"Where did he get all that money?" Jody asks while we sit in her kitchen, drinking coffee, and Sam looks over all the papers.
Sam and Dean have no idea, but after Sam has an overview of all the documents, he states:" It's all ours."
Dean shoots up a little:" What do you mean?"
"Well, I don't know when he did it, but he signed everything he owned to you and me, divided equally."
Dean falls silent before he mumbles:" That son of a bitch."
"Dean, he knew that someday he won't make it back home," Jody says," and he did what every father would have done. He left everything to you."
"Why did he never say anything?"
"How knows," Jody replies," he said was a grumpy old man."
"Dean, we should go to the notary, so it's official."
"And we do that with all our fake IDs? I don't think that's a good idea, Sam." Dean chuckles.
"Well, after everything that happened, maybe it's time for a real ID. And we should get one for Eve too. Otherwise, you two can't get married."
"Oh, I haven't thought about that. But Eve doesn't have a last name."
"Do I need one?"
"For getting a new ID? Yeah, definitely."
"You could use mine," Jody suggests," we could say she is a cousin and lost hers? I mean, I'm the police; no one will doubt that."
"You would do that for me?" I ask her.
"Sure thing, I offered it to Alex and Claire too. But only Alex took the offer," she turns to me," I would be honored if an angel would take my last name, even if for a short amount of time." She smiles at Dean and me and I nod.
"I'm not an angel anymore, but it's me who should be honored."
"Ok, ok, enough chick flick moments," Dean interrupts," let's do this so that we can initiate everything."
"Wait, "Sam shouts out," you need a birthday too."
"I can choose one?"
"Normally not, but since you were born in heaven, I guess you are the one expectation," Dean explains
"When is your birthday?"
"January the 24 1979."
I take a look at the calendar in Jody's kitchen.
"Are you kidding me? That is in two days."
"So?" Dean replies sternly.
"So? I mean, I guess we should celebrate? Presents? Cake?"
"First, I don't celebrate my birthday. Second, who wants cake for their birthday? It has to be pie." Dean answers chuckling.
I look at him with narrowed eyes:" First, you do celebrate your birthday now. And second, I don't care if it's pie or cake."
"Wait," he shouts out," I would take a cake on one occasion."
"Oh, please don't say it," Sam says, laughing, but Dean ignores him.
"When the cake is over-dimensional and you jump out of it in a bunny costume." he gets nearer while he says that, but all I can do is look confused and the others are laughing.
"Why would I jump out of a cake as a bunny?"
"You know what," Dean pecks my lips," I will show you, and maybe you will do that for me, but now, you need a date of birth."
"I have no idea. Is it important?"
"Not really." Dean answers.
"It is," Jody says," if I could choose, I would always choose summer. My birthday is in summer and it's wonderful. Good weather most of the time, and you can celebrate outside."
"Yeah, that sounds nice, but maybe I prefer spring. When the trees get green again, the flowers and animals come back to life. I think I would like that." I reply, smiling.
"Yep, that's what I expected. What about the first day of spring? March the 20th?" Dean looks at me and I like the idea, so I nod and say:" Yes, that sounds wonderful."
"And which year?" Sam asks.
"Let's say 1980? You don't look like 40, but that makes you one year younger than me?" Dean asks and I agree.
"Then it's settled, Mrs. Evangeline Mills, born on March the 20th in 1980."
Sam and Dean take me to a photographer and together with Jody, we visit the leading agency to apply for new IDs. Since I have never done anything like that before, it's exciting. I maybe thought it would take longer, but all the woman asks is how I managed to look that young at 40.
"Good genes, I'm already 70." Jody jokes and in no time, we are out of the office again.
"So, now you just need to wait to get your licenses and you and Dean can marry."
"How long does it take?"
"A few weeks maybe, it won't be that long."
"Ok."
"Are you excited?"
"That's an understatement," I answer, laughing," everything is new to me. And I mean everything, I sometimes think I'm like a kid who needs an explanation for everything."
"No worries, life isn't hard. You will learn quickly. Even motherhood is not rocket science, it's natural for a woman."
