The morning after that incident, the atmosphere inside the estate felt gloomy, as if it was abandoned with empty feelings left behind by the past owners. Everything soon came rushing to me when I gazed at the empty halls.

"Eva!" Brother's voice echoed across the hallways, "Have you prepared yourself?" I lowered my head and nodded.

After arriving yesterday at late night, a spectacle revealed as Father and Mother fought because of the Noble's irresponsibility, as the Lady stated. The man even got a slap from his wife as they continued bickering.

In the end, as they saw us, realizing that I was back safe and sound, Mother hugged me and took me away, with Brother following us around only to announce that I would work at the Bureau of Public Works that led me into shock.

"What's the matter, Eva?" He questioned, lifting my chin, "Those people would be nice to me, right?" I averted his gaze, following a question.

"Yes, they would be if you behave yourself. We should arrive at the Bereau before the stated sign. I can feel others talking already about your sudden turning," We soon walked down the stairs onwards to the front where a carriage stood and entered, departing to the said place. "I understand,"

It has been so frustrating after I got entangled with Alexios. Brother advised me that after several days, he would cool down and forget about everything. I know that he is only saying that to make me feel relieved.

However, this encounter with Alexios is not just something bearable for anyone who saw us that night. To say it truthfully, those gossip columns would be glad to hear about the rumors and would spread it around.

Of course, there are plenty of tasks to do at the said Bureau, and for Brother to tell me this personally, it sounded more like an order coming from the future Head of the Household. His words became a warning for me.

As if he was telling me himself that I should compose myself and act like I am from the House of Rabellino. I will prove myself to him, also Father and Mother. I can also, in my own way, be of use to the House they adore so much,

"Any words you want to say?" I voiced out, making Neizan look away from the window and directly at me, "Yes, words..." He took a deep breath.

"Care to tell me what is it, Older Brother?" He shook his head, "I do not want to spoil your first day, you'll find out soon when you get there,"

Whatever he says will not make a difference; we are almost there, and I do not have the strength to back out and flee. Thinking positively, this will be beneficial to me as well. I can assist with infrastructure projects.

They are financed and built by the ruler of the lands for recreational, employment, and health and safety purposes in the larger community. This is also when they expand infrastructure projects if I consider the time of year.

Given that it is a multi-dimensional notion in economics and politics that touches on various fields, the Bureau of Public Works must be short on Nobles to work. I would be a great helping hand to them when I studied more in the field.

It must also be the reason why Brother took me to them. Since I am new to the actual job, perhaps I will have a mentor to guide me after I finish my liabilities with them. I hope it will be someone nice.

"You may have already known this, however, you will be assigned to someone in a month, and after that, you'll be transferred to another field," Brother spoke, "Namely, recreation, aesthetics, economy, law, and neighborhood. It all depends on you, Eva."

Soon arriving, we were led into a hall where several Nobles and Ladies whom I was not familiar with were at the scene together with people who were in uniform. They must be the administrators in the Bureau, given their intimidating aura.

I cleared my throat and gave them an earnest expression as it was my turn to introduce myself. "Pleased to make everyone's acquaintance, I am Eva Maria Rabellino," I stated, "I look forward to working with you, please take care of me,"

The senior Ladies had welcoming smiles and soon came to greet us individually. However, what caught my attention was a Lady who looked unsociable and snobbish; as our eyes met, I initiated and went to her. I must make a good impression.

"Hello..?" It was all I could say to her, "What? You'll really work here?" I nodded in agreement.

"Yes, I studied about public works back in the university, my Brother decided for me, even so, I think that this profession is suited for me," I responded, "It's great knowing that you have a brave personality. Tell me, what's your name again?" She stood up from the stool.

"Eva Maria Rabellino," I replied, "Rabellino- huh? Well, the name's Ninia. Lady Ninia Vasila,"

As she stood up, based on her appearance, even with her cold front, I could tell how much this career honed her. Nothing really beats experience. "I was supposed to be with the Bureau of Military Affairs, however, I quitted my post. I can tell from your face about how curious you are," She smiled, poking my forehead, "I decided, you can be my mentee. I plan to get involved with you anway,"

Her last sentence sent shivers down my spine for some reason. Since I got involved with her, I could not determine if it was a warning or a threat that sounded worrisome. Now that she has announced herself to be my mentor, I will be with her at all times.

Not knowing where the real problem lies, I should first focus on what I should do without making trouble for other people. I do not want to be a burden and stand by even if someone needs my help the most.
