Beca stepped out of the shower, the cold air suddenly hitting her previously warm body, which made her shiver. Sucking in a breath, she quickly reached for a towel to wrap around her body, grabbing another one to wrap her soaking wet hair in.
When she stepped out of the bathroom, she walked across the hall and into her room, humming to an old Beatles song. She grabbed her work uniform (which consisted of a gray pencil skirt that stopped right above her knees and a blouse she tucked in) and turned around.
"Holy shit!" She shouted as the clothes fell onto the floor. She glared at her sister sitting on her bed before reaching down to pick up her clothes. "Why must you sneak into my apartment?"
"I didn't sneak," Emily informed as she dropped her leg that was propped up on the bed to land on the floor. "I knocked and waited, but after a couple minutes, I just unlocked the door and let myself in."
"Of course you did," the older woman muttered before dropping her towel and turning to slip on a pair of underwear and a bra.
"How are you so comfortable with changing in front of me?" Emily asked curiously as she stared at her phone.
Beca glanced over her shoulder and replied, "We're sisters, Em, and it's not like you were going to leave anyway."
Emily looked up at her sister and smirked. "You're right; I wouldn't have left." She sighed and laid back on the queen size bed. "I think I'm gonna go hang out with Cora later. I haven't seen her in a couple days."
"How's she doing?" Beca asked, putting deodorant on followed by her perfume.
Emily blew out a breath and answered with, "As good as she can be. She still has some drama going on from what she's told me, which isn't much. What time do you have to be at work?"
The brunette glanced down at her watch, and her heart sank. "Fifteen minutes, and it's a 30 minute drive."
Widening her eyes, the 21 year old jumped up and clapped her hands. "Alright, let's kick it into high gear then." She grabbed a blow dryer off her sister's desk and plugged it in while Beca pulled her blouse on before slipping on her heels.
While Emily was fixing Beca's hair into a low bun with the sides hanging down in curls, Beca put on minimal makeup which consisted of eyeliner, some eye-shadow and a nude lipstick. Nothing too extravagant for a job she hated.
"My boss is going to kill me," Beca said as she quickly made her way down the stairs of her apartment and opened the door.
"Bec, your keys!" Emily shouted and Beca turned and caught her keys in her hand before mumbling a 'thank you' and running out to her car.
She was already going to be late- that couldn't be avoided, but the traffic was more horrible than usual so it was almost like the universe wanted her to have a horrible day.
"I guess everyone and their brother decided they wanted to go out today," Beca groaned to herself as she rested her elbow against the window and laid her head in her hand as she watched a young woman run across the cross walk.
An additional 20 minutes in traffic later, she pulled into a parking spot before grabbing her purse, phone and keys and ran inside the four story building.
"Hello, Beca," the security guard smiled as she rushed in.
The brunette nodded at the taller man, grabbed a blueberry muffin and slapped a five dollar bill on the counter before hurrying away. "Morning, John!" She called out before dodging past well-dressed employees to get to the elevator. "Come on, come on," she muttered to herself as she began eating the muffin, waiting on the large stainless steel elevator doors to open.
