Dean's POV
Eve and I decided to get married in May. On the fifth, to be exact.
Over The last weeks, I did my best to build our new homes as fast as possible. I let my spouse know about everything, only the baby's room I kept a secret. I never imagined setting a room like that, but here I am. Painting a light purple wall, hanging cupboards and lights in the form of clouds.
Eve went out with the other women, trying to find a wedding dress that fit her. Her belly is clear to see and I love to place my hands on it, feeling Celeste kicking slightly.
I step back, satisfied and ready to bring in the crib. I secretly craft it myself. We don't have anything left from our own childhood to hand over, so I thought a self-made crib would be an excellent idea. On the top, I scratched her initials in the wood, just like we did back in baby and on the table at the bunker. Placing the crib underneath a light, I hear footsteps from the stairs. Intuitively I want to grab my gun before I remember, I don't carry it around anymore. I chuckle to myself and shake my head when Sam enters the room.
"Dean, it looks lovely. Eve and the baby will love it."
"I hope so. I just hope Eve won't get mad because she couldn't set the room herself."
"As if. Is she even able to be mad?" Sam replies with a smile.
"Not really, but now she is going to be a mom."
"And you a dad. Just leave her a little bit to set on her own."
I nod and Sam goes on:" Donna called, she will be here a few days before the wedding. She said she can't wait to meet the person who managed to get you settled."
I chuckle:" Gosh, Eve will love her."
"I guess so too."
I drag Sam out of the room and into the bedroom:" Come, help me build up the bed and closet. I want it done before the wedding."
"You do know, it's still a week?"
"Yes, but there are more pieces of furniture to build. I'm just glad we decided to let the company organize the kitchen."
"Me too. Come, let's hurry."
We manage to be ready right after lunch and when we head back to Jody's house, the others are already back too.
A delicious smell hits me when I enter the house and hear everyone talking in the kitchen.
Sam and I join them and see they brought burgers with them. I kiss Eve hello, and she beams at me.
"Seems like you found a dress?"
"Yes, how do you know?"
"Otherwise, you would be in a different mood, at least I guess so," I answer before I take a bite from the food.
She settles beside me and says:" Oh, I love the dress, it's...."
"Shush!" Jody stops her fast before Eve can describe her dress to me. She startles and asks:" Did I do something wrong?"
"You can't show him or tell him how the dress looks, it has to be a surprise."
"Oh, bummer. I was excited to show you." Eve says to me.
"It's ok, I will survive one more week without knowing."
"Ok," she replies.
After we eat, I take Eve to our house. When we arrive, she says, surprised:" Oh, it looks like it's finished."
I park and help her out of the car:" It almost is. The company built up the kitchen today, Sam helped me with the bedroom and I have something to show you too."
Eve smiles and nods eagerly and together, we step inside. The living room is still empty, besides the built-in shelves and the fireplace. We turn around and Eve's eyes widen, seeing the open kitchen. She decided on a light wooden color with a kitchen island.
"Oh, Dean, I like it so much." She goes and inspects everything.
Minutes later, I show her the bedroom, and I fight the urge to inaugurate the bed so fast that I pull her into the hall and please her to close her eyes. She smiles and does as I ask. I open the door and shove her slowly into the room. I sling my arms around her waist to place my palms on her belly.
"Can I look now?" Eve whispers and I hear how eager she is.
I kiss her neck and answer:" Yes."
My chin is on her shoulder and in the corner of my eye, I see her eyes travel around, taking everything in. Her sight lingers over the crib and she gently leaves me, stepping ahead. Her fingertips drive over the wood until they meet the engraved initials.
"I saw you did that on the table too." she quietly states.
"Yes, and in the Impala."
She turns and returns with a smile:" I like that. It is something unique. But tell me, did you make the crib on your own?"
"Every little curve."
"Then I love it even more. And the baby will too."
Seven days later, I stand in Jody's attic, which I have called home for weeks now. I never had even considered being as nervous as I a right now. From a tiny window, I can see the garden. Alex and Claire outstood themselves. They build a flower arch overflowing with sunflowers. I guess Eve told them why I call her Sunshine.
"Ready?" I hear Sam asking behind me.
I nod slightly:" Never thought I would be, but I'm more than ready."
Sam gives me his huge happy smile, and together, we leave the attic.
Outside, our few friends are gathered. They are already sitting, just Garth's kids are playing around.
Sam has two jobs today. He is my best man, of course, but he will also walk down the aisle with Eve since she has no one else.
Sam leaves me under the arch, together with Donna, who will wed us. I never thought she could smile wider, but here we are, her friendly attitude shining. Her anticipation is almost to feel.
It feels like forever, standing up here alone. The others chat, but I step from one foot to the other. It's not that I want to get over with it. I'm more than happy; I just wish Eve to join me here finally.
After what feels like an eternity, I hear some music playing, wondering where it's coming from, but then I see Claire with a small music box and her phone. My eyes drift back to where Eve is supposed to show up, but instead, Sam comes running down the small path between the chairs. He doesn't look worried, but something seems off. When I shoot him a glare, he just shrugs his shoulders and gets in his position behind me.
