"As always, Nick, it was nice catching up with you over drinks but I have to go home and deal with the fiancé," Jamie smiled as he stood up followed by Nick, a tall, well dressed man with perfectly groomed dark hair.
"You can't stay for another drink? Matt should be here soon."
"No, I better get going," Jamie replied as he pulled his wallet out of his blazer and laid a few bills down on the counter of the bar. "Chloe has been a lot to deal with recently. Doesn't like to listen when I ask for a simple request."
"I though you had her doing whatever without second guessing? What happened to that?"
"Nothing did. Sometimes she just has an attitude. Like when she's on her period or some bullshit like that. She's always making excuses," the man shook his head.
"So what happens if she gets mouthy?" Nick questioned as he took a sip of his craft beer.
"It gets corrected."
"Just like that?" Nick asked in astonishment. "It doesn't happen again?"
"Usually it doesn't but when it happens again, it's all the more fun for me," Jamie gave a sinister smirk as he looked over at his friend.
"Right on," Nick fist bumped Jamie who picked up his keys.
"Alright, Nick, I really have to go. Maybe the three of us could get together sometime and just hang out. Or maybe we can take another weekend trip if you know what I'm saying," he nudged the other man with his elbow who just laughed.
"Tell you what, that sounds great. Megan and the kids are going on some sort of school trip or some shit in a couple weeks. If you're free then we could definitely make something happen," said Nick, already ready for yet another trip with his boys.
"Sounds good. Mind talking it over with Matt when he gets here?" Jamie asked taking any chance to pawn even the slightest amount of work onto someone else.
"Yeah, it's no problem. Jamie. I'll see you around." Nick replied and watched as one of his closest friends left the bar right as Matt walked in.
Driving down the busy streets of the city, Jamie blasted rock music, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel of his car and bobbing his head to the music. He wasn't one to sing in the car but rather pretend he was playing an instrument at a stop light such as a crazy guitar riff or drum solo.
About 30 minutes later he was unlocking the front door, a smirk sitting on his face as he entered. "Chloe, get in here," he shouted, his voice booming off the walls. When he got no answer, he took his blazer off followed by his watch and reiterated, "Chloe. Living room now!"
Still, no voice or body followed. That's when Jamie took the time to look around the room. It was practically bare- all except the furniture, the television and a few knick-knacks here and there. His blood boiled as the anger began to rise like the heat of a fire.
"Chloe, you better be trying to play a sick joke on me!" He screamed as he stormed through the house, first checking the kitchen, the bathroom and finally the bedrooms. "Chloe, I will kill you so help me God! Come out right now!"
Jamie stood there for a good few seconds before he smiled and much more calmly stated, "Chloe, you know I don't like games and pranks." He walked over to their bed and slowly got down to look underneath. "Why don't you just come on out and nothing will happen."
