If Beca was being honest with herself, she really did need that hug from Chloe at the party. Of course she would never admit it to anyone- or even herself, but deep down she knew she needed it. She had been having such a hard time lately from work to when she thought she saw Victoria walking down the street.
Stacie, Emily and Jesse all thought that she was at the point of her life that she didn't want to move on. She knew they thought that; at least that's what she had in her head anyway. Although she never wanted to let Victoria go, she didn't want to be depressed, subject to going into an panic or anxiety attack at any moment. They came and went and sometimes she could tell if she was about to have one, and other times they took her by complete surprise.
The truth was she wanted to get over Victoria's death. To the point of her getting back to normal. She wanted to be able to function normally, she wanted to hang out with her friends without the social anxiety or worry about bringing the mood down.
She wanted to be at peace.
Beca was willing to put in the work to help herself heal. For the longest time she had been moping around and allowing her depression and anxiety to control her life. It was honestly more tiring dealing with it all on a daily basis than to just try to get help. There had been times where she attempted to move on, but she ended up failing which only discouraged her more.
And so she was here, sitting at her desk at work with zero hours of sleep, a boss that hates her, and a coworker who loves nothing more than to taunt her.
"Hey, Beca, the boss wants you," Tanya, one of her more tolerable coworkers, said as she sent the brunette a smile.
Beca looked at her dark skin and kind brown eyes and smiled. "Thank you," she replied and stepped around her desk. "Hey, you wouldn't happen to know what this is about, would you?"
"No, I'm sorry," the older woman replied. "However, I did see Steve go in there."
The brunette sighed and gently shook her head. "Of course. It can't be anything good. Thanks again, Tanya."
With a simple nod from the other woman, Beca had ran her slim fingers down her skirt and took a few breaths as she made her way to her boss' office. Taking one last breath and closed her eyes, she knocked while she simultaneously grabbed the cold, silver handle of the door and twisted, allowing herself room to slip in before hearing the door shut behind her.
"Rebeca," her boss' loud voice boomed through the room with authority. "Can you tell me what this is about?"
Beca looked between the man pointing at copies of what looked to be a photo of something, to Steve who was smirking in the chair at the end of the table.
"What's what about?" She asked curiously as she tentatively made her way to her boss, her eyes landing on the piece of paper. It looked to be a file and upon further investigation, realized it was a rather important file to an important firm based in North Carolina. However, something was off about this particular file of information. "What the hell is this about?" She asked louder as she picked up the paper and read it over.
Instead of it being a paper full of their equity information, it was also a piece of paper that had some rather harsh language written on it. There was even an inappropriate drawing on the side. But the worst part? It had Beca's name written as if she wrote it herself.
"What is this?" She asked, angry that someone would do this, but also terrified that she would get in trouble for something she didn't do.
"I don't know, that's why I'm asking you," her boss replied and she looked over at Steve who still had a smirk on his face.
