One Year Later
I'm sitting at work and talking with Alex as I am finishing setting up her station for her next client. When the door to the shop chimes we both look up. I was not expecting who walked through the door. Blonde hair blew everywhere from the breeze coming in the door behind her and once it settled I squealed, running to give her a hug.
"What are you doing here?!" I ask. I didn't think I was supposed to be expecting a visit.
"I have a long weekend and decided why not come and spend the weekend with my best friend!"
"Well I'm happy you thought of me! I don't know how late I'm going to be here tonight though."
"Don't you worry about it. I just have this last client for the day and I think I can manage cleaning up after myself. You two go catch up." Alex butts in.
"Oh thank you Alex! I will put in extra hours next week, promise!"
"I know you will anyway. Have a good weekend ladies." Kelsy and I say our goodbyes and walk out the door.
"Wanna go get coffee before heading back to my place?" I ask her.
"Of course!" So we make our way to the coffee shop around the corner.
It's not busy and we have no problem getting our drinks and finding a table quickly.
"So how's everything? How's William?"
"School has been crazy. Thank god it's summer and I'm able to just focus on work. Will is doing great, he's loving his new job."
"How are the two of you doing?"
"Amazing. I feel like after three years we still haven't moved out of the honeymoon stage. I can't help but wonder sometimes though if he sees us actually going anywhere. I mean I graduate next year and I don't know. I guess a females brain always expects things to move quicker in relationships, but I kind of expected a proposal sooner than this. We've talked about getting married many times and then just nothing. God, I'm rambling."
"No you're fine! And I'm sure he's going to at some point. Just don't read into it. He's smitten with you. The last time he was visiting Dean I saw him and ninety percent of our conversations were about you. You guys love each other and that is all you need to focus on. Things will happen when they are supposed to."
"I know. Thank you. I just get into my own head sometimes when I don't have classes and studying taking up all the space in here." She says pointing to her head. "How have you been?"
"I've been doing great. I'm still learning so much at the shop. Alex brought me with to this convention out of state a few years ago and it was so eye opening. I don't think I will ever learn every thing there is to learn about the tattooing world. It's limitless."
"I'm so happy for you. How's Roxy doing? I haven't talked to her in awhile." My smile fades slightly.
"Honestly it's probably been about six months since I've heard from her. When she first moved in with Connor we would go out or she would come over to my place here and there and it slowly got less and less. She stopped responding to my calls and messages. I still try every once in awhile to see if maybe she'll reply but so far I haven't gotten any sort of reply back."
