, is one thing I think about, just when a massive guy steps in front of us. He is so broad, I can't look past him. Sam and I stop in our tracks, but the demon grabs Sam and throws him into one of the benches behind us. I wait for him to turn back to me. Attacking him from behind wouldn't make sense. He also tries to grab me, but I crouch and stab him into his thigh. He yells, but the demon inside him is still there. How is that possible? I look down at my knife, which never failed to kill a demon. The big guy then grabs me at my collar and finally, I hear Jesse speaking.
"Oh, Dean, stop the effort. I made him, you can stab him as much as you want. Hell is freezing before you could manage to kill him."
I angrily glare at him and when I look down, I see what he has done to Eve. Her whole head I poked with spikes. I saw this before in my life and as far as I know, it's pure torture. Jesse is perfectly calm, touching one of the spikes. Eve's eyes shoot open and she starts to speak Enochian.
"Nah, I already know that," Jesse says and moves the spike again. Eve's body weakens again and it looks like she is dead. My anger rises even more and I try to free myself from the massive hands holding me. Jesse notices and clicks his tongue.
"Dean, Dean, Dean. Will you ever learn to simply give up?"
"No," I reply through my gritted teeth, "not before I got my hands round your neck."
I see him chuckling, and he moves another spike in Eve's head. Now she opens her eyes slower than before and starts mumbling some words. I barely hear her, only pieces, but from that, I can put together what she is saying.
"Eve," I shout out, but she doesn't react. She goes on whispering and my eyes shoot over to Jody and Claire. I see Claire wink at me. I hope that means she got her hands free. Jesse's attention is focused on Eve and what she is saying and again, I try to get myself unrestricted when two things happen.
I see Claire jumping up from her chair yelling:" Get down."
Her yell makes the massive guy look over to her and his grip loosens just a bit so that I can crouch down. Just a second later, the snatch loosens entirely and I see his head falling to my feet. The body remains standing a second before it crashes to the floor too. Behind him, I see Sam, holding a machete in his hands. To be on the safe side, I kick the head as far away as I can and get my blade from the floor. Claire is already on Jody to get her free and when Claire pulls away the gag from Jody's mouth, Jody screams:" Dean, Sam, the hair..." she needs to take a deep breath," he has control over us with the hair."
Sam starts to run to a wall, which is covered with small glasses. In every glass is hair stored.
I expect Jesse to stop him, but all he does is move and turn the spines in Eve's head. I take a few steps towards the altar but stop when I see what is in front—the night hound.
It sits there, like a lap dog, watching me. Now I see what Eve told me about. The two pairs of eyes. They are glued on me and I can only barely move any further. This thing is staring so profoundly into my soul, it almost hurts. I force myself to look away, to look at Eve to remind me what I'm here for. I wonder why the night hound doesn't strike at me, and I grip my blade stronger, just in case. Slowly I approach the altar, trying to be careful with my movements, so Jesse has no reason to torture Eve even more.
"Oh, she is a good girl, right Dean?" he asks calmly and now his face is turned towards me," or did you have a different experience with her?" and an evil grin plays around his lips.
"You know," he goes on," it would be so much fun to kill you all, but I want her..." he points down to Eve," to see it in every tiny piece, so she understands where her place now is."
"Her place?"
"Yes, Dean, I told you before she shot me last time, I want her powers. And when she doesn't give them to me willingly, we will just take it the hard way." Jesse speaks so unhurriedly, it's creepier as though he would talk in rage.
All I want to do right now is stab him down till nothing is left, but I need to think first. In the corner of my eye, I see Sam finally lighten up a fire to burn down Jesse's spooky hair collection.
Think Dean, I think to myself, but nothing passes my thoughts that could help right now. Guns, blades, knives, nothing is helpful against Jesse. We can hurt him, but he will heal in an instant.
I still stand frozen next to the altar, glancing at Jesse, who is nonetheless just standing there. I wish I still had the mark of Cain and the blade, maybe that would stop him.
"Oh Dean, you know what? Sit down, all of you." and with a move of his hand, all four of us slide on the first row of the banks. We are unable to move, all we can do is watch.
"So, now the audience finally grabbed their seats, let the show begin," he speaks like a show master and pure horror fills me up when I see that he pushes one of the spikes deeper into Eve's brain.
She wakes up again and slowly, she gets in a sitting position.
"Turn yourself to the guests, dear," Jesse tells her and shows with a palm in our direction.
Eve turns and her eyes are empty, her skin is pale and her movements seem forced. I want to shout her name, but Jesse mutes us. I shift and try to work against the spell, but I have no chance. I have to watch.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this right here, this is just a shell. See?" he waves a hand in front of Eve's face, but there is no sign of living. "But when I do this..." he spins one of the spikes," the shell comes to life again."
Eve's posture changes, her eyes open and close fast a few times, then she recognizes us. Immediately she starts to work against her cuffs, but they are covered with sigils, so even with her powers, she cannot get herself free. I see tears glistening in her eyes when she tries to move and my name slips from her lips, but it's just a whisper.
