Somehow, his question made me stand stunned on the ground; I also do not know why I feel worried about this man, why did I run after him when it would have been better if I left him alone; that way, I can say that I severed my ties with him.
However, my feet led me to him, searching for him until I could feel that my feet were falling off. I do not even know it was because I was worried or an even deeper feelings that led me to him again?
I ran all across spaces until I got blisters; I even got the hem of my gown dirty. "I do not like that Lady, and neither does she like me too. Even so, seeing that you work together it would be fine for me to at least try to get along with her for your sake," He slowly guided me to sit down, "Here, let me help you," The man gently removed my heel, showing a wound at the back of my feet.
"As much as I do not like that Lady is worst than seeing you get hurt like this. Take care of yourself and be safe; that is enough for me," He examined my foot as his forehead creased, "Do you not think of yourself when you ran all the way to find me. Were you that worried?" I could not answer him. Instead, I averted my gaze.'
Standing up, the man glanced all over me, checking if I was injured in other parts; he then sighed as he held my shoulder, making me face the man. "Why?" I raised, looking at him, "Is something wrong?"
He once again took a deep breath, "I don't like how you're wearing a thin gown," I shook my head, "No, this is thick enough, she asked me to hang out with her since there would be a huge conference that will involve the Heads of the Bureau, and she, an administrator is not part of it. She planned to take me with her to help with the fieldwork."
He rolled his eyes, "And so? You should've wore a thicker gown," I lowered my eyes, and with that instance, the Noble must have noticed that something was not right. "Perhaps you-" He covered his mouth in shock.
"You ran away!" He exclaimed; I immediately stood up and covered his mouth, "I had a situation, and you know that it concern work. Even if it was work, I know that Father, Mother nor Brother won't let me go near the Lady, given that she is from the House of Varilas,"
"Still, I had no choice, I can't send a letter back, and I do not want to make her wait. I am not a cruel nor a heartless person, that's why I escaped, I told the guards that I will come back soon," I assured Alexios, "You really are hopeless..."
He then extended his arm and helped me up, "Can't you stand?" I leaned into his, "My feet still hurts and the gown is ruined,"
Alexios sighed frustratedly and gave me a distressed look, "I'll call over the carriage here," After a few minutes, with a whistle, a carriage soon came into view, with the coachmen panting like death was chasing them. "Yes, Noble Schleswig?" They bowed down as they went down the carriage in haste.
"I'll buy you a comfortable pair of shoes and a thick dress that will help with the cold," He said to me, "You, buy everything that will suit the Lady, don't leave a thing out," Before one of the guards could leave, I called him out.
"Wait," They all looked in my direction, "I would love prefer that you, Alexios, go to the store. I won't move an inch here since my feet hurts. Your guards will definetly be at my guard if something happens, don't worry," The man looked unconvinced, but when I looked at him with pleading eyes, he gave into resistance.
"All right," With that, the man faced his men, "All of you!" He raised his tone, making all of them flinch.
"If I see a scratch on her, even in the tinest bit-" He gestured his thumb, sliding it on his neck, "I will, personally, cut all of your throats," As he emphasised the word 'personally' all of them gulped.
"I'll be back in a moment," He slowly leaned closer, kissing my temple, "Take care,"
In that instant, the Noble made his way onwards to his destination, with Alexios long gone, I looked at them, immediately, averting their gazes off me, "Don't worry, I won't bite," I chuckled, all of them breathed out as if the air earlier was suffocating them, "Be at ease around me, or else, I will also feel uncomfortable."
They scoffed and turned around, observing the surroundings, checking if there were possible threats. Soon after, Alexios came back with bags and boxes in his hands, with some men assisting him. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at them, slowly standing up.
The Noble laid the things he bought in front of me, "Why are there so many bags and boxes?" There appeared an innocent smile on his face as his sweat glistened, rolling down on the side of his face, "All of the items in the store suited you, so I bought everything that my eyes laid upon," My eyes widened in shock.
This Man! Really! How come he does not have a sense of tact? We all know that he is wealthy enough to spend tons of money on a particular object that his eyes feasted upon; however, this was too much.
I stood up and held his hand, "Alexios! You didn't have to buy everything in the store!" I screamed at him, enough to make his ears bleed; he then composed himself and looked at me, "Are you saying that you don't like what I've bought?" He asked with eyes of the question; his innocent face is his trademark.
