"You girls are coming over to mine to get ready." Kelsy tells us as her, Roxy, and myself are walking out of the building.
"Sounds good." Roxy says and I just nod my head in agreement. We always go to Kelsy's house when we all get ready together. Neither of us like being at our houses more than we have to. Especially when it involves being friends over.
Kelsy is probably the only one of us with a normal home life. Both of her parents are still together and they get along, all of her siblings still live at home and she is lucky enough to live on the better side of town.
We always give her shit, saying that the only reason she started hanging out with us when she moved here a few years ago, was to rebel against her parents.
Which we all know isn't true. Roxy didn't really give her a chance to make any other friends.
Roxy and I ride together in my car and follow Kelsy to her house with the music cranked. The drive to her house isn't long, and soon we are pulling into the driveway.
We get out and make our way inside the typical two story suburban home. As soon as I step through the door, all I can smell is fresh bread.
It smells so good. We follow the smell to the kitchen where Kelsy's mom, Emily Holmes, is pulling out muffins.
"Hello, girls!" Mrs. Holmes greets warmly. "Help yourselves to some banana bread muffins." She points to the cooling rack that already has a few waiting for us.
We each grab one and thank her before making our way up to Kelsy's room.
Taking a bite of the muffin, I moan at how delicious it is. "Oh my God! These are orgasmic!" I exclaim, taking another bite.
"Every bite just melts in your mouth!" Roxy says, as she nods her head in agreement.
"You guys are so weird." Kelsy comments.
"Yeah, but you love us anyway." I retort, sticking my tongue out at her. "So what are you guys going to wear?"
"I haven't the slightest idea. I don't even know what I have here." Roxy says. The two of us have a mixture of clothes that we've accumulated in Kelsy's closet over the years.
We are all pretty much the same size, so we always mixed and match with each other's clothing anyway.
After we all look through the clothes I throw myself on the bed with my arms above my head.
"That's it. I'm not going!" I say with my eyes closed. The girls just laugh at me.
"You're so dramatic, Deidre." Kelsy laughs.
"There's gotta be something we can get you to wear." Roxy mumbles as she looks through the clothes again.
She is digging around for awhile before we hear any noise come from her. "Ah ha! You are going to love me!" She exclaims.
She comes out of the closet holding up a tight black dress.
"Rox, that is way too dressy for a party!"
"Wait a minute," Kelsy cuts in. "This could work." She holds up a finger before disappearing into her closet next.
She comes walking out with a pair of black vans and a cropped leather jacket.
"It would be perfect, just have to dress it down a little bit. And this way you have a jacket since it's colder out."
I think for a minute. "You know I hate dresses. Plus I'm going to freeze with as short as that damn thing is." I complain looking between the two.
