Gabbie's POV"Congratulations! You're pregnant," the female doctor exuberantly stated, showing me the screen of her computer that has my ultrasound result.
This is it. It's legit. I plan to finally announce it to Xander tonight but I made sure of it first. I came to the hospital in the early morning of Saturday, making an excuse of going to Leia for a hangout. I even barely succeed an approval from him.
Xander has been very strict these past days. He would always check if I'm home on time, if I am dressed properly, if I eat healthily, and anything else.
I always obey him, that's not even new. He is venting out good things for me anyway even so sometimes it is getting too much. Just this morning, I didn't surmise him to say no because Leia's been my friend and I've talked about her to him many times. That conversation with him was too tangled whenever I think about it.
*Flashback
"What are you gonna do there?" he asked while forehead frowning.
"Just...simple hangout. We didn't have a chance to get together, you know."
"But you see each other five times a week. Why even on weekends?"
"Well, we can't rave it up on weekdays, it's very busy."
"Where is her house, by the way?"
"It's in the Ninth Fortrich."
"Does she live alone?"
"Uhm, she's with her cousin."
"Do you know her cousin?"
"Yes, he's very close to me. He's nice, don't worry," that was just to assure him that I am in good hands, in a good neighborhood. But it's not the answer he wanted to hear, I think. He turned into an investigator in a quick snap.
"Then why would you hang out in her house when she is with someone there?" he frowned and I was unable to speak for a second. He saw my facial expression so he continued, "Why not invite her here, instead?" he suggested.
That got me surprised. Is he really inviting her over? But he never invites anyone, especially those he barely knows. However, the problem is that it's a lie from the beginning. I was not planning to go to Leia.
"But I have someone here with me, too. She'll be very uncomfortable."
"How about you? You'll not get uncomfortable?"
"No, because it's a different case. I knew her cousin well but Leia doesn't know you." I mean she doesn't well enough.
"That's what I'm asking also. Why are you close with her cousin?"
"Because Leia and I knew each other for so long that I also got acquainted with her family. Is that even wrong?" I am starting to get so befuddled.
"What's her cousin's name?"
"Do you have to know that? Her cousin's not the topic here." Him asking some name will never not be haunting. It sounds so frightening. "Spare him, Xander, he's just a little boy."
I saw his bewildered gaze, "How old is he?"
"He is 8 years old. Oh! Actually, he turned 9 last month." After I uttered that, I saw how he facepalmed at how unreasonable he has become."Oh my God, Gabbie! Am I so funny right now? What am I even thinking?"
"Yes, what are you even thinking?" I sincerely asked.
"No, nothing. Forget it."
"Then, do you let me go to Leia's?" I confirmed with glistening eyes, expecting him to finally agree. I am like a child who asks a favor from her Dad, this is insane.
