Spread out over the vibrant green grass, sat contentedly on checkered covers, families enjoyed a picnic. It consisted of ham and cheese sandwiches with pickles and bottles of homemade lemonade. After having finished their satisfying meal, the busy parents took time to chase their mischievous children in a game of catch me.

Along an area by the road, a plump vendor with a silly oversized hat sold refreshing ice cream to passers-by. One particularly tanned girl handed over money receiving vanilla cream in a bright purple cone. She smacked her lips in anticipation of that delicious sweet taste melting on her tongue. There were several other vendors of all different kinds from different street foods to candy.

Nearby multiple creaking swings were occupied by a bunch of toddlers pushed by their caring parents. They screamed in delight as they whizzed through the cool Autumn air. While the younger children were busy on the swings, the older children were building sandcastles in the sandbox with buckets and colorful tools. One dark haired boy had even tripped over his and landed face first in a little girl's sand castle, taking a mouth full of sand as he did. Both kids started crying which then prompted the two talkative mothers to go and comfort their children.

"There she is!" Jesse cooed as he lifted the blanket off his daughter. From the other side of the picnic table, Cora smiled as she watched him continue to engage in a game of peekaboo with their daughter.

"Tell you what, man," Benji said as he put his hand on his best friend's shoulder. The two of them had definitely became more close over the years. "I never thought you'd be a dad but here you are surprising me and being one of the best dads I know."

The taller man smiled over at the man to show his appreciation. "Thanks, Benji. That means a lot."

"No problem," Benji returned.

"So how's everything with you and Em going?" Jesse asked as he watched her come out of the bathroom she previously went to that sat several yards away.

It was a nice Autumn day with the sun burning bright, it's rays beating down on Earth's surface. Despite the warm air and the warm feeling on the backs of people at the park, it was still fall and with fall came fall weather. There was a nice cool breeze that blew, especially under the rather large tree where a couple wooden tables and benches sat under.

They were all supposed to meet here today for their annual get together, a tradition they had started three years ago. So much has happened over the past few years that they started to get busier and busier. When it became apparent they didn't get to hang out as much, they all made a pact to have at least one get together every year no matter what.

The birds were singing and children were playing on the jungle gym, swings, and other toys as their parents either watched or chased their children. Cora, Jesse, Emily and Benji were the first to arrive for the day so they were just hanging out and catching up before the others got there. Nobody in their group of friends couldn't wait for this day. A day that was always fun and happy no matter what. If anyone were arguing, they all promised they would set aside their differences just for the day. The only year that had actually happened was last year when Benji and Beca were arguing about what to do for Emily's birthday. It got quite heated as they both loved and cared for her but both thought they knew Emily better. Of course it was meant to be a surprise so they had to keep quiet about it anyway. It ended up working out though because the two laughed together and by the end of the day, were able to come together and plan one of the coolest parties ever.

"It's going well. She became very successful. She won the Pulitzer Prize, which ended up getting her a movie deal," Benji started.

It was true; Emily had became a well known author for her book 3:47 A.M. a fictional book about a girl who was kidnapped when she was a younger teenager and escaped 10 years later only to start killing men who resembled the men who took her. It was a messed up story- one that you wouldn't think someone like Emily would write but low and behold, here she was with the a Pulitzer Prize win and a movie coming up.