"That's enough." Jesse touches a spike again and Eve's body weakens again. Her gaze is cold again. " I think I need to adjust her a little more, just to make her wake enough to tell me what I want, but not enough to fight against my will." Jesse is now more talking to himself than to us while he examines the stakes in Eve's head.
Watching this obscure scene right in front of me makes me so sick, weak and so full of hate, I don't know how to handle that. I feel nauseous and want to puke out of fear and at the same time, my head is racing around the many ways I want to kill him.
Suddenly I hear a tiny, tiny crack behind us. Jesse doesn't seem to notice and that's a good thing because in a second, the whole place is filled with red lights and I hear a very well-known voice screaming:" Defendatur!"
Immediately Jesse's body is cast against the wall behind him. The night hound howls loudly but just disperse. Now that Jesse is powerless, we all can move. I turn around, seeing Rowena.
"Hurry, the spell is powerful, but I don't know for how long."
Sam and I rush over to Eve. We look at each other, unsure what to do.
"Just pull them out," Rowena yells at us.
"But..." I reply, but Rowena shakes her head:" She is an angel, she will heal, now pull them out."
"You go, bring Jody and Claire out, I will follow with Eve." I gently push Sam down and he starts dragging the two out of the church.
I lay Eve down again and start to pull out the spikes slowly, too afraid to hurt her even more. When I get the last one out, I carry her bridal style. Rowena was waiting and together, we head out.
In front of the building, Rowena stops, raises her hands and mumbles something. Then the building slowly starts to crash down. Covered in dust, we take a last look at the ruins before we all get into the cars. I put Eve in the backseat, Rowena also, and she lays Eve's head onto her lap.
"Thank you," I whiff. Rowena nods and fast, I get into the car and follow Jody's car.
Back at Jody's, I place Eve on the couch first. She hasn't moved an inch since we left the church. I look around, seeing Rowena is missing. I guess she already headed back to hell. But I'm thankful for her help, again. Later I will learn that Eileen called her for help,  because she couldn't catch one of us on the phone.
"Dean, I'm so sorry." I feel Jody's hand on my shoulder, while I kneel beside Eve. I caress her forehead gently, before I stand up. I hug Jody, saying:" It's ok, but what happened?"
"Well, we sat in the kitchen and it was like someone switched off the lights in my brain and the next thing I know is, we were handcuffed in the church, with Eve lying on the altar." Claire explains, rubbing her wrists.
Eileen comes out of the kitchen, handing out cooling aids. When she spots Eve, she startles.
"Oh my God," she shrieks out and Sam starts to explain to her what happened.
The tension in the room is chaotic, everyone wants to say something or to know something. It's loud and heated. Jody is near to tears when she looks down at Eve. She leaves but quickly comes back and starts to clean Eve's wounds.
"Claire, go to sleep," she says without looking at her.
"What? Why? No!"
"Yes, you do! You need rest."
"Just like everyone else." Claire gets back annoyed, but one glare from Jody over her shoulder is enough to mute her. Angry Claire leaves and we hear her throwing her door shut.
I sit on the floor next to Jody, stopping her from cleaning Eve.
"Jody..."
"No Dean, I'm so sorry."
I rarely saw her crying before and it hits me everytime I see her doing it.
She goes on:" If I would have thought about the hair thing, I could have prevented all this. It was stupid."
"None of us did. We all were stupid enough, above all me, again," I sigh," again I put others in danger. I should have learned my lesson by now. But Jody, what happened?"
"Like Claire said, it was like switching the brain off. I knew what I did, but couldn't do anything against it. Jesse had complete control over Claire and me. We knocked her out and put her in the car. After that, Jesse got us wrapped up too."
I nod, hearing her telling the story shortly.
"It's ok now, it happened. Jody, go get some rest."
"I can stay," she answers but I shake my head.
"No, I will carry her upstairs. The bed is more comfortable. When she is better tomorrow, we will head back to the bunker. And you should descend too. Just in case Jesse comes back."
Jody nods and we hug once again before she leaves.
Sam and Eileen ask if they can do anything but I negate. I drag Eve from the couch and gently I carry her upstairs.
She is still unconscious, even though I carried her around. She is so light, even without any body tension. I lay her down and cover her before I glide next to her. I lay on my side, leaned towards her. I stroke over the skin of her face, placing a gentle kiss on her lips. Eve is still not responding, so I decide to try to get some sleep.
The following day, Eve is still just lying in bed, without a sign of life besides her steady breath.
After we helped Jody, Claire and Alex pack some stuff we all bow out. Eve in the backseat, her head placed in my lap this time.
The drive seems to take forever, even though I usually enjoy fringing. But this time is very different. I look down at Eve's face. At least she seems peaceful. Adjusted I lean back and due to the roaring engine, I fall asleep.
