3rd Person's POV"Really, I'm fine," Garry made it certain for the hundredth time now.
"How about your friend? Is he alright, too? Please don't hide anything from me now. I am your sister and I am on your side forever."
"How many times do I have to tell you? I'm doing so great. Trust me. Those bullies like I told you before are really good at keeping promises. They don't even spare a simple glance at me now. They tremble in fear just by being close to me. So rest assured, I am fine."
Gabbie let go a sigh of relief of what she heard. She has been very worried about his brother ever since the incident. What if they secretly take revenge on him? Or what if their parents found out and kidnap my brother and beat him to death? She snapped on herself after thinking that horrendous imagination. But now, the thorn on her throat has been out after hearing an assurance from him. He is fine, as he should be.
Whenever Gabbie would recall what happened just a day ago, she can't help but to feel thankful to Xander. She knew that his way of punishing those youngsters was never right but at least that helped his brother get off of his endless battle.
I should thank him properly, she thought to herself. But how, is the question after it.
Today is friday and she happened to have a vacant schedule on the afternoon so she decided to go home. She is currently sitting on her bed without having an idea of what to do. Xander is in the company and Gabbie doesn't know either what time he would usually go home. She has not been going outside often ever since she moved in the mansion. Maybe today would be a little bit different.
She decided to go down the first floor where the maids roam around doing their respective tasks. They greeted her when they saw her coming down the stairs. They are very friendly and Gabbie cannot be more thankful for that. "How may I help you, Ma'am?" one of them asked, stopping in front of the stairs. Gabbie waved her hand, "I'm fine, I don't need anything. I just...feel like going down to have some chats with you. Will that be ok?" she shyly requested and the maid gleamed more.
"Of course! I'll accompany you then. How about we have some tea outside? The weather is nice today."
Gabbie really loved the idea and so they both paced their way to one of the patios in the garden while another maid prepared them tea.
The maid who joined Gabbie is much older than all of them. She's in her late 40s and even wears a different uniform. She, making other maids serve her gave Gabbie the postulation that she is their head here.
"I am Pauline, my dear, and I have been working here for more than 20 years now. I basically raised Xander so I'm really happy that he's now getting married," she discussed with much delight.
"Are you perhaps close with him? I mean, do you talk to him?" Gabbie then registered how weird her question was so she tried to elaborate further. But Pauline already got what she was trying to say.
"You mean if I could casually talk to him or if I talk to him often?" she cleared and Gabbie agreed excitedly.
"Yeah yeah, that. Because as I can see, he is not someone who'll have a casual talk with anyone."
Pauline smiled widely, admiring the lady and the relationship of these two people who do not know a single thing about each other but are about to get married. "I do talk to him casually. That boy sometimes treats me as his mother since he grew up without one."
Gabbie was taken aback by the information and felt sorry to hear it. She realized she never saw and heard about the first lady of the Evans Company. Now everything made sense. Curiosity got the best of her but felt ashamed to ask more. She doesn't want Pauline to think that she's being nosy about family matters.
