Ellie's POV

"Congratulations to all of you for making it this far." Max's voice echoes through the Pit as all of us waited anxiously for the rankings to be revealed, "But unfortunately, not all of you are going to be staying. Here are your rankings."

I smile as I saw that I got second, Maci got first, Seth got third and Tris got fourth as Uriah got fourth. Lynn and Marlene got fifth and sixth respectively. Even Ryan, Christina, and Will are up in the rankings well, so they're now Dauntless as well. I need to tell our friends about what happened... and warn them ahead as the leaders now know who they are.

"Yeah! Way to go, guys!" Uriah cheered from as he pats us in the backs.

"Hey, we're officially Dauntless now!" Christina cheered as she pulled all of us into a group hug.

"If your name falls below the red line, go back to your dormitories to pack your bags. There will be Dauntless members waiting to escort you out of the compound after." Max says.

People starting breaking off from the group with disappointment written all over their face, some of them even crying.

"As for the rest of you," Max continues, "Congratulations again, new members of Dauntless!" He says as cheers and whistles start to fill the room.

"Dauntless! Dauntless! Dauntless!" They cheered.

"Yeah!" Lynn and Marlene cheered from behind us.

'You didn't clear your last fear, Ellie.' Four told me as soon as he told me to follow him to talk. I look at my ranking once again. I don't get it. Why are they keeping me, Maci, and Seth here? Why wouldn't they just kill us already if they knew? What do they really want from us?

"All right! Listen up!" Eric announces as the room falls silent, "Before you leave tonight, I want all of you in four lines. Everyone gets a tracking device. Don't ask questions, it's just a precaution." he explains.

"We need to find Four." Maci whispers between me, Seth, and Tris.

"Come on." Tris agreed.

But before the four of us could leave, Eric stopped us on the spot.

"Where you four going? You should be in front of the line since you were the top four. I'll make it easy for you." He told us before someone behind us starts injecting them, but Eric stops when the person was about to inject me. "I'll do this one." What? Before turning his attention back to Tris, Maci, and Seth and says, "Hurts like a bitch. Now you three are really one of us. Come with me." He instantly drags me away as Seth caught my other hand.

"No, do it in front of us since you knew all along." Seth growled.

So... he knew? Way before I even knew. Seth and Eric glared before he places the 'tracking device' in my neck. Shit, that fucking hurts.

I jerked away from him, glaring as I realized that this entire relationship was all a lie. "There. Happy, Seth?" He scoffed at him.

"Yeah, since the entire relationship with Ellie is all a lie." Seth concluded what I was thinking.

"Follow me, Ellie." He orders.

"Where to?" I asked, getting even more pissed.

"Don't ask any questions, just follow me, it's that simple." He says sternly, his cold blue eyes staring directly into mine.

"Don't go with him, Ellie." Tris warned me.

"No, I need to hear it from him first. I'll see you later." Before I was dragged into his office and once the doors were closed, I let it all out.

"Answer me! You knew I was Divergent all along! Even before I knew it, didn't you?! So this entire relationship, your 'love' for me is all a fucking lie so you can so-call spy on me?! Well, good job because your acting skills is one of the greatest performances you have ever done! I never thought you were truly a monster until now! Fuck, I should've listen to Four and Seth!" I yelled.

"Yes, I knew all along because Max and Jeanine told me. No, I never lie to you on how I feel for you, Ellie. I secretly did this so I can plan on protecting you because they're planning something big with you, Seth, and Maci. You little sister and those 'cousins' of yours, they'll come looking for them tomorrow. Listen, later on tonight, we'll be planning something. Just follow and do exactly what everybody else is doing. One wrong move and you're dead, do you understand?"

"Planning on what? And tell me everything right now!" I demanded, clearly having enough of these games. Especially since my siblings and friends are now in grave danger.

"Just do what I say, Ellie." He looked pretty serious so I let out a huge sigh before saying, "Did Max and Jeanine told you to spy on me once you knew I was Divergent?"

"Yes but that completely fall apart once they learned about our relationship and I was in love with you so I lied that we're not together because they threatened to kill you if I don't end it. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner."

I walked over and hugged him. "If you could have told me sooner but I understand what you have to do. I need to get to the others." I kiss him before walking out the door and went to Four's apartment.

I explained everything to them and they looked shocked but realized that he was protecting me this entire time under the shadows.

"Well, I never thought he has the balls to lie about you two being broken up but I'll give him that." Seth sighed.

"We need to go back to the dorms because they will suspect us, Four." Maci told him.

"Alright, but do as everyone else is doing. One wrong move and you're dead." He warned us.

"Okay." We walked out and went to bed. Not before I facetime Molly and told her to leave tonight with Olivia because they're coming for them. Molly agreed and we hung up before going to bed and went to sleep.