"Yes, but a few days ago, I was still an angel, never meant to be having kids."
"Then be happy you are allowed to be. There is not much better."
"Does it hurt? To give birth?" I ask her.
"Yes, it does, but I promise, it's forgotten the second you hold your baby.
I nod, letting the thought of a baby in my arms sink. I caress my belly, even though it's still flat.
"It takes a while before you can see it. My belly started growing after the third month. How far along are you now?"
"On Dean's birthday, it's four weeks."
Jody's eyes widen when she hears that:" Four weeks? How do you know? Usually, women don't even notice until eight weeks or something."
"I knew it from the start while receiving."
Jody still eyes me, stunned by what I say.
"I guess I knew because I was an angel back then."
"Does Dean know that you were already pregnant when you sacrificed yourself?"
I shake my head:" No, he didn't do the math, he was too excited. But please don't tell him. He would have never let me go when he would have known, and now I think he would get angry. I will tell him when the baby is born." I look at her and feel tears in my eyes.
"Honey, I won't tell him, that's not on me, but he should know."
"What should I know?" Dean and Sam are coming out of the building and fast, I wipe the tears away.
"Her morning sickness gets a little worse," Jody answers fast," she didn't want to worry you, but I think you should know."
Dean sighs, laying his palms on my cheeks:" Sunshine, just tell me stuff like that. I want to know, ok?"
"Yes, ok." I look up at him and he kisses me quickly.
Later that day, Sam and Dean start to make plans for Bobby's property.
"Are you two sure you want your houses directly next to each other?" Jody asks, looking at the handmade sketches on the table.
"You know, Jody, we were rarely separated in our lives," Sam answers," and I wouldn't want to miss a minute when my niece or nephew is born."
"But it's a good thing I can throw him out if I need to," Dean adds, but he is smiling.
On the sketches are two houses, both almost equal in size. Dean taps the paper:" You think there is enough space for a workshop?"
Sam looks over and says:" I think so. Why? What do you have in mind?"
"Well, we need to earn money now, right? Maybe I can follow in Bobby's footsteps? I mean, I do know everything about cars, I can repair them all, and I can still work with my hands."
Sam smiles:" I think Bobby would love that."
"It's ok for you? To have this on the property?"
"Most definitely."
I listen to their dialogue and ask:" Will there be enough space for a garden?"
"Of course, Eve, you can have a garden as big as you want," Sam replies," You two can now figure out how you want your house to be. I will do that with Eileen now too."
He leaves the kitchen and Jody wants to follow, but I stop her:" Jody, would you help me? I mean, Dean will most certainly want something like a men's cave with a bar and stuff like that."
Jody starts laughing while Dean looks at me like the innocence himself.
"Yeah, he would," Jody is still laughing," ok, let's see."
Together we scribble down something like a layout for the house. Dean insists on a fireplace in the living room and the bedroom. The rest is pretty standard, kitchen, bathrooms and kids rooms. I want a porch in front of the house. I saw it earlier in some magazines and I like them.
After we finish the plans, Jody l leaves for work.
"What do you want to do on your birthday?" I ask Dean, who is making some coffee.
"No idea." He shrugs his shoulders.
"What have you done before?"
"Not much. I often even forgot when we were on a hunt." Dean settles down two cups.
I take a sip:" Ok, maybe I have an idea."
"No, Eve, I really don't need anything. I already have...."
But I stop him:" No, you don't! You lost so many birthdays in your life. And now everything has changed. Really everything. And more is to come with a baby. I know what I can do."
I get up from my chair, adding:" I need to buy some stuff."
Dean sighs:" I guess I can not stop you?"
"No chance." I giggle and kiss him.
The following evening, I throw Sam and Dean out of Jody's house with her allowance. Dean is somehow annoyed, but I don't care. I told Sam to be out as long as they can and he said that wouldn't be a problem, he will treat Dean with a good old whiskey.
Then, Eileen, Claire, Jody, Alex, and I start to prepare everything. I'm more than happy that they help me because otherwise, I couldn't manage the work.
