Maci's POV

"Wait!" Mr. Kang's voice bellowed, "I think we should let him live."

"Me too." Tobias spoke up as he and Tris pushed their way through the crowd.

"Me three!" Tris agreed.

I heard our friends cheering in agreement behind us, prompting the rest of those who wanted him to live to follow along as the others jeer.

"Quiet!" Evelyn roared, causing the room to fall silent.

"I'm afraid this isn't your decision to make, Mr. Kang." She spat.

"And when exactly was it decided that it was yours?" He argues.

"I agree with Mr. Kang." Johanna speaks, eyeing Ellie as she does.

"This isn't a decision for you to make either, Evelyn."

"I yield to the wishes of the people." Evelyn reasons.

"That's bullshit." Tobias scoffed, "You're yielding to your own wishes while making it seems like you're yielding to theirs by listening to that asshole of an abusive stepfather. You want him dead because Ray sees him as competition, don't you? What's next? You want Maci dead because she's competition. Or you know for a fact that they could just easily take over you." He accuses.

That confident smile is gone as soon as Tobias says that. Gasps can be heard from the crowd behind me as people start talking amongst themselves.

"I'm doing what's best for the people." She defends, "He is not competition, he's not even close. You really think this man is capable of leading these people? He doesn't lead, he dictates." She scorned, before gesturing for Edgar to continue.

"Stop! You can't kill'em if none of us agrees. We're leaders here as well." Harrison objects.

"You're not the only one here who has the authority to make decisions, remember?"

Evelyn huffs angrily. She doesn't have any other choice. "Fine. But there shall be another trial held for him tomorrow."

TIME SKIP

"What is this about?" I asked as I enter the office where Mr. Kang, Johanna, Tori, Harrison, Tobias, Mom, Seth, and Ellie are at, along with Uriah and Zeke.

"Please, Maci, take a seat." Mr. Kang says as I sat in the chair next to Ellie, who is about to have a mental breakdown.

"We're forming a group called the Allegiant." Tobias swallows before continuing, "And we want you to join us in leading the group."

"What?" I asked before adding, "You all realized what forming a group will lead to, right? We just ended a war, now you want to start another one?"

Harrison nods, "We know. That's why we're going to talk to her first, try to settle this peacefully. If she's not wiling to compromise then, we'll have no choice."

"And you guys are agreeing to this?" I asked Seth, Ellie, Mom, and Tobias.

"Ray is following the same methods Jeanine has and Evelyn is going down with this." Mom explained.

"And I won't let them kill the man I love, Maci. If this was Tobias, you would understand." Ellie barked.

"Tris, Tori, Tobias, and I talked about it. We're going beyond the wall. First, we need to get Caleb and we're out of here." Seth finally spoke. "We need you to come with us."

"Hell, even we don't what's out there-"

"Exactly. That's we need to find out, Maci. We don't have another choice." Tobias told me. "I need to know that you're with me on this, Maci."

I let out a sigh and realized the stakes are too high in this so I agreed. "I'm in."

"First, I need to get my man out first." Ellie spoke before adding, "I'm not leaving without him."

"What are you waiting for, Ellie? Come on, let's go." Uriah smiles as they walked out the room and follow them.

Ellie's POV

"Here," Zeke says as he hands me the paperwork needed, along with the gun, "Just in case."

"I won't be long." Before walking off to the guard who was standing in front of the gates. I noticed Tobias through the rusted metal grills of the cells as he approaches the gates of the cells on the next block. His hands were empty as he didn't have the paperwork.

"What are you doing here? You're not allowed here." the guard's voice echoed down the hallway.

"I'm here for him." I say as I waved the paperwork in the air.

I spotted Eric sitting in the corner, his head shoots up as soon as he hears my voice. The guard flips through the paperwork as he eyes me doubtfully.

"You know it's his trial tomorrow, " his eyes travel from my head to toe suspiciously, "And they want to transfer him now?"

"I've already given you the paperwork. Now let him out." Before growling, "Do I look like I'm asking for permission? Let him out."

He crosses his arms over his chest, not wiling to open the gate. "I'll deal with him. " I say as I shift the gun to my side and tapped on it, making sure the guard saw it.

"I'm pretty sure we both want him dead, don't we? This way's better."

He thought about it for a while before letting out a sigh before unlocking the gate and handing Eric over to me.

As much as it hurts me to do, I point the gun at his head. It was the only way to make it seem believable.

"Move it!" I demanded.

"Four! Four, please I'm sorry!" I heard Caleb pleading as I caught sight of Tobias dragging him down the hallway to where Uriah, Seth, and Zeke were. We swiftly moved towards the end of the hallway.

"We need to hurry up!" Seth half-whispers, half-shouts as he gestures for us to hurry up.

"We need to hurry." Tobias whispers as we approached, "Some guards are coming our way."

"Wait, where are we going?" Eric asks.

"Hey, I'll tell you later, okay?" I say as I placed a hand on his cheek, "For now, you're just going to have to trust me. Do you?"

I knew his answer was going to be as he leans forward slightly, giving me a peck on the lips. "Always.

"Good. Let's go." I say as I placed a gun in his hands. Even cuffed, I knew he could still shoot just as well.

"You guys know where to go, right?" Zeke asks me and Tobias as he ran beside me, Uriah, Seth, and Tobias slightly in front of him.

Tobias nods, "Yeah, tell Tori to get ready. We'll be there soon."

Zeke nods as he signals Uriah and Seth to follow him.
