Xander's POV

It was an early morning of the weekend, I woke up and rushed to Gabbie's room. I visited her yesterday and she told me she wants to go home already so we hit the road back together.

She has been constantly giving me a smile of sangfroid and her eyes tell me she's not healed yet. She must be faking it to ease my worry but she doesn't have to do that. I want her to pour it all to me so I could make her feel better in any way I know.

Yet, she still chose to sleep alone last night and I willingly gave her the space she needed.

I unlocked the door to her room without even knocking and I was surprised to see her already up coz I expected her to be resting by now. She was fresh from the bathroom and wearing her underwear. Then she took out a bra from her closet and found it hard to hook it from the back. She seems running out of time and so I quickly came near her to help her do it.

She was facing a whole body mirror and by then she realized that I came. She looked at me from my reflection who is now hooking her undergarment.

I faced her, too from the mirror as she painted her same fake smile again at me. She titled her head to give me a short glance, "Thank you," she voiced out and then continued her way to find her most suitable dress of today.

"You seem to be in a hurry, what's up?"

"Hm? I..am going to the company. The panel will check our commercial output today so I must not be late," she explained and took out a white dress. She speedily wore it and favored me her back. "Will you zip it for me?"

She looked like someone who is casually going to work as if nothing big happened. I should be happy that she's not mourning anymore since she's hurting so much but I couldn't be. Maybe because I know for sure that the pain is still there but she is suppressing herself not to show it.

I zipped it and then she faced me. "Do I look ok? I am actually nervous about the panel's review of our project. But I shouldn't be, right? I must be confident to present it since we worked so hard for it." As she talked, I discreetly traced every inch of her face. Her reactions are fine, her way of talking is normal as ever, her breathing is steady, and her eyes...her eyes are sad.

"Otherwise, I'm excited," she gleamed and I didn't even hear what was the line before that, yet, I gave back her sweet smile towards me.

"Let's eat breakfast first," I offered and she shook her head, looking apologetic.

"I don't think I can dine with you, my love. I am really running late. We still have some finishing job to do," she held my hand. "Don't worry, I'll make sure to eat."

"Ok, good luck," I cheered for her, and then she lets go of my hand to get her bag and wear her shoes.

"Goodbye," she gave me a peck on my lips. "See ya," and made her way out of the room.

Not so long when I received a call from Jameson. "Hello."

"Oh, sorry, am I interrupting something?"

"What?"

"You seem pissed off."

"No, you're not. I was just racking my mind before you called."

"No, Sir! Don't torture your brain. It might get back on you and make you insane."

"Stop playing around, I'm seriously not in the mood."

"When were you been in a good mood, anyway?"

He just rolled his eyes at that. "I'm hanging up-,"

"Oh here! My news is actually a good one. I finally restored the file," he vented out with an evident proudness in his tone.

I was moved a little, "That's great. Send it to me, now."
