The rest of the day is a weird mixture of long and short. You see Newt in between each of your classes, and you are in heaven. You have no classes with him, which is painful, but seeing him every hour seems to make up for it.

People are starting to whisper about you and Newt as you to walk hand in hand and he kisses you at every opportunity, making your heart explode each time. But the other people make you nervous.

You've always lived in the shadows when you were little, it was easier that way. You were the "spotlight" at home, but not in a good way, so you tried to slip by as casually as possible, since now you have a deep distrust of almost all people. Except Newt. But it was always easier to hide the bruises when you weren't around other people, but now. What if someone finds out? You almost don't care anymore. Would it be that bad if someone knew?

You quickly shut that idea out of your mind. Yes it would be bad, who knows what would happen to you, and what that man would do if you told anyone. And what if he managed to escape the cops if you called them? He would probably come after you and find you, and who knows what he would do to you.

During lunch, Newt had forgotten his wallet and you'd never had money in the firs place, so you two go back to the library, in your little corner together, snuggling up.

He had a sandwich in his backpack, and he offered it to you. You nearly melt at the gesture, and when you refuse, not wanting him to go hungry, he rips it in half, so you still can have some.

You're so touched by his thought, worrying about you and still letting you be relaxed and have him taken care of.

Unfortunately, after a little kissing, the lunch bell rings again. This time it's Newt who has a test, so you decide not to skip class, but he promises you that you will do something after school.

The last few periods stretch on forever, because you're daydreaming about Newt, and what you two might do once the bell finally rings.

Doodling all over your math paper you haven't heard a word anyone has said, but you do hear the final bell ring, releasing everybody from their prison.

Taking your time packing up your things to avoid as many crowds as possible, Newt has time to make it right outside your doorway before you leave.

You head towards his car hand in hand. And you're actually smiling at him. Unfortunately, his phone buzzes as you're walking, and he disconnects his hand from yours to check it. He lets out a sigh.

"(y/n), I'm so sorry about this but my dad is really mad at me, I have to go straight home. But I'm going to give you a ride this time, I was so worried last night"

He puts his hand up when you open your mouth to protest.

"I know you're perfectly fine and you can walk just fine, but (y/n), I would feel much better if I knew you were safe in your house."

Well your house isn't safe.... but the sweetness makes you momentarily forget about all that, so you blush and nod, and he grins his adorable grin at you.

"Great!" He says with a smile, and you smile too, even though you can feel a sinking feeling about going home.

You give him directions to your house, wondering if you're going to regret this later. You probably will, but you don't care at the moment. You finally pull up to your house and he gives you one last, long, sweet kiss before you get out of the car, and he drives away. Leaving you with your father
