Maci's POV
"No!" Jeanine's voice echoed throughout the room as she stood by the doorway, "No, stop!"
"Stop right there, Jeanine!" Tori spoke as the other Dauntless came flooding into the room, including, Zeke, Uriah, and Lynn. At least they're safe.
"It's simple. You move, we shoot." Zeke says.
A relieved look spreads across Tobias' face as he gives them a grateful nod, which they returned. His face tired from all the fighting.
"Hello, my name is Amanda Ritter. I am the leader of an organization fighting for peace and justice. I come from outside the wall where we have destroyed each other. Therefore, this fight for peace and justice has become more important and consequently, nearly impossible in the past few decades. We designed your city as an experiment, we believed it was the only way to recover the humanity we had lost. We created factions to ensure peace but believed that there will be those among you who would transcend their factions, these would be the Divergents. You will not remember what has happened. But Divergents are the true purpose of this experiment, they are vital to humanity's survival." She explains.
Tobias' hands find their way around my waist and pulls me close to him as I held onto Olivia.
"The battle that we are fighting is not against a particular group, it's against human nature itself-or at least what it has become. This is why you are so important, our struggle against violence and cruelty is only treating the symptoms of a disease, not curing it. You are the cure. If you're watching this now, then at least one of you is proof that our experiment has succeeded. The time has come for you to emerge from your isolation and rejoin us, your leaders should give the command for Amity to unlock the gate forever." Amanda continues. "You are to be a clean slate, but do not forget us. I am about to join your number. Like the rest of you, I will voluntarily forget my name, my family, and my home. I will take on a new identity with false memories and a false history. But so that you will know the information I have provided to you is accurate, I will tell you my name I am about to take on as my own.....my name will be Edith Prior."
Prior. As in....I quickly look at Tris as everyone else did the same. She stands a couple feet away from me and Four, clutching tightly onto Seth's hand.
"They're all staring at me." She whispered to him.
"You did it, you changed everything." Seth replies, looking at me, then Ellie. "We all did."
"No. Not just us. It's you and your family." Tris says, "Thank you for risking your life to help me."
I watched as Tori and the others guided Jeanine and the Traitors out of the room. "There's no need for that, Tris. We're as good as a family, aren't we?" Cheyenne smirked, making both Tris and Seth blushed.
"Oh, yeah!" Molly lets out a laugh. "I'm gonna be a bridesmaid!"
Ellie's POV
We made our way back to the Pit. Finally home at last! A sea of people swamped around us as we did, didn't realized that something is different here. I quickly scanned the crowd, they weren't just Dauntless members. Amity, Candor, Erudite, Abnegation, and the Factionless. They're all here, standing amongst each other, united.
Cheers started filling the room, along with high-pitched whistles sounding occasionally as the crowd applauded, making my mouth fall slightly ajar.
"Can you look anymore surprised?" Eric smirks.
"Why not? I didn't suspect everyone from the factions to be here, together." I scoffed.
"You're like a hero to them now." He says as he smiles proudly.
He wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me closer to him and I rest my head on his chest. "You're my hero." He says, softly as he plants a kiss on my lips.
Free at last!
