Two Years Later
I finish up with my last client of the day. I finished my apprenticeship under Alex a year ago and once I got licensed, I was lucky enough to be offered a job at Tattoo Temple. For the past year it has been amazing getting to finally tattoo on actual clients.
I say goodbye to everyone in the shop and make my way down the street to the closest coffee shop.
There's no line when I walk in so I go straight to the counter and order a large cappuccino. I sit down at a small table by the window and pull my phone out.
"Hey, pretty lady." I jump and turn to smile at the owner of the voice.
"Take you long enough."
"I like to be fashionably late."
"That implies that you're looks will make up for your tardiness." I say laughing.
"Ouch! You break my heart, Dee."
"I'm sure I do, now hurry up and order, Dean." He walks off to the counter.
Dean is finally making his way back after flirting with the barista when my phone starts ringing.
I pick it up without looking at the caller ID.
"Deidre!" Kelsy shouts through the phone.
"Kelsy!" I say back with just as much enthusiasm just not quit as loud.
"You'll never believe what just happened! Oh my god! William just proposed!"
"I'm assuming by the excitement in your voice you said yes?" I laugh.
"Of course!"
"About damn time! I've only been waiting for almost six years!"
"You and Roxy did call it! I just can't believe it! Oh my god, you should see the ring!"
"Oh I know, but you can still send me a picture. I want to see how amazing it looks on you."
"Wait a minute. You knew about this?"
"Well yeah! Did you really think Will was going to actually buy a ring without getting your best friends approval first?" We both laugh at that.
"That's very true. So I have a serious question for you."
"Shoot."
"Will you be my maid of honor?"
"Uh, hell yes!"
"Ahh thank you! I love you, I'm so excited! I have to try and get a hold of Roxy! I will call you later!"
"Love you too Kels. Talk you later." With that we both hang up and I turn my attention back to Dean with a big smile on my face.
"What was that about?" He asks.
"Our little William finally proposed to Kelsy!"
"About damn time. I don't know what took him so long."
"Me neither. I still remember him telling me he was going to marry her way back when."
"Yeah, well good for them."
"Yeah, so when's your date with the barista?"
"To be determined." He gives me a cocky grin, waving his receipt with her number on it. I shake my head and laugh at him.
