One Year Later

I feel the wonderful feeling of a buzz coming on and I finally allow Roxy to drag me out onto the dance floor. We're currently at a club, Roxy wanted me to finally meet her new boyfriend, Connor.

Currently I didn't know what to think of him. He seems kind of like one of those snooty rich guys that knew how much money they had and liked to flaunt it. But, if he made Roxy happy I would support her like the amazing best friend I was.

I had convinced Dean to tag along, and I'm glad I did so I am able to have one on one time with Roxy for a little bit tonight. I've hardly been seeing her the past few months. Which I get, she's still in the honeymoon stage and spends all her time with Connor, but I still miss her.

After about a half hour of dancing, I motion to Roxy that I have to go to the bathroom. She nods in agreement and we start making our way there. As soon as the door shuts behind us the crazy loud music is instantly muffled and I can hear myself think.

"I love this place!" Roxy exclaims. "I'm so happy you came out with me, I feel like we haven't gone out together in ages!"

"Me too." We each go into a stall to do our business.

"So, what do you think of Connor?" Roxy asks from the stall next to me. Shit, I knew she was going to want my view at some point tonight.

"If you like him, I like him." I tell her, honestly. Roxy was my best friend, I wasn't going tell her I really wasn't a big fan of him from the start.

"You know, I know what that means Deidre." We come out of the stalls and she looks at me.

"Honestly he's totally not who I imagined you being with, and I'm sure once I get to know him better I'll like him. I just want you to be happy."

"Well, I suppose I will accept that for now. Besides, you'll be able to get to know him better every time you come see me." She turns away from me as I'm stuck feeling confused.

"What does that mean?" I ask.

"He's asked me to move in with him, and I've accepted!" She turns to me with excitement.

"But Rox, it hasn't been that long. Are you sure about this?" Her face drops slightly.

"It's been six months, Deidre. I know it's not that long, but it feels right. Plus, I love him." I feel like if my eyes were able to come out of their sockets, they would be right now. I didn't know what to say, I was in complete shock. "Besides, if it does end up crashing and burning, I know I'll have you to help me put the pieces back together."

"Always, Rox." And with that we made our way up to the VIP loft to find the men.

Dean saw us first and waved us over.

"Hey, ladies!" He greets. "Do we need drinks?"

"That would be great!" Roxy replies and I nod in agreement.

"Deidre, will you help me carry them?" He asks.

"Oh, they will bring us our drinks." Connor tells him.

"I know but I need to stretch my legs a little anyway." Dean replies. "Dee, want to help me carry them?"

I shrug and follow him over to the VIP bar that is upstairs overlooking the club beneath.

"I can't believe you brought me out to basically attempt to entertain the most pompous guy ever."

"Well, I wasn't going to do it on my own. Plus, what are the bestest of friends for?" I reply with a sweet smile.

"If I didn't love you, I would leave your ass right now. I don't like him at all."

"We're going to have to learn how to fake it, because Roxy is serious about him."

"How serious we talking here? Because I am sure we could probably convince her to move on."

"She won't move on because she's moving in." Dean just about spit the sip of his drink out.

"Roxy is moving in with a guy? And him out of all of them?"

"Apparently so." We turn and start walking back to our table.

"This is worse than I thought." Dean says, and I just nod my head and plaster a smile on my face as we reach Connor and Roxy.

---

The next morning, I wake up to the sound of noise in the apartment. I slowly drag myself out of bed, knowing if I move too fast I'm probably going to throw up, and make my way to the bathroom.

When I walk out of my room, all I see are boxes and men moving them around and putting things inside. I look around for Roxy and find her in her room, ordering a couple of the men around.

"Rox, what's going on?" I ask.

"About time you're awake. I thought you were going to sleep all day."

"Not that hungover, but what are all of these guys doing?"

"Well I told you I was moving in with Connor."

"I didn't think that meant today."

"Well as soon as I told him that I had told you about the news he didn't want to wait. So he hired movers and by tonight, I will officially have a new address."

As the front door bangs shut I get a pain in my head.

"I need coffee, and I should probably check on Dean. I'll be back in a little while."

Roxy comes up and gives me a hug.

"I love you Dee. Thank you for supporting me with this." I hug her back.

"I'm sad you're leaving me, but I love you too, Rox."

When she releases me, I make my way back to my room and get changed before heading down to my car.

I drive to the coffee shop around the corner of Dean's apartment and order two coffees before backtracking to Dean's.

Knowing he didn't bring a girl home with him last night I use the keys I have and go right up to his apartment. Without knocking, I walk right in.

"Oh Dean!" I hear a grunt from the bedroom and decide to go to the kitchen to wait for him. "I come bearing coffee!"

I hear a light thud and soon Dean comes out of the room in shorts and his hair a mess. His eyes are barely open as he comes over and grabs the coffee cup I'm holding out for him.

"You're lucky you brought caffeine." He turns and goes and slumps into the couch, pulling the blanket over him.

"I would never dream of waking you up without breakfast." I walk over and sit down in the large chair across from the couch.

"Why are you here so early?" Dean asks, starting to slowly wake up with every sip he takes.

"It's noon." I tell him, and he just shrugs. "I woke up to movers in my apartment. Apparently, Roxy is moving out today. I didn't want to be there."

"Geez, really moving fast with this one." He says, and I nod in agreement.

Shortly after Roxy and Jackson broke up last year, she started throwing herself into relationship after relationship for months. Always claiming that they were the one, and that she was in love with them. Dean and I would just sit back and wait a couple weeks and be the ones picking her up off of the bathroom floor.

And then one night she had come home saying she had met this incredible guy while she was at work and that they had made plans for the following week. Ever since then, I hardly saw her, and until last night hadn't even met the guy consuming all of my best friend's time.

Dean and I spend the rest of the day watching movies and nursing our hangovers.