I slightly turn and mouth, "what the f...," but now he just grins and says quietly:" Just wait and see."
I roll my eyes and steer my gaze back to where he came from.
Then, finally, the back door opens and two people step out. First, my gaze is locked with Eve. Her white and slightly yellow dress sparkles in the light of the sun. She is holding a bouquet of deep yellow flowers and her left arm is linked with...
"Jack?" I almost yell his name, but it seems like he doesn't hear me. He looks at Eve, a proud look is plastered on his face and his eyes are full of love and joy.
After I overcome the shock of seeing him, my eyes shoot back to Eve, who is now looking at me too. She wears no makeup, as I thought Claire would put on her. As soon as her eyes meet mine, I couldn't help but smile like a fool.
Just seconds later, Jack puts Eve's hand in mine and whispers:" Take good care of her. Otherwise... You know." With a grin, he sits down on one of the chairs.
I don't really listen to him, all my senses are focused on Eve. I kiss her cheek and murmur in her ear:" You look stunning."
She smiles at me. Not her usual smile, it's a smile that tells so much more before she answers:" Thank you. You look amazing too."
As we still stare at each other, Donna clears her throat and, hand in hand, we turn towards her fully.
"Dear Eve, Dear Dean. We all gathered here because the two of you want to enter into marriage. No one here would have thought your paths ever cross, but fate has its own way of putting together what belongs together. Even under the most challenging circumstances, you two proved that what Jack brought together isn't easy to separate."
Eve and I share a glance, and the old feeling of guilt hits me one more time. I know Eve forgave me, but that doesn't mean I'm proud of my past actions.
Donna goes on:" After Eve was ready to give herself, not only for her spouse but for the whole world, God was the one, gracious enough, to give her back to the human who most mourned over her. And only because of this I'm able to ask: Are you two ready to be husband and wife?"
In union, we answer: "Yes."
"Then," Donna replies," I give the word to you. Let's hear your vows."
Hearing these last words, my stomach sinks to my feet. I forgot the vows. I was busy with building the house and all, it slipped my mind. Right in this second, I feel a hand on my shoulder and Sam hands me a paper. Confused, I look down, reading: "Just read this!"
I clear my throat, unaware of what I will read, but I do it anyway:" Eve, since you are new to being human, I swear, to be by your side on bad hair days, burnt coffee, and lost keys." I hear a slight chuckle from our small audience and can't hold back a "Really Sammy?" but after a breath, I go on:" But being serious again, let me tell you, that you're everything that I ever dreamed of and everything I will ever need. Our love for each other is heaven-sent. Today I vow to be here with you and for you, forever and always."
I couldn't have put the words together better than Sammy did. He knows me well enough to put something in to tease Eve just a tiny little bit. I put the paper down, seeing Eve smiling but also a tear running down her cheek. She waits till our gazes meet and pulls something out of the bouquet she is holding. She holds a paper and starts to read:" How lucky am I to call you mine? How lucky am I that my father chooses me to guide you in heaven? Without this decision, I have no idea where I would be now, nor who I would be. You were there for my greatest challenges. You encouraged me to grow. You helped me believe in myself and become who I am today. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to overcome and I'm proud to call you my husband. You are my every dream come true, and I can't wait for the reality we get to build together."
Eve's vow is much longer than mine, but it doesn't seem to bother her. When she looks up again, I recognize my eyes are filled with tears and with a blink, they float my cheeks. Eve lays her palms on my face and wipes my tears with her thumbs before she lays both her hands in mine.
Donna continues:" And now, Dean, repeat after me."
"I, Dean, take you, Eve, to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and bad, sickness and health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."
Donna beams at me and turns slightly to Eve:" Please, repeat after me."
"I, Eve, take you, Dean, to be my husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and bad, sickness and health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."
Donna let the paper she is holding sink and finally, she says:" And now by the power vested in me, it is my honor and delight to declare you married. Go forth and live each day to the fullest. You may seal this declaration with a kiss. I am pleased to present the newlyweds, Eve and Dean Winchester."
Our friends start to clap and cheer while Eve and I stare at each other until Donna whispers:" Dean, don't act like you never kissed her before. Go ahead."
I shoot out of my trance, and eventually, I cup her face and lean down for a kiss. First, we didn't start, and now we don't leave each other's lips. After a while, I hear Sammy:" Ok, ok, you will have plenty of time from now on." His hand lands on my shoulder.
I turn my head quickly, a foolish grin on my lips, but I can't respond because Eve is pulling me with her down the aisle, and to our both surprise, our friends start throwing petals. We make the short way to another spot in the garden. Again, Claire and Alex and managed to bring out the best of the garden. There are tables, chairs, lights, and however they did it, there is a spot with wooden boards on the ground. I guess this is something like a dancefloor.
"What is that?" Eve asks, but instead of me, Donna comes up and answers:" Dean can show you right now. We all want to see the opening dance."
Eve looks confused, I guess she didn't read all the magazines through. Otherwise, she would know. I pull her with me, and just like back in her room in the bunker, before our first kiss, I place her hand on my shoulder and take the other in my hand.
Her eyes widen, realizing what is going to happen.
