3rd Person POV
Beacon
"Come on Ruby, really?" Phoenix complained, rubbing his ear. "What have I told you about that whistle?"
"And what did I say about how I get to blow it as many times as I want?" Ruby replied cheerfully.
"Fair enough," Phoenix conceded, wincing, and rubbing his ear. "Could have been a bit quieter though."
"I doubt that's even a word in Ruby's vocabulary," Weiss scoffed.
"It's not," Blake deadpanned, flipping another page in her book while Yang finished putting on her gauntlets.
"So, Weiss," Yang said mischievously, an evil gleam in her eye. "How was your date with Phoenix?"
"It was... decent," Weiss replied, blushing.
"That blush of yours says otherwise," Phoenix teased and gestured to her necklace. "And besides, you're still wearing what I won you at the shooting range."
"Oh, can I see? Can I see?" Ruby asked, rushing over excitedly.
"Fine," Weiss grumbled and held out the necklace, showing it to them.
"Oooohhh pretty," Ruby said.
"You got that at a shooting range?" Yang asked in surprise.
"Yeah," Phoenix said. "Pulled off a pretty great shot, too, but then again, that's no surprise with me."
"It was... a decent shot," Weiss conceded.
"Decent?" Phoenix exclaimed, outraged.
"Where'd you go next?" Yang asked eagerly.
Luckily, before Phoenix or Weiss could answer, the intercom went off. "Would teams RWBY, JNPR, and CMEN please report to the auditorium?" Glynda's voice called. "Again, would teams RWBY, JNPR, and CMEN please report to the auditorium?"
"For once, I'm glad to have her interrupt us," Phoenix commented.
Yang pointed at him. "We're not done with this conversation."
"Dang it."
Auditorium
"So, what's the problem, teach?" Phoenix asked as he, the rest of his team, Team JNPR, Team CNEM (Cinder, Mercury, Emerald, and their newest member, a girl called Nyx) entered the room. "Misplace your broom?"
"Very funny, Mr. Blaze," Goodwitch said, unamused, while Mercury fought back a snicker. Nyx shook her head as Phoenix tilted his head at her.
Catching his eye, she winked, and her green eyes briefly flickered pink and brown, prompting Phoenix's eyes to narrow.
"—will need to be properly assessed before you are sent out on your missions after the dance," Goodwitch was saying as Phoenix turned his attention back to her. "As such, we will be sending all three teams on a reconnaissance mission to assist a nearby village. Three hours ago, a medium-sized horde of Grimm was spotted. You are to defend the village and eliminate the Grimm. Understood?"
"Copy that," Phoenix said and nudged Weiss. "Let's go bring the heat. Just try not to get melted out there."
"Very funny," Weiss grumbled.
