"Government" is an oc of mine
Civil War AU
TW: Mentions of death————
The tapping of hoofs hit the grass, the soft hoof beats filled the quiet air, nearly distracting the rider from his own thoughts, yet not enough. I hope my family's ok. He thought, he knew about what happened to Georgia, his own boyfriend. He wished he could've stopped what happened to Geo, the army, the fire, the destruction, yet he couldn't. He knew if Government hadn't found out about his relationship with Georgia there's a chance he could be safe. Yet he found out, and his threats weren't empty, they were true, and Ohio knew that.
He clutched the reigns tighter, hoping something would distract himself from his thoughts. All he hoped was that the rest of his family was ok, his two boyfriends, Indiana and Kentucky, and the babies, DC and IDC. He slowed the burgundy colored steed down to a jog as he neared Kentucky's home. He hoped that his family had gotten to safety in Kentucky, he wished that Georgia would be there with them. He could only hope his family was at this house, he knew they would probably be dead if they were still in Georgia.
The soft glow of dusk covered the Midwestern state's dark blue uniform. He had left as soon as the war ended, not choosing to change out of his uniform, but choosing to get to his family as quickly as possible. He slowed his horse down to a stop as he neared the stable. He hopped down from her, his boots hitting the grass with a thud. He guided the steed gently into the stable before closing the door.
He started his short walk over to Tucky's house, he wasn't a religious man, but he felt like praying, praying that his family was safe, all of them. He stood outside the small home and took a deep breath, sighing before he knocked on the door.
"Ohio!" Indiana greeted cheerfully, pulling the taller state into a hug. Ohio hugged the other Midwesterner back, his eyes closed and a gentle smile forming on his lips.
"We haven't seen you in so long!" Indi exclaimed with relief. Ohio nodded, but at the moment all he wanted to know was if Geo was safe.
"Is Georgia safe? Is he ok?" Ohio asked, looking around the room as if he was looking for the Southern state. His eyes stopped at Kentucky, who sat at a table, his head hanging down, not saying a word. Ohio nodded, knowing he was at least physically ok, mentally he wasn't sure about.
"Georgia..." Indi paused for a moment before continuing.
"We- we think he's dead." Indiana muttered just loud enough for Ohio to hear. He could feel tears well up in his eyes again but quickly wiped them away. Ohio didn't believe what he was hearing. Georgia was... dead?! Ohio thought, he didn't feel sad, but at the same time he hadn't fully processed the information that had been given to him.
Ohio decided to talk to Kentucky, to say hello, and at least make sure he's ok. He walked over to the table Tucky was at and sat down across from him, his boyfriend didn't seem to notice he was there. He wanted for a few more seconds before saying something.
"Tucky, it's me, Ohio." He spoke softly so as not to startle the Southern man. Kentucky looked up with hatred in his eyes. Ohio was taken aback by the look Kentucky gave him.
"What are you doing here?" Kentucky asked, his eyes fixed into a glare.
"He had a feeling you guys would be here, and I wanted to make sure you all were ok." Ohio responded, looking at his boyfriend with confusion and worry.
"You killed Georgia." Kentucky stated, Ohio just looked at him, not knowing how to respond.
"You killed him!" Kentucky continued, glaring daggers at Ohio.
"I tried stopping Sherman but he didn't listen!" Ohio responded, Kentucky shook his head.
"Well you didn't try hard enough! And now this is all your fault!" Kentucky nearly yelled, Ohio stayed silent.
"Papa?" The arguing states heads turned over to see the government twins. DC rubbed his eyes tiredly, and IDC looked like she was about to pass out. The pair noticed their dad and ran over to him, but were stopped by a pair of arms grasping them.
"Go back to bed." Tucky ordered, bringing them to the stairs. IDC opened her mouth to speak, but was stopped.
"Just go to bed." Tucky ordered again, he watched as the twins headed up the stairs. He looked back at where Ohio was sitting, his eyes instantly turning into a tight glare.
"This is all your fault! You could've stopped this! Yet you didn't! AND NOW GEORGIA'S DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU!" Kentucky exclaimed, yelling the last sentence out of anger.
"I tried-" Ohio tried to speak, but was cut off.
"I don't care what you have to say, get out!" Kentucky exclaimed, pointing to the door, Ohio just nodded and headed towards it.
"Goodbye Indi, I love you." He said, Indi just smiled sadly at him. He pulled his boyfriend into a hug, and kissed the shorter state's forehead.
"Bye Ohio, I love you." Indiana said as Ohio opened the door to leave, Indiana and Kentucky watched as the Midwesterner left.
Ohio went back to get his horse, but the knowledge of what happened hit him like a truck. Maybe Kentucky's right, maybe this is my fault. He thought to himself, he could feel tears pricking the corner of his eyes. I could have stopped it, Georgia could've survived. Ohio sat down as the tears started to fall down his face rapidly.
Georgia's dead, my boyfriend's dead, and it's all my fault.
