The morning after, a distressed Alexios grumpily woke up, as he saw the Lady's face, all the unpleasant emotions he felt washed away in an instant, kissing her bye, the Noble fixed himself, walking out the front where he had received a letter.
Immediately, they headed to the place the letter had stated, there stood a bench, with a man sitting at it, "There you are, Lord Demeas," Alexios greeted, slightly bowing his head, "Nikolas," He returned, returning the Noble's glare.
"What's with the look on your face? It tells me like you are about to kill someone off the hook," He scoffed, "Lord Demeas, I know that my betrothed must've offended you in some kind of way, but, what you did to her, especially at our engagement ceremony, is not fine."
"You crossed the line harrasing my fiancee," Alexios took a deep breath and composed himself, "You may be a Lord and I might look like a poor Noble in front of you, however, please do not treat me lightly from all the Noble you've met before."
"If possible, don't go near Eva, and do not mess with her. That is all I ask Lord Demeas," The Lord then laughed out, standing. "You're pretty obsessive for someone who will marry against the decision of their council."
Alexios chuckled, "Lord Demeas, that's too harsh for someone who's also obsessing with another." He responded, "We both know how each Houses deal with problems and how we run things, to think that I would come across you, Nikolaos,"
"Anyway, since you are here, let's begin the talking," Before they could walk off, Noble Schleswig brushed off the Lord's hands and directly said to him, "Lord Demeas, to what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Why, can't I call you out? In the matter of fact, you should be honored for me to heed you audience." He then raised his eyebrows, "Oh, I know, is it because of her again? It must be that Lady, Eva Maria Rabellino,"
With Eva's name coming out from his filthy mouth, something inside of him burned because of anger, "From what I heard, you had no plans to marry and sire an heir, remember the vow you made to your Father? Seeing you act like this is despite the rumors is too unlike you," Alexios had his fists clenched as the highly Noble continued to mock him, "Do not dare look at me like that, Nikolaos. Similar to what I heard about you, you must've heard about how things are going with me."
Ioannis received a letter from his Father the day after he made a report; the Honorable Lord went out to Ylury to bring back his betrothed, Lady Vasilas, neglecting his duties and order about his Lordship.
Nothing was working out well as he could not do any of what his old man ordered; with the looming threat of someone replacing him as a Lord because of his younger brother, it was more needed of him to bring home Lady Vasilas and make her his wife as soon as possible.
As he can be replaced if he fails to prove himself, he can secure his status as long as he sires an heir. First, he needs to be with Ninia and build a family with her. The Lady was his last choice to secure a bright future.
"Both of you are messing everything that I've worked hard for. I didn't expect that you, a cousin of my soon wife and his betrothed would turn out this way," Alexios sighed and straightened his thoughts, "You seem upset, Lord Demeas."
"And you seem furious, Noble Schleswig," Without hesitating, the Noble replied, "I am furious,"
His response took the Honorable Lord aback; he did not expect that he would answer it without hesitation, making him laugh out loud, "I haven't done anything wrong to you, Schleswig. You shouldn't give me that answer. So there is no reason on why you should be furious," Alexios leaned closer, "You did me wrong, assaulting my lover is enough to be wrong!" The man raised his tone.
"I hope you didn't forget tha she's the one who dared to eavesdrop on a conversation, refused to follow my command and the assualt you're saying-" He massaged his temple, calming herself, "Eva Rabellino, she's not only a pretty face, you should hear her statement first. That Lady pinned me against the railing first, and if you didn't come for her, I would've already-"
Before he could continue his statement, Alexios grabbed his shoulder, gripping his hands tightly, "Have you forgetten what I told you earlier, My Lord?" He questioned, raising his head, with his eyes meeting, only for Ioannis to see a threatening expression on his face, "Forgot what?" Somehow, the man had the urge to tease the Noble, who shivered in his presence with the mention of his betrothed name.
"I can't allow you to easily use her as an excuse to control me, I consider you as an acquaintance because you are involved with Lady Vasilas, however, that is all to it. After all, not only do I hate you, the same goes for your fiancee also," He countered, "Please do not be surprised, you know how rotten to the core our faction became after Mother's passing. You should be aware since you are marrying none other than Lady Ninia Vasilas."
"How surprising for you to say that, Schleswig," The man laughed off, walking out as their shoulders bump, passing each other, "You really are a vile creature." Ionnanis uttered, clicking his tongue as he made his way out of his sight.
With the Honorable Lord long gone, Alexios' aid showed up, "Noble Schleswig," His head lowered, greeting the gentlemen, "Let us go back to the Lodge. Is the preparation finished for everything that I asked?" He asked the man.
"Yes, Noble Schleswig," He cleared his throat, loosening his tie, "Is that so? That's great to hear, now, let's go back home, to where Eva is."
