Ellie's POV

Stage two starts today and we were waiting in the waiting room. I am confused on what this facing your fears shit is all about. I probably already know one of them will be my abusive ex. Then, Two Dauntless lead Molly out of the room who looks basically traumatized.

"What did they do to her?" Christina whispered.

"Oh, it's really bad." Maci whimpered.

"Tris." Four calls her from the doorway as another two came out of the room next to the Tris went in, leading a boy I didn't know out who was in the same state as Molly.

"Ellie." I heard my name being called.

I sighed as I went in the room and see Eric there. I sat down in the chair. "I'm going to inject you with a serum that stimulates the part of your brain that processes fear. It'll induce a hallucination and then transmitters in the serum will allow me to see the images in your mind."

"Fuckin' fantastic." I cursed.

"Don't worry, you'll do fine." He took my hand and kiss my knuckles.

"Okay." That's not what I'm worried about.

"You'll be facing your worst fears, most people have ten to fifteen really bad ones."

"Nice." I say, sarcastically as he injects it into my neck.

Then, I found myself drifting off.

"Hey, babe." Hardin? What is he doing here?

"Ummm... relaxing." I told him.

"Well, I'm bored. Come and entertain me." He said as he sits on the couch.

"No. I have homework to do." I spoke up.

Then, he got up and starts punching me in the face. Then, he repeatedly kicked me in the stomach.

"You know, I'm sick and tired of your constant whining and bitching! I'm gonna win this bet!" He growled as he pulls me by the hair.

"It's not real. It's not real." I spoke as Hardin grabs a knife and rips off my clothes before grabbing a frying pan but I took it and start beating him with it until he is knocked out.

I sit up, gasping for breath but was pushed back down by Eric.

"Easy, Ellie. How long do you think you were in there?" He asked.

"Hell, I don't know, fifteen to twenty minutes." I guess.

"Three, that's faster than any average. That's the first I've seen anyone do that. I take it that fake wannabe bad boy with that shitty accent is your ex?" I take it he didn't see me fought him back.

"Yes. Now, you know why I nearly hated you when we first met." I confessed before walking off.

Maci's POV

I was in fear of being murdered as we were all discussing our fears during lunch. Still, I have no idea how I was about to fought back as Four said until two minutes. He told me to meet with him later on tonight as he want to show me his fears. Okay, I guess I have to trust him as I think I can tell he's Divergent. But was I? I know Jeanine said that we're Dauntless but.... was that all a lie? If so, what haven't she killed us yet?

THE NEXT NIGHT

I basically got out of a boat as it was sinking to the bottom of the ocean and ended up waking up the same way as yesterday. I quickly leave as Four tries to stop me. I ended up talking to Steph on the phone, explaining what's going on in secret. I couldn't sleep that night so I decided to go for a walk but only to be stop by Ellie.

"Are you going on a walk?" Ellie asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"I'm coming with you." Ellie got up and followed me.

We were walking to the Chasm to talk when suddenly, we were ambush by three figures wearing ski masks. We were struggling to fight as they brought us to the bridge. I begin fighting my attacker while pulling off the ski mask and I was upset at the familiar face.

"Al? Why?" I asked, upset and pissed.

"Maci watch out!" Ellie yells as she struggles with her attackers.

But I was pushed towards the metal grating, groaning as I fell to the ground. I felt my nose dripping blood as my hair was pulled back and got a kick in the face. I knew that the other two attackers were Drew and Peter. I try to get up and kick but Drew caught my foot as I swung to his side. His whole arm swung backward and hit my throat, making me gasp for air. He wasted no time, wrapping his hands around my throat and begin choking me. I fought back as the energy drained out of me as black spots danced around my vision as I let out a scream.

The last thing I heard was a female voice yelling, "Over here, Seth!" I knew it was Tris coming over with Seth and Seth beating the shit out of Drew.

Seth's POV

Fuck, fuck, fuck! I should've seen it coming as I was beating the shit out of Drew, forcing him to let go of Maci's throat. Tris drags Maci out the way before fighting Peter as he is attacking Ellie. Al was knocked out by Four. Where did he come from? I stop fighting Drew as I grabbed Ellie and took her aside as Tris came over to check up on them. They were bleeding heavily as they were knocked out cold. Then, Four and Eric appeared to check up on the twins. Again, where did Eric come from? As if he has a sixth sense when Ellie's in trouble.

"We need to get them out of here." Tris said as she tries to stop the blood coming from Maci's nose.

Four scoops up Maci as Eric takes Ellie. I held onto Tris as we followed them to Four's apartment. I sat down by the counter with Tris as we watched these two nurse the twins. I'm actually surprised that they didn't fight but that doesn't last long anyway.

"I'm taking Ellie." Eric said.

"No, you're not." Four argued.

"I can nurse after Ellie. You can take care of those three." He argues back.

"Hey!" Ellie yelled as she opened her eyes to glare at them. "Just when you two won't fight in front of us, here you are. Just stop, my head is spinning."

They both glared at each other. Okay then. "Four, I'll be fine with Eric. Just... let it go." Ellie sighed.

"Alright. I trust you." Four said as he pats her in the head.

She chuckled before looking at Eric and asked, "Carry me?"

Eric laughed before scooping her and leave. After they left, Tris broke the silence by saying, "I think he's in love with Ellie."

"Eric? In love? Yeah, right." Four chuckled, sarcastically.

"No... I thought he would be playing with Ellie's feelings, but now, I'm convince that he's deeply in love with her." I agreed with Tris' statement.

Four looked confused with that funny look which made me and Tris laughed. Then, I said, "I'll be back to check on Maci in the morning."

"Me too. I'm coming with you, Seth." Tris said as she got off the counter.

"Okay." Then, we walked out of the apartment and went back to the dorms and somehow, ended up sleeping in the same bed together.
