One Year Later
My first year in Haven has been a whirlwind. There is so much going on in the city all of the time. Working and learning from Alex has been amazing, and a few of the other artists have been sharing their expertise with me as well.
Right now I'm driving through downtown. I find the building I'm looking for and find a spot to park. I make my way inside and am able to sneak inside as someone is leaving. The elevator feels like it's taking forever, but finally it dings and I exit.
Once I find the apartment number I'm looking for, I bang on the door and cover the peephole with my hand. The door slowly opens and I stand there smiling.
"Hey! What are you doing here?!" Dean smiles back at me.
"The shop isn't that far from here and I got off early. So I figured a surprise was in order!"
"Well then you want to go get coffee somewhere?" He asks.
"Yeah, actually I think there's a place right around the corner."
"Perfect, let's go." And with that we walk down and around the corner to a small coffee shop.
There's a few people scattered about but we're able to find a table easily.
"So, how was the move?" I ask Dean.
"Really wasn't that bad. I had a lot more shit than I thought I did, but at least I got to get rid of a lot of it so I could start mostly fresh."
"Right, that was probably one of my favorite things. Just starting out with a clean slate. You'll have to show me your apartment, you've already seen how full mine is now."
"I'll definitely have you over. But maybe another day, the apartments a little full today." He looks down at his cup.
"Why are you suddenly being weird. You only do that when you talk about..." He nods. "Oh gotcha, you know I won't have a breakdown if you say his name, it has been a year."
After I left Rosewood, Dean and I stayed in contact. Dillon was a topic we just tried to steer clear of. Dean didn't bring him up because he knew how hard it was on me to leave him and I appreciated it.
I still think about Dillon, but not as often as I used to. I started going on a few dates but none of them ever panned out to anything.
"Alright, when's your next day off?" Dean asks, changing the subject.
"Umm, I don't think I have anything going on on Friday. Why?"
"We are going out, I need to scope out the club scene and I need my best wing woman out with me." He rubs his hands together with a smile.
Ever since the last time Dean came to visit and I hooked him up with a girl that had come into the shop a few days before, I have been labeled 'best wing woman'.
"I don't know who to set you up with this time but I'll wing it." I agree with a smile and nod.
"Alright, deal! So how have you and Roxy been?"
"I feel like my apprenticeship is going really well and I finally get to start being paid for it, so I've been debating to quit at the bar. Roxy got promoted to bottle girl at the club she works at, so she's pretty excited about that. We're doing alright. What about you? When do you start the new job?"
