Forgetting

For the first time in her life, Chloe felt numb to everything in her life. Jamie had not only taken her phone, but he took anything she could use to communicate with the outside world. He even took her car keys as punishment. All the redhead could do was sit around and watch tv or clean the house. Jamie also limited how much she could eat, claiming that she had gotten too fat while he was away. Not that Jamie was home more. He still came and went as he pleased, and if Chloe wasn't behaving when he got home, he beat her. The redhead felt broken. It was like she was existing just to exist.

The only person Jamie allowed to visit Chloe was her mother, who came over on Sundays to plan her wedding with Chloe. Chloe loved her mom, but she had no idea how to tell her mom about what Jamie was doing to her. And if her mom ever found out about Blair or Beca, there would be hell to pay.

"Chloe, are you even paying attention?" Mary said, scolding her daughter.

"Yeah, sorry, mom. I just have a lot on my mind," Chloe sighed.

"Well, I need your mind to be here. We only have three weeks until the wedding."

"I know it's just. I know," Chloe said as she aimlessly flipped through wedding magazines.

For hours the redhead sat there listening to her mother go on and on about her wedding. She was just about to lose her mind when her mother finally decided to take a bathroom break. As soon as Mary was out of the room was, Chloe wasted no time grabbing her mother's phone out of her purse. She quickly unlocked it and called her sister.

Come on, Cor, answer, please, Chloe thought as the phone rang.

"Hey, this is Cora. I can't get to my phone right now. Leave me a message, and I'll get back to you as soon I can."

Shit, Chloe thought. She should've known that Cora wouldn't answer a call from their mother. Sadly, this was the only way she could talk to her sister now.

"Hey, Cor, it's Chloe. I just wanted to say that I know you are going to be an amazing mother," Chloe sighed, thinking about how she could be there to help her sister through everything. "And I wanted to tell you that you were right about everything. You told me, and I didn't listen. I'm sorry for not being there when you really needed me. Tell Aubrey I'm sorry for what happened and that I wish I would've just kept my mouth shut. And tell Beca I miss her."

Chloe sighed as she hung up her mom's phone. There was so much more she wanted to say, but she just couldn't find the words. She missed Beca so much she could hardly stand it. But ever since Cora moved out, there had been a rift between the two sisters. They barely spoke anymore. Chloe didn't find out Cora was pregnant until much later, and Cora didn't even know Chloe was in love with Beca.

Chloe quickly texted Cora so that she would know the call was from her. If she thought it was their mom calling, she might not ever listen to the message, and Chloe had no idea when she would get another chance to call her.

Mom: This is Chloe listen to your voice mail :)

She then deleted the message and slid her mothers phone back into her purse.

"Everything okay?" Mary asked as she returned.

"Just fine," Chloe said with a fake smile.

After two weeks of dancing around the topic, Beca finally agreed to go on a date with Kommissar. The short brunette had decided to take the German out for dinner. While the food was fine, Beca's heart just wasn't in it. A few months ago, Beca would have been all over the taller woman. She was tall, young, and beautiful. There was only one problem. She wasn't Chloe.
