"Greetings! I came here to see Noble Schleswig," I told the front desk, looking at the time; it was already past our meeting appointment. Is he still waiting for me up until now? "You're-" I subtly curtsied.
"Lady Eva Maria Del Mar Rabellino," They then looked at each other and back to the paper, "Oh, right this way, Lady Rabellino," They had awkward looks on their faces as they led me to a private area.
I hope he does not overthink things; if it were not for that Lord Demeas and that Lady Tocceli, I would be at his office by midday, and it was almost lunchtime. As the door opened, I could feel that the room had an uneasy atmosphere.
"Alex!" I raised, with that, his face turned bright, immediately smiling, "Forgive me if I was late, you must've waited for too long," I bitterly uttered.
The man reached out for a tight hug, as he wholely captivated me in his arms, "I thought something had happened to you," I could hear the worry in his voice, "I arrived early and finished my work early so I could show you around here, however, when I continuously looked at the clock and saw it pass by, I assumed that you weren't coming anymore," He then released me.
I could see the desperation he had in his eyes; looking at the back; I could see a neatly arranged stockpile of papers that had stamps and signatures on the corner. "Thank you for waiting," He caressed my face, "Everything that I do for you is worthwhile, knowing that you rushed here just to see me shows your effort for me, I love that,"
Suddenly, I heard murmurs around the room only to see that there were people around us. I forgot that there were people inside the room because I was too focused on the man. They looked at us in utter shock.
However, what they observed the most as I heard from them was how Alexios was smiling. He was never the type to show his feelings and emotions to others. I could even hear them questioning who I was.
I turned around and faced the people inside the room, "Greetings, I am Eva Maria Del Mar Rabellino," Shock appeared on their faces, others with jaw dropped, "Rabellino? That House is-" He soon shut his mouth and kept the thought to himself.
Directing my attention back to the Noble Schleswig, I could feel his glare towards them, "You must be exhausted, Noble Schleswig, Lady Rabellino," One mumbled, "We will leave you and the Noble alone then, please do not mind us and enjoy the rest of the time with Noble," Soon fleeing from the scene, the only person's that was left in the room was Alexios and me.
He cleared his throat, "You can seat at the couch, anywhere you like, even at my lap," I playfully slapped his arm, "Stop joking, Alexios," I chuckled and saw at the couch.
"Have you eaten?" I asked him; he then shook his head in response, "Not yet, I still have a consulation for a certain someone," His expression darkened as he emphasized the words, certain someone.
"Oh, is that so? If you're still busy, I can wait for you outside." Attempting to leave, he immediately grabbed my arm before I could even escape; as we got nearer, his forehead then creased, "What's wrong with your face? You looked like you have seen a ghost." He stepped backwards and spun around me, looking if I was hurt or injured.
"Oh, I just met a bickering couple in the hallway that made me ran around the Courthouse," I laughed out the statement to ease the tension that I was feeling, "A couple?" He question.
"Yes, a couple- well, they were a couple. Moreover, let's not talk about it," I smiled at him, attempting to change the topic, "If that is what you want," He chuckled.
"Here," He gave me his jacket, draping it on my shoulder, "It's cold outside, if I have known, I shouldn't have let you come here, you look tired from all the running," He caressed my face as my palm held his hands.
"I'm fine now, you're here with me, Alexios," He went mute for a second, "Yes, you're right, I'm here," The man wrapped himself around me.
Just as his face leaned, we heard knocks from the door, interrupting us from what we were about to do, "Noble Schleswig!" We heard his name called from the door, "Don't mind them," He muttered as he continued to lean close, initiating a kiss.
Our lips were about to touch when a loud bang resonated from the other side, "It must be urgent, tend to your duties first. I'll wait here," I warmly said to him; he composed himself and took a deep breath. I could feel a menacing aura oozing out from him; whoever is out that door, I hope you are still alive after you meet Alexios eye to eye, "Noble Schleswig!" Another call came,
"Wait for me here. I'll be back soon," I stood up and gave him a peck on his lips, "I understand, I'll wait here for you, patiently." He nodded and opened the door, only to see a glimpse of people swarming from the outside.
I hope nothing is wrong; however, based on the caller's voice, he seemed desperate as if something big had happened. I do not want to let Alexios get hurt. I know how capable he is since he trained his skills ever since he was a child.
Even so, as someone who is starting to know more about him, I cannot help but be anxious whether something wrong might happen or not. I pray to the heavens that they will keep Alexios safe no matter what. He may be a harsh gentleman sometimes- well, maybe all the time to others.
I know that he has this side that genuinely cares and protects others deep down in his heart. As a Noble, he is responsible for protecting the lands, looking after their community, the weak, the old, and the young, and serving as leaders and role models for the officers.
