3rd Person's POV

It's been four hours since Xander went out of the ward. He stayed by the hallway silently but his mind has been so loud and he cannot assuage even a second.

He wanted to see Gabbie, hug her, and give her comfort. He knows she is hurting right now and the scene he saw before he came out of the room has been fretting him so much. But he can understand why Gabbie reacted that way, pushing him away. She probably hates seeing him. It's his fault and he is not denying that. He is vexing himself for not knowing her situation all these times.

That day when he received the pictures from an anonymous sender, he cannot succor himself but to lose his mind overthinking everything that could have happened. Niki knew enough of him and she would lose nothing at all if she decides to pour it all in one natter but Xander has so much to slide out of his hand. He might fail to hold Gabbie to stay in his life and it would be equal to losing his life. So he's afraid, so damn afraid that instead of patching what's broken, it chose to appear untamed.

He instantly staggered when the doctor said Gabbie is pregnant and his whole world collapsed when he added, he won't be able to save the baby. The baby is still so early and not holding strong enough. He was thunderstruck that he froze for seconds trying to absorb the situation.

"Please sign this, Sir." A very urgent paper was shown to him. It carries permission to get the baby out of Gabbie's womb because she might die, too.

The doctor had to touch him because he is malfunctioning. They need him to sign the paper right now. "Be strong," he said and Xander only answered him with tears in his eyes. His shaky hands tried to fish out some pen from his pockets but the nurse offered hers already. He signed it with his unstable hands and mind. The signature almost cannot be recognized as his.

Gabbie would be so hurt if she will know about this. "Doc, when my wife wakes up, please don't tell her yet." The man in a white gown gave him a confused look. "I guess, she doesn't know she's pregnant." Because if she knew, she would have told me already. She was not thinking I'd be unhappy with it, right?

The doctor only nods at him and runs his way towards the operation room.

.

The sliding door opened up and his rumbling thoughts stopped to pay attention to that person. Gwyneth gave him that sad look in the eyes.

"How is she? Please, Mom, let me see Gabbie," he pleaded and held Gwyneth's hand. The mother also cannot completely fathom the heartbreaking news of Gabbie losing her baby. She doesn't know the whole story but whatever it is, she's certain that both parties are in so much pain.

"Go inside, she wants to see you." Xander couldn't be more thankful to hear that so he quickly moved his feet after pressing the woman's hand to finally see his wife. But Gwyneth held him still for a while.

"Sir Evans, my daughter is totally at her lowest point right now. So please understand her, make her feel better."

"I promise I will," Xander made sure of but Gwyneth needs a little more assurance.

"Do me a favor, please, Sir Evans. Whatever Gabbie says, grant her the favor," that's the last of her wishes before she finally lets go of Xander's hand.

The man rushed inside. Albeit the fact that he doesn't know how to face his wife until now, his willingness to see her stood powerful. Everything else will flow on its own somehow.

He entered the private ward and saw Gabbie in her wheelchair, facing the glass wall. Just by observing her back, he can already tell how blue is she at the moment and that tears him to pieces.
